- Say: “This is the letter K /keɪ/ The letter /keɪ/
1 Listen, point and repeat Colour.
(2)makes the /k/ sound.
- Repeat several times and check Ps’ pronunciation (letter K /keɪ/ and its sound)
- Use the phonics cards with kite, kitten and koala, say the words aloud and have Ps repeat
- Use gestures to help Ps to understand the meanings of the three words
- Stick the cards on board and have Ps repeat the words chorally several times
- Call some Ps to say the words aloud Check the vocabulary: Jump up
- Call Ps to the front of the class and assign each student word (K, kite, kitten, koala)
- Call out any word in the group of words
- The student who is assigned for that word has to jump up
- Continue with the other words and increase the speed
Pupil’s book open:
- Have Ps look at the book and listen to the expression: “The kitten has a kite Fly the kite, The koala has a kite Fly the kite”, point to the object when they hear
- Have Ps listen and repeat the words for several times
- Have Ps look at the pictures and define the colour of each object
- Choose the pictures have the same colour with the object they have defined
- Have individuals repeat the words of the pictures - Give feedback
Activity (5’):
- Use the phonics cards on the board and have Ps sing the chant with kite Do the same with kitten and koala
- The whole class sings the whole chant Do the chant again using gestures for each word

- Teacher reads the printed words then let the Ps look at the pictures and say the words

Saying the Sight Words:
- Point to and say the sight words look, at, the, has, a, fly.
- Have pupils repeat
- Have some pupils read them aloud Extension: Form a line (5 ’ )
- Put up the phonics cards on the board
- Write the respective words on separate pieces of paper
- Hand out the pieces of paper to the students and ask them to form a line at the front of the board in the same order as the phonics card o the board
- Repeat the procedure with another group of Ps Activity (11’):
- Put up the kite, kitten and koala phonics cards on the board
- Point to the koala and say: “the koala has a kitten” The students repeat
- Follow the same procedure and present the rest of the song
- Play the CD The students listen and sing along - Play the CD again The students sing and

- Whisper the word kitten to a student
- The student whispers the word to the student sitting next to him/her and so on - The last student says the word out loud
