It can not be denied that English is an important language in the modern world Because it is spoken at a useful level by some 1.75 billion people worldwide – that is one in every four (according to The English Effect Report of British Council) Therefore, learning and using English fluently is the goal that everyone is aiming for English centers were created to assist people in becoming fluent English speakers One of the centers, Rock 3T English Center, is well-known for the caliber of instruction and the commitment of staff and teachers to assisting kids in using English more effectively Although officially established for six years, all Rock 3T staff and teachers strive to develop and improve in order to create more valuable contributions to society After one month of an internship at Rock 3T, I have gained useful knowledge and experience of teaching English With the support of my supervisor and team leader, I got an overview of how an education company works This practical and useful knowledge is luggage for me to be more confident when actually entering the working environment later I am thankful and grateful to the English lectures at Thuongmai University and the staff is an English center for children under Tung Tran Vietnam Co., Ltd This center offers English courses for both students and professionals Rock 3T was officially established in 2018 with the goal of becoming one of the best English centers for children in Hanoi The founder of the center is Mr Tran Thanh Tung, who has many years of experience studying and working in the US The company provides educational services both online and offline In addition, Rock 3T is well known for children from preschool through high school After six years of establishment and development, Tung Tran Vietnam Co., and online, and create a comfortable and convenient learning environment for self-study and self-practice at home 1.4 Business field English classes for a range of ages, from kids to adults, are the company's principal commodity in the education sector The curriculum is built and developed by the CEO, Tran Thanh Tung, and the staff of the R & D department The center searches, edits and adds English materials such as English books, English comics, English videos, English listening books, English exercises to provide students with a cozy and intimate learning atmosphere The Center has two main forms of teaching: face-to-face classes and online classes In-person classes are suitable for those who live near the center, while online classes are suitable for those who live far from the center and those who work Online classes are held through the Zoom application with a model of teacher - student Currently, the company only has one – to - one online classes with adult learners to create the most favorable conditions for learning English The center is divided into levels: English for children and English for adults ● English for children: The main product is English programs for children Programs are designed to suit different levels, including communication and grammar The ages range from to 15 years old, and they are divided into several different levels The entrance test will assign suitable students ● English for adults: Courses are built in accordance with adult goals, such as being able to communicate fluently, having a solid English foundation to achieve ● Online classes: - Vocabulary and grammar: This program includes levels from basic to advanced: AA, BB, CC At each level, the topic of the lesson provides many new words with illustrations and no Vietnamese meanings for students to use both listening and visual memory skills In addition, BB and CC levels have common English questions that help children get used to communicating in English and lay the foundation for higher levels in the communication class Grammar is also compiled to suit the students' level and is based on the national education curriculum at the primary and lower secondary levels - Communication: This program is divided into levels, including levels 1, 2, and Most of the participants in this course already have a basic understanding of English but lack responses to questions or have no idea how to answer the question completely - Communication for adults: This course is designed for people who have jobs related to English and need to improve their is at the top Under the CEO position is the general manager Additionally, it includes four departments, including those for HR, training, marketing & sales, and accounts ● CEO: Be responsible for running the business of the company, he makes the company’s strategic and operational decisions He is also responsible for ensuring that the company meets its statutory obligations The CEO plays an important role in managing the activities of departments in accordance with the company’s strategy, which helps the company increase productivity and profit ● General Manager: Be responsible for managing the English center, including enrollment, sales, and marketing People who work as Managers themselves need to understand their work as well as their responsibilities to the center ● HR Department: Responsible for recruiting people for the company, including salespeople, teachers, and marketers This is an important department because good sales and marketing will bring a lot of revenue, and good teachers will bring a lot of prestige ● Training Department: Manage the training program, as well as the quality of teachers, modify the curriculum, and change the method when it is really necessary The job of training manager includes: training new teachers; inspection, evaluation and quality assurance after the courses; and revise the syllabus after the courses for the best quality ● Marketing & Sales Department: Be in charge of bringing the image of the center to customers and society as a whole to create large and effective programs It is also responsible for convincing customers to enroll and of course the sales manager holds a great responsibility in bringing success to the company ● R&D