dành cho trẻ em INTRODUCTION In this era, globalization is the trend to develop the inner power of every country to its maximum Therefore, we need a tool to connect everyone and make communication between nations easier That is the mission of English—the international language of the world Many parents tend to give their children to English centers after school to study English with the hope that they will soon use English fluently Because they think that is a perfect background for them in the future, and many English centers are founded for those reasons At Rock 3T English center, staff and teachers always make an effort to bring the best lessons for children to help them use English better Although it was officially founded years ago, with the spirit of young people in the 21 st century, all the employees of Rock 3T in particular and Tung Tran Vietnam company in general are trying to create a more valuable contribution to society After a 1-month internship at Rock 3T, I gained useful knowledge and experience in teaching English Along with the assistance of the supervisor and team leader, I had an overview of the way an educational company runs I am thankful to the lectures of Thuongmai University’s English faculty and staff from Rock 3T and also from Tung Tran Vietnam for supporting me to complete this report Because the internship is only one month and a half long, and I worked online during that time, I cannot avoid making mistakes while writing this report I am eager to receive feedback from the lectures in order to improve this report.  CHAPTER 1: GENERAL REVIEW OF TUNG TRAN VIETNAM AND ROCK 3T Information about Tung Tran Vietnam 1.1 General overview of the company Tung Tran Vietnam LLC is a company that has business activities in the educational field This company provides English courses for both children and adults Rock 3T is an English center for children under Tung Tran Vietnam LLC With the experience of studying and working in America for many years, the founder, Tran Thanh Tung, opened his first classes in 2014, and then Rock 3T was officially founded in 2018 and aims to be one of the best English centers for children in Hanoi The company provides educational services both online and offline Rock 3T is a specific brand for children, and this is where I my internship The business of online courses for adults is managed directly by the company Through development over years, now the company has branches of Rock 3T in Hanoi and more than 500 teachers across the country - Business name: Tung Tran Vietnam of Tung Tran Vietnam Image 1.2: Logo of Rock 3T 1.2 Business field The company works in the field of education and the primary product is English classes for many other ages All the course books are developed by the CEO and R&D department Besides offline classes, online classes are held through Zoom with the model of teacher – student For children, offline classes are only available for children For adults, the company now only provides the form of online 1-1 classes  English for children (Rock 3T): The main product is English programs for children The programs are designed to be proper with many other levels, including communication and grammar The age ranges from to 15 years old, and they are divided into many other levels The entrance test will classify students into suitable classes  English for adult: This course is built to help learners have the ability to communicate in English with the common questions in daily life and at the office Almost all customers are people who know a little bit about English However, because of not using it for a long time, they can not speak English fluently or have a standard pronunciation 1.3 Training program  Online class: - Vocabulary: This program includes levels: AA, BB, and CC, and they raise the difficulty level in the order At each level, the topic of the lesson provides many new words with illustrated images and without Vietnamese meaning to make students use both their memorization skills through listening and viewing Besides, level CC has added common questions to help children get used to communicating in English and lay the foundation to go to a higher level in communicative class - Communication: This program is separated into levels, such as 1, and This course's students almost have a basic understanding of English but lack reflexes with questions or not know how to answer the question in a full sentence - Grammar: This course is based on the national educational program for primary and secondary schools - Communication for adult: This course is designed for people who have a job related to English and need to improve their English to serve their career purpose Because it only occurs in the form of a 1-1 online class, it’s convenient for them to arrange their free time to study  Offline class: Offline classes are organized depending on the age of children The model of an offline class is teacher, teacher assistant, and about 15-20 students The teaching program for this type of class is designed with many activities 1.4 Business result of Tung Tran Vietnam Through years developing since being founded, Tung Tran Vietnam LLC provides English courses for more than 12000 students years after officially running, although COVID-19 pandamic happened, the business result was not impacted too much Online classes were implemented eventhough before pandamic and they became the core products helping the company came through the difficult period The chart below shows the business result of the Two images below show the structure of the company, they include the departments in the whole company and parts in a branch As a new company in the market, Tung Tran Vietnam is trying to expand the department At Tung Tran Vietnam, I am under the management of departments: the training and sales department but I am mainly responsible for the tasks of the training department  The training department is responsible for training teachers, examiners and developing the content of the main course books for different levels Every course has tests: an entrance test, a mid-course test, and a final test Examiners will those tests and take note of the results for teachers Every month, the training department will organize an online meeting to train all of the teachers in the company about the method of teaching effectively and the way to cope with students' common problems through the course Teachers are often evaluated both in knowledge and skill Therefore, the training department will propose the solution for every different case All the feedback from teachers and examiners will help R&D staff to create and improve the course books to become the better versions  Sale Department: In each branch of Rock 3T, the sales department is divided into many teams Every team has a team leader, sales staff, examiners, and teachers The teachers and examiners belonging to which team will work for classes under that team Besides working as sales staff, they are also class managers If teachers face any problems related to classes and students, it will be addressed by them CHAPTER 2: INTRODUCTION ABOUT INTERNSHIP PROCESS IN ROCK 3T OF TUNG TRAN VIETNAM LLC 1.Tasks performed during the internship As regards an English center, the training department plays an important role They need to not only research and develop course books, but they also need to manage and train teachers to reach the standards in teaching Feedback from students and their parents is crucial to helping teachers increase their ability to teach and be creative in the process of working During my internship in Rock 3T, I was trained to be an English teacher for children’s classes I have a chance to be approved for both online and offline teaching Because all of my students are children, most of whom are studying at primary schools, teachers need to make the class have more energy My tasks in the internship were arranged in the following process: Time: from 20/7/2022 to 20/8/2022 Address: Rock 3T Cau Giay and online internship Week 1: Time Wednesday 20/7/2022 Tasks - Study about the company’s culture - Listen to the introduction about the courses of the center and the suitable method