UNIT 8: WHAT ARE YOU READING? Lesson (4,5,6) Date of planing: 18/11/2018 Date of teaching : 5A -19/11, 5B,5C 20/11/2018 I Objectives: By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to + Develope listening and reading skills + Practise the vocabulary by playing game “The Guessing Game” * Language contents: Vocabulary: Review Structure: Review Skills: listening, speaking and reading II Teaching methods: - Communicative approach - Techniques: + Ask and answer (say individually) + Work in pairs/ groups + Discuss III Teaching aids: Teacher: pupil’s and teacher’s book, picture, CD, cassette and falshcards Pupils: book, notebook, workbook IV Procedures: Teacher’s activities Student’s activities A.Class organization Good morning/ afternoon! Who is absent today? Good morning/ afternoon! B Warm up Spend a few minutes revising the previous lesson by inviting one or two pairs to ask Work in groups and Ask and answer answer questions about the book/story they are reading Do you read books in your freetime? What are you reading now? What’s your favourite book/ story? B New lesson Listen and tick - T asks ss to look at their books, read the - Look at the pitures and ask and sentences and guess the words to tick answer in pairs - T plays the recording (2 times) and asks - Listen to the CD ss to the task - Listen and repeat - T gets ss to compare their answers in pairs - Work in pairs - T plays the recording again to confirm the answers Give the key - Ask and answer in pairs - T asks ss to work in pairs asking and answering the question “ What’s Nam’s favourite book? /Mai/Linda/Tom then ask and answer about themselves - Work in groups Read and complete - T tells the class they are going to read and fill the gaps… - T asks ss to read the sentence in a few - Give their answer seconds - T has them the task in groups - T calls them to stick their answers on the board - T corrects the answers Give the key free; 2.reading; Snow; 4.seven; 5.like - Ss to read the lyrics - T calls one or two ss to read the - write down completed passage Let’s play - Tell the class that they are going to play a guessing game using movements and facial expressions to indicate words Call on one or two pupils to demonstrate the game Make sure pupils understand how to play it - Divide the class into two teams Show the frst team a word One pupil of this team must act it out If the second team guesses the word - Listen to the teacher correctly, they get a point Then let the second team act out a word while the frst team guesses Put all the words used in the game on the board - Set a time limit for pupils to play the game The team with more points at the end of the game wins - Play the game into two teams - Have the class make sentences with the words on the board D Consolidation - Spend a few minutes revising the content of the lesson by inviting three Ps to act out the story =   = ... pairs to ask Work in groups and Ask and answer answer questions about the book/story they are reading Do you read books in your freetime?