Department: Is responsible for researching all factors related to Center in years (2021, 2022) In general, the company had a slight growth despite being affected by the Covid-19 pandemic Total revenue increased by 9.9% (677,429 thousand VND) Profit after tax increased by 25.1% (106,117 thousand VND) Although the Covid - 19 pandemic caused offline classes to be suspended, Rock 3T switched to online teaching in a stable way In the near future, the company aims to achieve times the profit in 2022 Information about internship’s department At Rock 3T, the training room plays an indispensable role The training room consists of teachers, examiners and R&D Because it fits with my major and professional goals, I decided to my internship in the training room I assume the role of an English instructor with a teaching role in particular Besides, I take part in the role of the center's testing collaborator The training department has the role of training teachers, examiners and developing the main curriculum content for all levels Each course has tests: an entrance test, a midterm exam, and a final exam Every month, the training department will hold an online meeting to train all teachers in the company on effective teaching methods and how to handle common problems faced by students during the course Teachers are often assessed in terms of both knowledge and skills Therefore, the training department will propose solutions for each different case Any feedback from teachers and judges will help the R&D team to create and improve the curriculum for a better version In short, the teaching position helps me gain more experience in teaching methods as well as understand the psychology of students At the same time, the position of test collaborator helps me to know the current status of English use and the level of learners CHAPTER 2: INTRODUCTION ABOUT INTERNSHIP PROCESS IN ROCK 3T TUNG TRAN COMPANY LIMITED Tasks performed during the internship The purpose of education in universities and colleges is to prepare students for careers as highly technical professionals for society, not just to impart theory from textbooks I was therefore motivated and actively searching for employment options that matched my objectives I applied for Rock 3T and am currently the center's official teacher after working three jobs that required English During my internship at Rock 3T, I trained to become an English teacher for students in grade through 10 I had the freedom to select the period of time and mode of instruction that suited my schedule Therefore, I have had the opportunity to experience teaching both in person and online Because children make up the audience, it is important for the presentation to be engaging and grab the pupils' attention I have created a strategy specifically for it and have been considering what I can to advance my knowledge and abilities in a setting that requires professional labor I did an internship from January 2nd , 2023 to February 10th, 2023 at Rock 3T My assignments during the internship were arranged in the following manner: No Week Time Main activities From January - Research on company culture 2nd to8th , 2023 - Learn about the center's courses and teaching methods suitable for each level - Become familiar with online platforms (eg Zoom, Google meet ) that support the teaching process - Learn how to organize online classes that are not boring - Join an offline class to see how to manage a large class of students - Write a report after taking the offline class - Learn how to make the classroom more energetic Week From January - Prepare materials for offline lessons 9th to15th, 2023 - Participate in class as a teaching assistant - Write a report after class - Prepare midterm exams for students - Drafting documents; Warm-up game for the class - Record students' comments on the assessment sheet - Participate in training meeting and get feedback from supervisor - Write a report for the first week after working as a teaching assistant Week From children's learning - Join other students' classes to see teaching methods - Check students' English ability after lessons and give feedback to the group leader - Write a report on what you have learned after weeks of practice - Get feedback from your supervisor and practice improving your teaching skills The difficulties and experiences 2.1 Difficulties The internship is kind of like a big test for me to figure out my current skills and limitations Being an English teacher intern not only allows me to obtain more practical teaching experience, but it also teaches me other soft skills like time management, planning, and student attention-getting techniques In addition, I became aware of my coworkers' sincerity, attention, and excitement for their work as well as their warmth These elements have greatly strengthened my motivation to pursue a career as an English teacher 11 As a trainee, I struggled a lot and made a few mistakes Here are the three most difficult issues I encountered while working at the Rock 3T The largest challenge is the nervousness when teaching English directly Even though I had two years of tutoring experience before to that, I was nonetheless anxious about teaching English in front of a sizable class I make an effort to plan lectures and practice them frequently at home But every time I stand at the stage, I feel uneasy and anxious that I would say something incorrectly I followed the instructor's advises and made an effort to get rid of this pointless anxiousness Moreover, one challenge I frequently see is pupils' lack of attention when learning online When there are numerous advantages to online learning for students, it also makes it challenging for them to concentrate while listening to lectures They occasionally disturb me while I'm conducting private activities like drinking water, conversing with others, or even sneakily munching on snacks So, before each class, I established a rule and enlisted the parents' assistance To promote teacher-student connection, I also changed