of teaching for each level Thursday - Learn the way to take full advangtage of Zoom for teaching 21/7/2022 online - Familiarize with the online platforms supporting the teaching process - Research the way to run an online class without boredom Friday 22/7/2022 - Take part in the offline class to view the way to manage the class with many students - Write the report after participating in offline classes - Learn the way to make class have more energy Week 2: Time Tasks Monday - Prepare the documents for the offline class 25/7/2022 - Participate in the class with the role of teacher assistant - Write a report after class Tuesday - Continue to be a teacher assistant in offline supervisor and practice increasing teaching skills The difficulties and experiences 2.1 Difficulties: An internship is a chance for undergraduate students to experience practically the job they will in the future and the environment in which it is done From this, students can see that not only does the work in reality conclude the knowledge at university, but it also needs more than that As a result, difficulties in the internship are unavoidable, and I am no exception The biggest problem, to me, is a lack of teaching skills I have not been a teacher assistant or a tutor yet That made me feel quite embarrassed in the first few 11 days of the internship I thought it was difficult to stand in front of so many students and teach Moreover, in an online class, the feature of it is the shortage of interaction That was a challenge for me when I needed to maintain the student’s animation I was told by my supervisor that the flow of teaching was fast Meanwhile, almost all my students were primary students, and that could make them have difficulty following me Besides, when I was responsible for an online communication class, I had a problem with teaching pronunciation Because the teacher and student only connected with each other through a screen, it was more difficult to understand what the teacher said I tried to describe the place of every part in the mouth when pronouncing any sound, but it seemed uneasy to follow and imagine them, especially since my students were small and those things were quite abstract for them In addition, in online classes, some students were mischievous; they easily lost concentration on the lesson and were impacted by factors around them The teacher could not control those factors, and it made me spend more time reminding students to focus on the lesson Normally, the improvement of this kind of student is not clear That was a challenge for a newbie like me when I did not have much experience in coping with such cases 2.2 The experiences Although I faced many difficulties in the internship, I also gained a lot of valuable experience for this position  Improving English: When I teach English to my students, many of the knowledge I need to review to prepare for the lesson is already there Onetime teaching is one time for me to review them Through a process of teaching many times, that made me remember them longer and my knowledge became more stable  Being creative: I spent much time researching how to create an interesting lesson that would attract my students That made me have to be creative to 12 complete them in many new modern forms of teaching instead of only using traditional lessons  Building relationships: I learnt the way to get on well with other people in the company because I needed to work with many staff, not only my students  Learning method of teaching: In the process of the internship, I had a chance to take part in classes of both Rock 3T’s teachers and other trainees, so I observed the way they organized a class and took notes on many important things for my classes I knew to interact with students and use body language more effectively 13 CHAPTER 3: THE REALITY OF THE USE OF ENGLISH IN TUNG TRAN VIETNAM LLC AND ROCK 3T 1.Reality of using English in the company and Rock 3T Rock 3T is an English center, so teachers and students are required to speak almost English in the class Normally, 80% of the main language used in the class is English However, this can be changed in the line with ability of students and the feature of the lesson For example, in grammar classes, teachers are allowed to use more Vietnamese to explain the knowledge It is a helpful environment to practice speaking English and get used to the reflex quickly Of course, using English in a company always has two hands On the one hand, the teachers and examiners often use English for work Because  the characteristic of the job is to teach and evaluate students, they can use English from good to fluent level Almost our students have problems in pronunciation and vocabulary The reason for this maybe is that the time to study English at school is not enough for them to practice speaking English That is the reason why teachers always make students speak English as much as they can in the class to create a good environment to learn English for them On the other hand, only the training department using at work Other staff in the company can not speak English or know some basic sentences This is a dark point in the effort of encouraging staff to often use English of the company They graduated from universities with diverse majors and they did not spend much time learning English when they were undergraduates Now they are working full-time, so it is difficult for them to have time to learn English again Moreover, Rock 3T mainly provides communication courses, therefore writing skill and reading skill are used with less frequency Teachers and examiners only use writing skills when they need to give comments after classes but that are short and basic sentences The company works in the Vietnamese market and does not 14 have the partner in foreign country, all the numbers and documents are in Vietnamese, so staff in other departments also not have chance to practice those skills 2.Some solutions to improve the use of English in the working environment at Rock 3T In the near future, Rock 3T plans to provide courses with native teachers and international education programs like YLE This will bring both new opportunities and challenges Improving the reality of using English at Rock 3T is essential to reach this target To increase the ability to use English for employees, the company should have a program to help them improve their English The training department plays an important role in this activity to design the content of the training program, and teachers and examiners will support them in communicating English With an available English environment, this is not difficult to implement However, arranging a suitable time is a concern because the employees still need to finish their tasks at work Besides, when the international factors appear, that means all the staff need to have a fixed level in English to work with foreign partners Not only speaking, but reading documents or writing email in English will also be compulsory if the company cooperates with foreign partners Therefore, a training course about writing emails should be combined with the program I mentioned above Employees will receive complete support for four English skills Of course, requirements for staff of other parts will not be as high as the training department’s staff Another way to create a good chance to study with each other is to organize activities to promote the interest in English in the inner company, like small competitions with a bonus for the prizes Commending and rewarding people for having excellent results in improving English is also an effective way to encourage the spirit of learning English among the staff Most of the workers in the company 15 are young people, so this kind of activity is not difficult for them to follow Furthermore, the company is on the road to reaching the goal set that I mentioned English will be the basic requirement if they want to work here, so taking part in those activities is the first step to adapting to this change I suggest those solutions based on my experience at Rock 3T, and I think they will be suitable methods for the present reality in the company Although it is not easy to
