Quynh Chi, M.A CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION 1.1.Rationale So far, I've been studying at Duy Tan University for about four years, and I've gained a wealth of new knowledge in a variety of fields When communicating and approaching economies and cultures of different countries around the world, I believe translation is critical Especially now, when a series of sports events are widely organized around the world, attracting hundreds of millions of live and online views, sports movement has a significant impact on people's lives This book is organized into 12 chapters that detail the process of forming the world's largest football team, such as Barcelona, which is coached by Pep Guardiola The book covers the London game at Wembley to the second leg of the Champions League semi-final against Chelsea The book demonstrates how football has influenced young athletes from all over the world, regardless of their background Furthermore, it demonstrates the global football passion of people not only from Catalonia but from all over the world Furthermore, it demonstrates people all over the world's love for FC Barcelona, who are not only from Catalonia but also from all over the world I decided to choose the second of all twelve chapters of the book to translate because of the following reasons: + Firstly, this second chapter is perhaps the core point that encapsulates the entire content of the book which tells the whole journey to become one of the most talented players of Argentine football and of the world Messi is a boy living in a poor countryside carrying a disease that is retarded compared to his peers after extraordinary efforts in training and being sponsored by the president of Barcelona for treatment Messi was 1m69 tall compared to 1m4 at a young age Student:Do Thi Mong Lanh Code: 24203110809 Graduation Paper 58 Supervisor: Nguyen Quynh Chi, M.A Suggested Version: Hai trung gian người Argentina Buenos Aires nghe nói đứa trẻ tuyệt vời người mà object of a sentence rather than subject This means that the subject is either less important than the action itself or that we don’t know who or what the subject is The form of passive voice is : Subject + Subject + Verb Verb + Object + By Object (be + V_ed/ V3)  Passive voice with simple sentences EX: [ P7 ], [Page 16] “The goal is incorrectly ruled offside” The structure of this passive Version: Minguella mời Barcelona với tư cách thông dịch viên huấn luyện viên người Anh, Vic Buckingham năm 1970 4.2.5 Empty Subject English clauses which are not imperatives must have a subject Sometimes we need to use a ‘dummy’ or ‘empty’ or ‘artificial’ subject when there is no subject attached to the verb, and where the real subject is somewhere else in the clause It and there are the two empty subjects used in English: Subject + predicate  it + predicate + subject Subject+(auxiliaries)+be +predication =there+(auxilliares)+be+subject+predication EX 1: [P3], [Page 14] It was autumn 2003 at Barỗas Mini Estadi, the 17,000-capacity arena a few Se V Sr A hundred metres from the Camp Nou.” Suggested Version: Đó mùa thu năm 2003 ti sõn ng Mini Estadi ca Barỗa, cú sức chứa 17,000 home that Christmas in frustration at S V A (A) Barcelona’s ineptitude, the most likely scenario would have seen Messi, under (A) S V1 O Argentinian FA contractual rules, sign a professional contract ( most likely with A V2 O2 Newell’s) and the chance for Barỗa to make a simple deal would have S V disappeared” In this sentence, the inversion in the third conditional, we just need to invert "Had" at the beginning of the sentence and leave out "If", while the verb conjugated in the present perfect tense remains unchanged Third Conditional Structure: Had + S + PP, S + would/should/might have+PP Student:Do Thi Mong Lanh Code: 24203110809 Graduation Paper 65 Supervisor: Nguyen Quynh Chi, M.A Suggested Version: Nếu cậu cha trở nhà vào Giáng Sinh thất vọng ngó lơ Barcelona kịch xảy Messi quy tắc Paper 66 Supervisor: Nguyen Quynh Chi, M.A CHAPTER 5: DIFFICULTIES AND SOLUTIONS 5.1 Difficulties I am a student at Duy Tan University's English Faculty Perhaps, in addition to learning about practical experiences during my four years at the school, I was trained in my translation major through classroom lessons taught by friendly instructors and useful exercises Now I am able to comprehend theoretical translation knowledge and improve my knowledge in order to assist in the future However, everything is not straightforward During the completion of the graduation paper, I encountered numerous difficulties in terms of translation, vocabulary, structure, and so on, all of which