the lesson plan's content and included extracurricular activities like games, storytelling, and song-on-demand listening Last but not least, I struggle to manage my time when I'm teaching In a lesson that lasts longer than an hour, I'm in charge of instructing students in vocabulary, grammar, and even communication I must therefore thoroughly consider and prepare the material I will teach But occasionally I have issues outside of class, and we don't finish on time I find it very challenging to strike a balance between teaching time and student comprehension 2.2 The experiences The internship period was undoubtedly the most priceless time of your academic career My internship gives me a thorough understanding of the position I seek, which allows me to provide a more accurate orientation I learned priceless lessons for myself that an internship can only provide 12 The first lesson learned was that I knew how to teach to get students' attention I discovered several fresh and intriguing things that can aid pupils in focusing on the topic after seeing many teachers present in various classes To encourage more involvement, I might, for instance, ask the kids a lot of intriguing questions, or we might play a game or watch a film together As a result, pupils will pick up new material quickly and eagerly anticipate their next English lesson Second, I developed time management skills I'm usually nervous and worn out trying to find the right amount of stuff to teach in the allotted time I've developed a useful approach to solve this issue after giving both in-person and online lessons The most crucial element is planning I must thoroughly prepare the lesson material and thoughtfully allocate the allotted teaching time In addition, I need to practice having the best response when faced with unforeseen circumstances Finally, I learned soft skills while working in a professional environment Soft skills are just as important as hard skills At Rock 3T, I learned useful skills such as problem-solving, judgment and decision-making, teamwork skills As a result, I avoided unnecessary mistakes and feel more mature 13 CHAPTER 3: THE REALITY OF USING ENGLISH IN THE ROCK 3T Reality of using English in the Rock 3T Rock 3T is an English center that has been operating for years, so there is no doubt about the quality of its teachers as well as its facilities After month of internship at this place, I draw comments on the advantages and limitations of the practice of using English at Rock 3T In terms of advantages, the center has a team of high-quality teachers A prerequisite to applying for a job at Rock 3T is that you must have an international English certificate such as IELTS, TOEIC, TOEFL Besides, applicants have an advantage if they have good teaching experience or are students of English departments of universities across the country Therefore, all the teachers use English at levels ranging from pretty good to excellent In addition, the center has good curriculum The curriculum for communication classes is required to use 80% English in the learning process However, this may vary slightly to suit the student's abilities as well as the nature of the lesson For example, in lessons that focus more on grammar, teachers are allowed to use more Vietnamese to explain knowledge Or, when teaching vocabulary through seeing pictures and listening to sounds, teachers can explain what the word means in Vietnamese in case students don't understand its meaning clearly On the other hand, the center still has a few shortcomings that need to be improved The first thing to improve is the content for training sessions More than 500 teachers are assigned to an online meeting room at training sessions The large number of teachers and their varying qualifications make the training sessions unsuitable for their needs In addition, the content of the training session only focused on lectures without soft skills Many new teachers or trainees like me, for example, lack many soft skills such as communication skills, teaching skills, 14 problem-solving skills, teamwork skills Therefore, training sessions cannot overcome the limitations of the teachers In addition, there is a huge difference in the use of English in different departments within the company Because most of the staff in other departments rarely use English except for the training room The staff can't speak English, or they only know some basic sentences This is a dark spot in the company's efforts to encourage employees to regularly use English Therefore, in order for the company to develop further and better adapt to the current times, employees need to know how to speak English at a basic level of communication In general, each company has its own advantages and disadvantages In order for the company to survive and develop more firmly, it needs to eliminate its shortcomings Solutions to improve the use of English in the working environment at Rock 3T Although the company is on the rise, it needs solutions to improve the outstanding negative points as well as promote the positive ones Therefore, improving the status of English use at Rock 3T is essential to achieving this goal First, the company should develop English courses for all employees The purpose of the course is to help employees improve their English They can use English in daily communication such as writing reports, reading documents, and writing emails in English, perfecting skills (including listening, speaking, reading and writing) However, the company noted the reasonable arrangement of time and division of stages as well as flexible output requirements in different departments Second, it is very important to organize learning activities in different forms The organization of these activities helps the company not only encourage the spirit of learning English from each other but also increase their solidarity Activities that use English within the company can be listed as English singing and dancing contests, English word matching games, English story
