UNIT 9: Vv LESSON 3: Part 6, 7 I Objective:

1 Language focus:

- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to practise the sound of the letter

Vv and the coresponding words - Learn and practise reading skills

Sight words: violin 2 Skill:

- Listening, speaking, reading, writing

3 Attitude:

- Encourage Ss to use the structure more regulary

II Teaching aids:

- Book, CD, phonics cards, paper including the lyrics of the chant

III Method:

- Model – Talk - Practice, individual work, pair work, group work - Some techniques can be used: music chairs

IV.Procedures: 1 Organization:

- Check student attendence

2C Tuesday, February 27th 2018 2 Warm up (5’)

Activity: Act It Out

- T choose a student to come to the front of the classroom

- Show him/her a phonics card or whisper a word and ask the student to act it out - The remaining students try to guess the correct answer

- The first student to have the correct answer comes to the front of the class and the activity continues

3 New lesson

Activity 1: Colour the Vv letter(7’)

- Ask Ss to take out their colour pencils/ crayons - Point to the letters and elicit the letters and the sounds for each

- Ask the students to colour the pictures, use any colour they like

- Go around the class providing any necessary help

Activity: Which One Is Missing? Game (5’)

- Put the phonics cards face up on the table/stick them on the board

- Give the students 10 seconds to look at the cards - Have Ss close their eyes and take away one cards - Tell Ss to open eyes and name the missing cards

7 Listen, point and repeat Colour the pictures of the words that start with the v sound Say the v words (8’)

- Show the students the under phonics card Point to it and say: /v/ - violin Ask them to repeat

- Mime playing the violin and say: /v/ - violin Encourage the students to the same

- Play the CD The students listen, point to and repeat the word

- Point to the picture and have students name them - Allow the students some time to colour in the pictures of words start with the /v/ sound

- Go around the class providing any necessary help

Activity: Craftwork (10’)

- Ask the students to take out their notebooks

- Ask them to choose one word the draw the letter and the picture in their notebooks

- Tell them to colour the letter and the picture - The first three students who finish will show their pictures to the class

7 Listen, point and repeat Colour the pictures of the words that start with the v sound Say the t words. violin:đàn vi ô lông

- T ask Ss to find out and write as many Vv as they can in two minutes - Ss write the most they will be winner

- T monitors and corect their mistake

1 Activity 1: Trace and say (8’)

- Write on the board the big V and small v

- Point to the letter V and say “This is the letter V - Ask Ss repeat its sound chorally, individually - Ask Ss say the sound individually, correct the pronunciation if necessary

- Demonstrate how to write the big V by stroke - Draw an example of letter V using dashed lines - Call Ss practice tracing letter V on the board - Ask Ss trace letter V in the books

- Go around to give help if necessary

Activity 2: Trace and match (7’)

- Ask the students to close their books - Hold up the phonics cards one at a time - T let’s Ss trace and match

- Have the students the same procedure in their book and T goes around and give help as needed

Activity 3: Colour the V and the v What is it? (7’)

- T explain the activity

- T asks Ss to find and colourall the letter Vv - T asks Ss to use any colour they like

- T ask them to name the item in the picture

- Ask Ss colour other letters with a different colour

Activity 4: Help the violin go to the van Follow the V( 6’)

- T explains the activity

- T asks Ss to circle all the upper case Vs to help the violin go to the van

- T check Ss’ answers by holding up the book and ask the students for the right way

e.g Teacher: (point to a lower case v) Is this way right? Yes or No?

Class: No! etc

- T goes around class and provide any help

4 Help the violin go to the van Follow the V
