Am I a Leader? Am I a Leader? Lac Khai, Sam TEC 430 001 SP2021 - PROJECT LEADERSHIP Illinois State University AM I A LEADER? AM I A LEADER? Some people might enjoy being in a position of control, a position of influence where they could shape the direction of a particular project or initiative To some extent, this was the case; but I only recently realized that it was the desire to have an influence that I love most about being a leader In fact, the ability to make an impact is how I would define leadership I believe there are certain personality traits, skillsets and motivations that need to be present for effective leadership to take place My leadership strengths and areas for future study are going to be extrapolated explaining in the paragraphs that follow First of all, I believe a key element significantly helps someone be a good leader is trustful In my own experience, when I was in high school, as a cashier of the class, I was trusted to keep people’s money to pay for photocopy fee, to buy material and class, teaching tools such as chalk or boarding marker, etc At that time, I simply thought that this money is class’ money which I cannot use for my own purpose, so I just leave it in my bag to use when needed However, now I just realize how big that money is for a young student at that time; therefore, I am now inspired and motivated a lot when my class and my teacher trusted me unconditionally In a future similar situation, I would keep myself trustful as what I did to be a good person at first, even it might make me become a leader or not To me, being trusted by everyone would be more important than ever I believe that trust must be a strong base for a leader in any situation Being considerate, which is another feature, would importantly build a good leader in my opinion Being considerate is being polite and caring People like it when you're considerate of their feelings (Vocabulary.com, n.d.) In my perspective, there are many ways to be polite and caring such as apologize when made a mistake, thank people, sharing, etc For examples, everyone was taught to say thank and sorry when people started to talk; there is reason for that, it is being polite Sometimes, it is just so simple that we could not recognize When you treat people well, you will be treated well, too This understanding will be essential to me because it can be applied in any situation; however, I sometimes forget to it Since I have just clarified about this element, I will now need to practice to be considerate more at school, at my family, and so on This would be most importantly forming a person to be leader due to its benefits and reasons To summarize briefly, in my way of thinking, being trusted and being considerate are two meaningful features help build a good leadership Anyone could become a leader in any situation Therefore, I believe that keep practicing of what I am lacked and applying to personal and professional life regularly This would help me to be a good leader or a better leader AM I A LEADER?
