Lesson Plan_English 12 Unit 1 Reading skill– Date of teaching: Date of planing: I. Aims: After the lesson, students can: - Scan for the specific information about family - Acquire some vocabulary items about family - Develop speaking skill by telling about their family II. Materials: - Textbook. - Cards with members of a family (mother, father, children) - Cards with activities: + running household + give a hand with cleaning + cooking + playing with toys + studying + mending things III. Procedures: Designed by:Tran Anh Thu – Văn chấn High School Reading Skill 1 Lesson Plan_English 12 Procedure Teacher’s activities Students’s activities Time Warm-up - Ask sts to look at the picture in their book & raise questions: + How many peaple are there in the picture? + What is their relationship? + What are they doing? - Check sts answers.’ - Look at the picture in their book & answer the questions: + There are 4. + They are a family. + Father is playing with the son; Mother is helping her daughter with her homework. - Listen to understand. 3mins Before reading - Put the cards of members on the board in 3 different columns. - Show sts the cards of activities which have been prepared before hand. - Ask sts to works in groups of 4 in 2mins to match the activities with the members of the family. - After 2 mins, the group who raise the hand first will have the right to go to the board and tick the activities in each column. - Check sts results with the who class.’ - Explain some phrases: + Running the households. + Give a hand with cleaning the floor. + mending things. - Read the phrases and ask sts to read after. - Listen to the teacher s explanation.’ - Works in groups of 4 in 2mins to match the activities with the members of the family. - After 2 mins, raise the hand to get the right to go to the board & be the winner. - Listen & take nots in the notebook. - Read after the teacher. 7mins While reading - Ask sts to look at the passage & listen to the tape. Remind sts of underlining new words. - Write new words (words related to the topic only) on the boards & explain: + caring woman (n): a woman who always takes care of everyone & everything in a family. + take the responsibility for: + attempt (n): Be in one s attempt:’ + be under pressure: + supportive of (a): - Read as a model & show the position of stress. Then ask sts - Look at the passage & listen to the tape & underline the new words. - Listen to the teacher s explanation & take note the’ meaning. 25min s Designed by:Tran Anh Thu – Văn chấn High School Reading Skill 2 Lesson Plan_English 12 to read after the teacher. - Give correction about the sts s pronunciation.’ - Ask some to stand up & speak aloud the words & phrases.  Task 1 - Ask sts to work in pairs in 4mins to fulfill task 1. - After 4mins, ask presenters of some about their answers. - Ask if other groups agree or not. - Check the answers with the whole class by explaining the key words when neccesary: + Men build the house and women make it home :“ ” (translation) + join hands: work together + mischievous (a): playful + close knit (a): (translation)– - Read words as model & ask sts to read after.  Task 2 - Ask sts to work in pairs to ask & answer the questions. - Check sts understandings of the questions.’ - Ask them to read through the passage again & try to set the position for the answer of each question first. - Let sts do in 4mins. - After 4mins, check sts answers.’ - Listen & read after the teacher.  Task 1 - Work in pairs in 4mins to fulfill task 1. - After 4mins, presenters of some about their answers. - Other groups give their ideas. - Check the answers with the teacher. Take note the new words. - Read as the teacher requires.  Task 2 - Work in pairs to ask & answer the questions. - Speak out their understandings of the questions. - Read through the passage again & set the position for the answer of each question first. - Work in 4mins. - Check the answer with the teacher. After reading - Ask sts to work in groups of 4 to tell about their family (mother s job, activities she usually does at home, etc.)’ - After 4mins, ask each presenter tell about one member in his/her family. - Listen & give feedback. - Work in groups of 4 to tell about their family basing on teacher s suggestions.’ - After 4mins, each presenter stand up & tell about one member in his/her family. 8mins Consolida -tion & Home- work - Summarize: You have read about the home life of a family. - Ask sts to study the new words at home & do the 2 tasks again in the notebook. - Listen to remember. - Study the new words at home & do the 2 tasks again in the notebook.
