II. Aids: III. Procedure: I. Objectives : By the end of the lesson , Ss will be able to know : - How to prepare a new lesson, - How to learn & check the previous lesson - How to learn English well II. Teaching Aids : Student’s book ; work book III. Revision : Asking the students what they learnt last year or how they know English now IV. New lesson : TEACHER INTRODUCES “TIENG ANH 5” has 4 books. ( Two student books and two exercise books) • Each student book has 10 units. After 5 units has a review. • Each unit has 3 lessons • Each lesson has 4- 5 parts • Prepare for the academic year. Objectives : - By the end of this lesson, students will be able to ask and answer questions about where some is from. II. Teaching methods : - Communicative approach. - Techniques: + Ask and answer (say individually) + Work in pairs/ groups. + Discuss. III. Teaching aids : - Teacher’s aids: student’s and teacher’s book, word cards, pictures, tape, cassette, puppets. - Students’ aids: books, notebooks, workbooks. IV. Languages focus : - Vocabulary: summer, camp, different, country( countries), Malaysia – Kuala Lumpur , Thailand – Bangkok, the USA – New York, Indonesia - Jakarta - Structures: A: Where’s he from? B: He’s from Malaysia. A: Where in Malaysia is he from? B: Kuala Lumpur. V. Procedures : Teacher’s activities Students’ activities  Warm up * Brainstorming: - Give the names of countries and cities that they learnt or know - Listen and ask Ss to repeat each word - Listen and check - Listen and answer Malaysia, Thailand, Lao, Vietnam, Bangkok, New York,… - Listen and copy I. Look, listen and repeat - Ask Ss to look at each picture and get them to identify the familiar characters and the new ones - Ask Ss to discuss what is happening in each picture. II. Point, ask and answer - Point to the picture a,b,c,d and say: These are the children at the summer camp in Vietnam. They come from many countries. - T gives an example: point to picture a say: This is Zack. He’s from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. - Ask Sts to repeat the words in each picture then ask Sts to read the example. - Elicit their prompt to complete the text in the speech bubbles. - T gives the example: Where’s he from? He’s from Malaysia Where in Malaysia is he from? Kuala Lumpur - Call on some pairs to perform the task at the front of the class. Objectives : - By the end of this lesson, Students will be able to pronounce correctly the sound of the letter “ese” and that of the letter “ian”; listen and read for specific information - Develop listening, speaking and reading skills. II. Teaching methods : - Communicative method. - Techniques: + Work in pairs + Work in groups, discuss. III. Teaching aids : - Teacher’s aids: Tape cassette, pictures, poster, word cards. - Students’ aids: book, notebook, workbook. IV. Languages focus : * Vocabulary: masks, model, cultural show, Twin Towers * Phonics: Vietnamese Indonesian V. Procedures : Teacher’s Activities Students’ Activities  Warm-up: * Slap the board - Use flags of the countries - Look at the pictures - Play the game slap the board - Keys: Lao, Indonesia, Malaysia, the USA, Thailand, Australia. I. Listen and repeat: - Have Ss open the book page 8, look at the words Vietnamese, Indonesian and notice the letter colored differently in both words. - Produce the sounds of the letters ese in the word Vietnamese and the letters ian in the word Indonesian. Listen and read together: - Have Ss look at Pictures a, b on page 8 - Elicit the identification of the characters in the pictures and the characters’ words. - Teaching vocabulary: + cultural show (explain) + twin towers (translate) + lantern (visual) - Checking vocab: Rub out and remember - Ask Ss to read each dialogue & repeat each line. - Ask Sts to listen and clap once for the words with “ese” & clap twice for the words with “ian” - Play the recording twice - Divide class into four groups to take turns to repeat the lines from Mai, Akio, Azmi and Zack. - Tapescripts: (recording) - Identify the characters in the pictures. - Look and listen - Listen and repeat - Check vocab - Read each dialogue and repeat - Listen and clap - Listen again - Work in groups III. Group and say aloud: - Get Sts to look at the chart & the word box. Explain the activity and the meaning of the focused words. - Ask Ss to say each word and get Sts to repeat a few times. - Do the first example with the class. - Set time and let Sts do the task in groups. - Ask Sts to check their answers in groups. - Call on some Sts to report their answers. - Have the whole class read in chorus all the words in each column. - Answers: • Vietnamese: Chinese, Japanese Indonesian: Australian, Cambodian, Malaysian, Laotian - Look at the chart on page 8 - Say and repeat each word - Look at the T - Work in groups for correction - Check their answers - Report the answers to the class.
