Part-time jobs have become popular and are a matter of concern to everyone, especially students This study was conducted to determine the tendency of students to choose part-time jobs Besides, the study also considers other aspects such as when choosing a part-time job and the reasons affecting students Or the factors students will consider when deciding to choose a part-time job Therefore, a survey was conducted to collect the answers related to the 3 research questions Through all the above factors, this study also provides certain useful information for all HUBT students and all students who want or are looking for part-time jobs

PART A: INTRODUCTION

1 Rationale for the study

Nowadays, a part-time job is very popular among college students It is gradually becoming an essential part of their lives Although there are various choices in different fields, most of them tend to work in the industry they choose

at school Therefore, I will research the part-time job tendency of HUBT students

2 Aims and objectives of the study

We know, these days young people in Vietnam always want to have a part-time job while they are in university It has become really popular among students and even adults, as it is affordable and easily becomes “addictive” Consequently, the need of finding part-time jobs brings more working experiences to college students Therefore, I decided to research to have a deeper understanding of HUBT students’ points of view on the trend of working part-time jobs It will help me understand more about the jobs and the reasons why they are interested in doing part-time work

3 Research questions

- What is the real situation of HUBT students doing part-time jobs?

- What are the opinions of HUBT students on the advantages and

disadvantages of doing part-time jobs?

- How do HUBT students think they can overcome challenges when they do part-time jobs?

4 Scope of the study

This study focused on college students’ part-time jobs and their academic performance This study covers the 60 select college students in the second year

at Hanoi University of Business and Technology wherein there were 30 college students in Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Major in Marketing and 30 participants in Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Major in Entrepreneurship The participants of the study are college students who are learning HUBT

5 Design of the study

This study consists in three parts:

PART A: Introduction

In this part, I will introduce the rationale, the aim of study, research questions, scope of study, and the design of the study

PART B: Development

In this part, we will focus on:

+) Survey questionnaire, data analysis as well as method

+) Result, Remark, Suggestions: presents the findings and recommendations PART C: Conclusion

This part summarises the main points presented in this research with limitations and suggestions for further study is added

PART B: DEVELOPMENT

1 Material collection

To present, I use two main data sources: Primary Data and Secondary Data

* Primary Data:

- The research survey questionnaire seeks information about salary, times etc when people have part-time jobs

- The questions will be given out to about 60 students at HUBT to address the most relevant and effective questions

- The answers will be collected and used as information for the research

*SecondaryData:

- Look up some information for research on the Internet, articles, magazines,

or other sources, which are taken before and have the keyword of “Part-time jobs": Darlena Cunha (2018) Part-Time Job and Students’ Academic

2.2 Research setting

From September 4 to 7 collected data.th th

From September 8 – 9 create survey questionnaires on google Forms andth th sent links to students

From September 11 -13 interviewed 20 th th college students in Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Major in Marketing

From September 14 -16 gathered informationth th

Finally, on September 17 started to make a plan writing.th

3 Result, remark

A part-time job is an experience that students should have It helps you gain experience, struggle in your life and create new relationships Not everyone has a good job with a lot of income at the start, so you need to try to understand as well as possible, and show your ability to get a suitable job

Secondly, part-time jobs are not for lazy people The harder your work, the easier to reach your dreams, and the easier to reach higher positions in your life

A part-time job is the first piece for you to complete the picture of your life Thirdly, a part-time job is the best way to educate a big extravagant spender They will appreciate the money that they make by themselves Especially for students who are being raised by their parents

1 Recaputation

We can see that most of the students today have part-time jobs The reasons explain for that is this is not a demanding job However, it has a reasonable salary and flexible time for students

This project aimed at HUBT students who had the experience of working part-time In our research, we want to give some information about the trend of doing part-time jobs Moreover, this also provides advantages and disadvantages

of this job through HUBT students’ experiences Besides, this research offered the solutions they have used to overcome the challenge when they were doing at their workplace Over recent years, business in Vietnam has been increasing a lot, and we can see that recruitment articles are everywhere So, this means that they need more workers After completing this survey, we found that although these are easy jobs, it still has some challenges for workers This study can help new workers can know the real situation of these jobs, and workers who are

doing part-time jobs can find solutions to solve this job’s challenges.

2 Limitation of the study

Although the study has certain strong points such as collection methods, and survey questionnaires for students, due to limited time, lack of sources, and other unexpected factors, it is obvious that the study has got some short-coming Despite the mentioned limitations, I hope that this exploratory research will contribute to a better situation in choosing a part-time job

3 Suggestions for further study

Because of the limitations, this study could not cover all aspects of the study Besides, the study only focuses on college students in their second year at Hanoi University of Business and Technology Moreover, for further studies, to get better results, the research should invite more participants and the data collection

method Together with using survey questionnaires and interviews, observation

is also necessary to get more persuasive conclusions All in all, despite the study, can avoid the limitation, the research has been completed under the guidance of the supervisor and self-effort Any comments and criticism will be highly appreciated for better further study