may have an impact on the proposal's quality I must also make every effort to provide the reader with the most accurate and understandable version of the suggestion To begin with, I came across a lot of difficult words and phrases in the field of sports during my research Therefore, I have to learn and read many documents related to sports knowledge, watch football news and related articles to help the translation process better Secondly, there is a significant amount of difficult vocabulary To get the most accurate translation suggestions, you must find the correct meaning and best fit the context for words with multiple meanings and phrasal verbs Finally, there's a problem with sentence structure Because the structure of sentences is so varied, and some of them are completely new, I'm having a lot of trouble analyzing them As a result, I faced numerous challenges, but I overcame them by relying on my passion for sports and idols This graduation project is very important to me, and I hope to complete it to the best of my ability Student:Do Thi Mong Lanh Code: 24203110809 Graduation Paper 67 Supervisor: Nguyen Quynh Chi, M.A 5.2 Solutions During the course of writing my graduation thesis, I encountered numerous challenges in the translation process, but thanks to my own efforts as well as the assistance of friends and teachers, I was able to overcome them I was able to make a few of these using the following solutions: Firstly, I searched and consulted some of the previous classmates' graduation papers in the library, as well as the lecturer's instructions, in order to better understand the layout and how to conduct the graduation In addition, before translating, I thoroughly researched the text's entire content and context Then I used the internet to look for related information Before I began analyzing, I reviewed the basic and advanced grammar I had learned to ensure that I was capable of analyzing sentences in the text Secondly, I've compiled a list of difficult terms and phrases related to sports that you should look up in a dictionary I looked up the meaning of the sentence in several dictionaries, including Cambridge, Oxford, and Lac Viet Finally, I devised my own schedule in order to complete the thesis on time and smoothly Furthermore, the teachers provided me with enthusiastic guidance, assisting me in avoiding costly errors Student:Do Thi Mong Lanh Code: 24203110809 Graduation Paper 68 Supervisor: Nguyen Quynh Chi, M.A CHAPTER 6: CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTIONS 6.1 Conclusion Anyone interested in learning about the history of the Barcelona club and the legends associated with it should read the book “The Making of the Greatest Team in the World” I believe that after translating this book, I have learned new knowledge about life as well as specialized knowledge In addition, I realized that by spending four years at Duy Tan University, I could improve my writing, vocabulary, structure, and skills in order to become a good translator I realized I lacked vocabulary in both SL and TL during the translation process I don't understand the meaning of some words and phrases, making it difficult and confusing for me to choose the correct meaning and translation I realized that in order to get the most accurate translation of a text, I needed to have a basic understanding of the subject matter Furthemore , I also learned how to convey a different meaning while encountering difficult vocabulary and structures Finally, I believe that in order to improve, I must continue to learn every day I've always believed that putting forth the effort will result in positive outcomes Student:Do Thi Mong Lanh Code: 24203110809 Graduation Paper 69 Supervisor: Nguyen Quynh Chi, M.A 6.2 Suggestions I'd like to offer some suggestions after complete my studies I hope that my suggestions will help to improve the English Faculty's learning environment Firstly, I believe the English Faculty’s should organize some extracurricular activities, such as English clubs, to encourage students to communicate more and improve their speaking skills Secondly, it's possible that all students in the Faculty of English share the same weakness: a lack of vocabulary in various fields As a result, the school should provide opportunities for students to read more advanced books Thirdly, transferable subjects should be given more attention and study time at school so that students can better absorb the lectures Finally, I'd like to emphasize that time does not wait for anyone, so seize the opportunity and make your wishes come true Student:Do Thi Mong Lanh Code: 24203110809 Graduation Paper 70
