Complete an internship that lasts more than four weeks 2.2 The difficulties and lessons are withdrawn from the internship process at PANTADO JSC The internship is indeed the most valuable time to reap tremendously useful things that energize me to improve myself, acquire essential skills, and apply what I obtained at school in practice Additionally, that was a time when I had a chance to 12 get practical experience in a professional working environment before officially joining the labor force However, apart from those advantages, I encountered a myriad of obstacles Despite my previous teaching assistant experience, I realized several weaknesses in my teaching skills This is the first time I have taken over the position of teacher I initially felt shy and found it difficult to interact with children That barrier prevented me from expressing active and positive energy in each lesson, and I was discouraged and intended to quit However, after getting encouragement from seniors in the department, I got back on track and decided to break through that barrier and step out I finally did it, and now I am much more confident in my teaching skills Additionally, the thing that I felt was most difficult to teach is pronunciation I almost worked from home with children via a small screen during the period of social distancing What’s more, it is also combined with the drawbacks of learning online, such as low internet connection, low-standard devices, and other external factors; hence, I found it difficult to teach them to pronounce most words properly Besides, children are too young to fully understand the theory of pronunciation; therefore, it got even more challenging for me to teach them online Moreover, the children are still giddy and hyperactive, so they are easily distracted during the lesson, and this made me remind them to focus on the lesson time and time again For a newbie like me, who did not have much teaching experience as an advantage, that was an awful obsession to overcome Finally, I have to depend too much on the quality of the internet My class will be disrupted if the internet quality is unstable Moreover, it hurts and tires my eyes to look at a computer screen all day. 2.3 The experiences I was able to overcome these challenges and successfully complete my internship procedure because of my never-ending effort Even though weeks is a short period of time, it was sufficient for me to feel satisfied and push myself in ways I had never done before Here are some of the things that I obtained after doing an internship at Pantado JSC: 13 • Improving English skills: Being aware of the important role of a teacher made me pay unceasing attention to professional skills, especially pronunciation It requires me to try hard to practice and improve my pronunciation properly so that I will not make mistakes in teaching That is the most significant change I realized by myself I currently feel more confident in communicating than before • Being more creative: Since I got the opportunity to work in an educational environment (Pantado JSC), I've reminded myself to be more creative and innovative every day to meet the standards the company sets out for each member For that reason, I must create a fun and energetic studying environment for children to be more engaged in my lessons For example, instead of totally following the materials provided by the center, I will take more practical examples and demonstrations that are friendly to children In that way, it will give them a clearer picture to understand and update social knowledge to grow both emotionally and cognitively • Teamwork skills: The time when I worked at Pantado JSC increasingly showed me the importance of teamwork, despite using this skill at school I gradually overcame some self-imposed prejudices that had previously held me back from stepping out and being more open with the people with whom I collaborated Instead of working alone as before, I began proactively contacting others about all problems and precisely completing tasks required by the department • Cultural behavior: During my internship, I learned how to communicate with and bond with the people I worked with I learned how to introduce myself and how to ask questions in order to gain a better understanding of businesses I recognized that I am much more mature and have developed numerous good habits that I did not have before, such as focusing on self - discipline, meeting deadlines on time, being willing to take responsibility for the assigned task and so on Learning methods of teaching: In the process of the internship, I had training with many teachers and managers I learned a lot of useful lessons and gained valuable experience from 14 professional managers and teachers who have worked at the center for many years, including how to organize a class and deal with situations that arise in class It is an essential skill for my career path CHAPTER THE REALITY OF USING ENGLISH AT PANTADO JSC 3.1 The description of the reality of using English at Pantado JSC The use of English is obvious because it is a prominent online English center Teachers and students in every Pantado class are required to communicate in English at least 80% of the time Nevertheless, this principle may need to be adjusted based on the pupils' listening abilities As a stark example, with lessons on new grammar structures, teachers need to use Vietnamese more clearly for students to understand In addition, after each periodic test, the teacher must write an evaluation form, which will have to use both English and Vietnamese After each training session, the teacher must write a report in English Therefore, the use of English at work in Pantado is quite extensive Since 2020, the recruitment policy for English certifications has required 850 Toeic or 6.5 Ielts The requirements for the level of English are less stringent for each of the different departments The majority of employees who have been employed for a long time (more than three years) have obtained TOEIC certificates with scores between 450 and 500 All of the foreign teachers at Pantado are from the Philippines As a result, when Pantado negotiates with partners or exchanges contracts with them, English is also chosen as the official language The training department has a basic command of English Because the department requires staff to have a higher level of English proficiency in order to work with more foreign partners, they exchange information and deal with problems involving students and teachers via email However, individuals in the sales or accounting departments are not able to use English at work In Pantado, almost 90% of the company's employees are Vietnamese; even though their work requires English, it frequently has a pre-formatted format or relies on available tools They communicate with others in Vietnamese It means that it is very hard for them to use English verbally That's why their English skills won't be 15
