LESSON 3: Part 6, 7 I Objective:

1 Language focus:

- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to practise the sound of the letter Hh and the coresponding words

- Encourage Ss to use the structure more regulary II Teaching aids:

- Book, CD, phonics cards, paper including the lyrics of the chant III Method:

- Model – Talk - Practice, individual work, pair work, group work - Some techniques can be used: Craftwork, Thumbs Up or Down IV.Procedures:

- T asks Ss to open their notebooks In two minutes, the students write as many Hh's as they can The winner is the student who has written the most

3 New lesson (30')

- T show up the phonics cards, say the words - T ask Ss to put their thumbs up if the teacher says correctly and put their thumbs down if the

- T divide the class intogroups of two

- The first Ss point to the pictures and the other student say the word then change the roles - Set the time for students to colour the pictures of the words that start with h sound

Activity: Hunt The Cards Game(5') - T divide Ss into two teams and

- Hide the phonics cards around the classroom - Write the following for each team:

1: hat, hippo 2: hen, horse

- Ss in each team have to ‘hunt’ for the phonics cards of their team

- T play the song (Track 51) The first team to find all its words before the end of the song is the winner

- T write on the board the big H and small h - T point to the letter H and say out loud “This is the letter H /eɪtʃ/ and the letter H says /h/ Point to the letter H and say out loud “This is the letter H /eɪtʃ/ The letter H says /h/.”

- T ask Ss to repeat its sound chorally, then individually

- Draw an example of letter H using dashed lines

- T use a different colored chalk to model tracing the letter H

- T asks practice tracing letter H on the board

- T ask Ss to trace letter H in the books and say /eɪtʃ/ after each finished letter

Activity: Trace and match (7')

- Show the phonics cards of elephant, fox and garden, the students look and read the words

- T ask Ss to point out the first letter

corresponding with each word (e, f, g) - T ask Ss to trace the letter in their book - T asks Ss to match the big and small letter with the correct picture

Activity 3: Which are the right hats for the hens? Colour (7')

- T ask Ss to look at the pictures on the activity book (page 18), read the small letter in each question

- Choose the hat which has appropriate big letter with the small one

- Read the big sound after choosing the hat - T asks Ss to choose the crayon they like to colour the hats which they chose before

Activity 4: Circle the pictures of the words that start with the same sound (5 mins) - T call volunteer student Point to the first picture in question 1, ask the student to look at the picture and read aloud, find the first sound of the word

- T point to the next pictures in question 1, Ss read gradually each picture and the first sound of each

- Choose the picture of the words that start with the same sound with the first picture - T ask Ss the same procedure as the model in the other questions

Activity: (3')

- Draw an imaginary letter H in the air - Signal the students to look your mouth - Say “This is the letter… ” (Use mouth to mime the sound /eɪtʃ/ and Ss give the answer)
