Lesson plan grade 10 Le Thi Bao Tram Week 1 Date of preparing: 08/08/2010 Period: 1 LESSON PLAN LESSON: REVISION I. Objectives: - Review some important grammar points of English 9 to help them remind a general system of what they learnt - Introduce the content of English 10. II. Preparation : handouts, textbook III. Procedure Teacher’s Activities Students’ Activities I. Grammar points of English 9: 1. T reminds some grammar points of English 9: Tenses: The simple past tense, the present perfect tense. Ex: He has learnt English since he came here last year. Present per. s. past 2. The past simple with WISH: Ex: I wish I were rich. 3. The passive voice: Ex: Rice is grown in tropical countries. 4. Conditional clauses: * Type 1: Ex: If we work hard, we will get good marks * Type 2: Ex: If you saw a UFO, what would you do? 5. Direct and reported speech: Ex: Aunt Xuan said, “ I am happy to see you, Lan”.  Aunt Xuan told Lan that she was happy to see her. 6.Tag questions: Ex: You have read this article on the webside, haven’t you? 7. Gerunds: Ex: She enjoys cooking on weekends 8. Relative clauses: Ex: Vietnam, which is in south-east Asia, exports rice. II. Practice: - T asks Ss to do the exercises in handouts in groups - T checks and corrects. -Listen. Ss work in groups * Rewrite the sentences as directed: 1. Objectives: After the lesson the students - will be able to talk about their daily routines by learning a typical day of a farmer. - practice reading for gist and scanning for details II. Preparation : textbooks, handouts, cassette … III. Procedure Teacher’s Activities Students’ Activities 1. Warmer: (3mn) - Gives Ss handout and introduce the way to do it. Post-reading: (10mn) - Ask Ss to work in groups and talk about Mr. Vy and Mrs. Tuyet daily routines. - Goes around and provides help. - Calls on some Ss to give a short talk about the daily routines of these two farmers. 5. Homework: (2mn) - Write about your father’s / mother’s routine - Work in pairs - Some Ss read aloud the answers. - Some pairs practise again. Others listen to. - Compare the notes with a friend - Work in groups -Some Ss give a short talk. Others listen to. -Learn by heart new words -Prepare the new lesson IV. Warmer: (3mn) T asks Ss to make a list of the subjects you learn at school. Call on some Ss to write down on the board 2. Pre-speaking: (10mn) - What else do you study at school? While-speaking: (20mn) Task 1: T says: Quan is a tenth-grade student. He goes to school every morning. Now, look at his weekly timetable ask and answer questions by using the information from the timetable. - Asks Ss to read Quan’s weekly timetable and do the task. - T calls some pairs to ask and answer in front of the class. Task 2: - Teacher explains the task to students. - Asks Ss to look at the pictures in the book and talk about Quan’s activities. - Model some questions to students. a. What time does Quan get up? b. What does Quan do before school time? c. What does he do after school time? Then asks Ss to work in pairs. Goes around and helps Ss. - Calls on two pairs to practise in front of the class. 4. Post-speaking: (10mn) - Ask one or two students to talk about their daily routine. - Ask the others to ask and answer about their friends’ daily routine. 5. Homework: (2mn) - Have students rewrite task 3 at home and retell in class next period. Ss close the books. Students answer: English, Literature … Work in pairs Read Quan’s weekly timetable individually. - Ask and answer in pairs - Two pairs practice in front of the class. Quan gets up at 14:00 p.m. At 14:15p.m he studies or reads books. At 16:30p.m he watches TV. Then at 17:00p.m , he cycles to the stadium and plays football with his friends at 17:15 p.m. At 18:30p.m he returns home. The pictures in your textbook (on page 16) describe his activities. Listen to the tape. Objectives: After the lesson the students - will be able to write a narrative within 100-120 words by using suggested words cues or ideas prompts. II. Pre- writing:(10mn) * Task 1( p.17) T asks Ss to open their books T explains some new words: - stare death in the face(v) - fasten seat belt(v) - be due to(a) because of; owing to - take off (v) - air-hostess(n) - be in danger(v) - relieved(a) T asks Ss to skim the text and find out the verbs used in the simple past tense and time expressions (first, then….) in groups. T expresses that simple past tense is used to report a story. T goes around the class to check and help. T conducts the correction. * Task 2(p.18) T explains the requirements T asks Ss to work in groups to identify the events, the climax, and the conclusion of the story. T goes around the class to check and help. T asks Ss to report their results in front of the class. 3. While- writing:(20mn) * Task 3: (p.18) T explains the requirements T asks Ss to work in groups to use the prompts to build up a narrative about a hotel fire Help students if they have difficulties in writing. Call on some students to present their writing on the board. Correct their mistakes if it is necessary. 4. Post- writing: (7mn) T gives corrections and comments to one or two groups in front of the class. Work individually.
