UNIT 11: Kk Lesson

1 OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, Ps will be able to: - Recognize and pronounce the letter Kk and its sound correctly - Understand, recognize and say the three Kk words

- Write the letter Kk 1 Language focus:

- Vocabulary: kite, kitten, koala

2 Skill: Reading, listening, speaking, writing II TEACHING AIDS:

1 Teacher: Pupil’s book, CD, phonic cards, a box 2 Student: pupil’s book, page 50-51

III METHODS: P.P.P, games, chant IV PROCEDURE:

1 Organization (1’): - Greet Ps

- Check Ps’ attendance

- Have a student come to the front of the class

- Have another student read any word from the previous lesson (jam, jelly, juice, jacket).

- The student who is standing gestures corresponding with the words he/she hear from the friend

- The other Ps look and give feedback New lesson (26’):

Activity (12’):

- Write on board the letter Kk to introduce to the Ps the new lesson

- