Minutes of the MOBIUS E-Resources Committee Meeting January 8, 2018, 11:00pm – 12:00pm Online Members Present: Beth Caldarello, Chair Robert Burgess Phyllis Holzenberg Chris Vaughn Claudia Schoonover, MOBIUS Board Representative Christina Virden, Committee Organizer Lucy Wang North Central Missouri College Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary Drury University William Jewell College Missouri River Regional Library MOBIUS Missouri Southern State University Members Absent: Ethan Cordray Lincoln University Guests or Proxies Present: N/A N/A Call to order – Meeting was called to order shortly after 11:00am Adoption of the agenda – The agenda was adopted without any changes Approval of Minutes – The minutes were approved without any changes Minutes from the last meeting are available at https://mobiusconsortium.org/node/96 Information Items Christina provided a reminder about email lists and webpages related to the committee and how they are used o Information pertaining to the members of the committee, minutes, agendas, and annual reports can all be found on the E-Resources Committee Page on the new website - https://mobiusconsortium.org/node/96 o There are two mailing lists created for use by this committee: The e-resources@lists.mobiusconsortium.org is used for communication with staff at MOBIUS member libraries who are interested in issues related to e-resources about the activities of the committee and to discuss e-resources issues, generally, with the membership The comm-e-resources@lists.mobiusconsortium.org is for communication among the committee members only This way we can communicate easily without having to remember everyone's email addresses and will have an archive of all communications Page of Minutes of the MOBIUS E-Resources Committee Meeting January 8, 2018, 11:00pm – 12:00pm Online It was discussed that the committee would try to post questions, information and topics related to e-resources on the listservs to gather information and create interest in what is going on in the e-resources arena Claudia Schoonover discussed with the group the need for a public library listserv and the consideration of collecting information on eresources that would be appropriate for public library usage also Unfinished Business Kanopy: Most popular approach for Kanopy is the PDA This allows each library to deliver access to the films on a budget that they determine and cap There is $0 upfront, with no set up, platform or access fees Only license individual films that generate 4+ plays in 12 months, so no cost if viewed fewer than times Multiple plays over a short time by single user not count towards the trigger and plays must be at least 30 seconds to trigger All films cost $150/year with an upgrade option if needed Approximately 20+ films viewed for every film triggered All MOBIUS members could establish a PDA program on a budget that suits their specific preferences They can also curate their own content from over 90 different PDA subject categories Consortia Benefits from Christina’s conversation with Kanopy representative We have typically worked with consortia to facilitate access to our PDA program and some of the key benefits include: o Negotiating a single Customer Agreement covering all members o Facilitating trial access & developing a PDA program in line with their unique requirements o Collating usage data to support benchmarking, trend reporting & overall improvement in performance of their PDA program o Selectively licensing or acquiring individual films based on multiple triggers i.e you may look to license a film for the entire group if 4+ institutions trigger a license The Group is interested in having a demo of the service where they can ask more questions specifically about how this will benefit MOBIUS members Christina will reach out to the Kanopy representative to have this set up Ovid Wolters Kluwer o Ovid Nursing Basic and Extended: Ovid nursing journal packages developed with Community Colleges in mind They are all published by us (LWW) and no title is embargoed o Lippincott Advisor is a bit different, it is a teaching tool for nurses (students) at the point of care It is more synoptic in nature and it references our LWW journals but also Wolters Kluwer content found in UpToDate and Lexicomp This might be of benefit for both Nursing and PA students Page of Minutes of the MOBIUS E-Resources Committee Meeting January 8, 2018, 11:00pm – 12:00pm Online The group felt that both of these products would be of interest to the members and should be pursued as additions to the offerings Primal Pictures First to pioneer 3D anatomy over 25 years ago Using REAL HUMAN scan data from the Visible Human project;
