A OBJECTIVES: : By the end of the lesson,:

Ss will be able to understand which countries they are in and according to their symbol, we

can guess which coutries, cities they are in

- T asks Ss to look at the pictures and guess where they are in

1 Think of the city, country, or landmark give clues Your classmates guess.

(Activity 4/P.31)

- T asks Ss to work in groups of four Choose a country/ city/ landmark themselves to guess what it is Arrange groups of four to play the game Each group then chooses the most dfficult city that they had to guess in their group and presents it to the whole class as a challenge

- Example:

A: It is a city It is very hot and crowed

B: Is it Tokyo?

A: No, it’s not It’s in South America The people there love football

B: Is it Rio de Janeiro?

A: Yes, it is!

2 Consolidation:

- T uses suggested questions to sum up what Ss have learnt in the lesson

A OBJECTIVES: : By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:

1 Knowledge:

- reading Hanh Mai’s post card to understand love from Sweden then to know the form

of post card

- tell their friends about the city they have just arrived

2 Competences: Co- operation, Self - study, work in pairs, groups ,

3 Qualities: hardworking, responsible and honest

B PREPARATION:

1 Teacher: Textbook, planning, pictures, laptop, loudspeaker

C Procedure:

* Warm up: Shack attack

- T lets Ss play the game to find the word “POSTCARD”

I Pre-reading:

1 Set the scene:

- T shows the postcard of Stockholm, Sweden and asks Ss some questions

1 What is the picture on the post card of?

2 What do you think is written on this postcard?

3 What is the purpose of writing and sending postcard while you are on holiday?

- T asks Ss quickly read the postcard to check their predictions

- T gets feedback and gives answers

* Key:

1.The photos is of Stockholm, Sweden

2.The sender writes about his/her stay in the city

3 We send postcards to tell our family and/or friends that we are having a good time, but we still miss them and want to send some photos of the place where we are so that, although they cannot be with us there they can still see how beautiful it is

II While –reading:

1 Comprehension questions:

- T asks Ss to read the postcard again to answers the questions of Ex 2/P.32

- T gets feedback and gives corrections

* Key:

1 Mai is in Stockholm

2 She is there with her family ( Mum, Dad, and her brother Phuc.)

3 The weather has been perfect It is sunny

4 Mai is staying in a hotel

5 She has visited the Royal Palace and “fica” in a cafe in the Old Town

6 “Fika” (a Swedish word) means a leisure break when one drinks tea/ coffee and perhaps has some biscuits with friends and family ( Ss may not get it correct right away but do ask them to guess from the words have a fika in a cafe.)

7 She will cycle to discover the city

8 Mai is feeling happy

2 Matching:

- T asks Ss to match the heading s with the numbers

- T gets fedback and gives corrections

III Post – reading: Speaking activity

- T gives topic: “ You choose a city Imagine you have just arrived in that city and want to tell your friends about it Make notes below

+ How do you feel now?

- T asks Ss to work in pair to tell their partner about your city

IV Consolidation:

- write a holiday postcard to their frends or family

2 Students: Textbook, notebook, pen.

C Procedure:

* Warm up: Chatting

- T shows the pictures of Stockholm

- T asks Ss: What do you see in the pictures?

- Ss answer: Royal Palace, Nobel museum, restaurants, shops, islands

I Pre –listening:

1 Prediction:

- T and Ss run through the true/ false statements of Ex 2/P.33

- T expalains some new words:

- T asks Ss to guess true or false

II While – listening:

- A holiay postcard: who/ what/ when/ where/ why/ How

- T asks Ss to write 5 Ws and H1 on the board and ask Ss to give examples

- Draw the attention to the postcard in 3, page 21 in student book Make questions and find the information from the postcard that gives the answers

- Ss study to use exclamation marks

2 Rearrange the words to make sentences.(Activity 4/P.33)

3 Write a postcard ( Activity 5/P.33)
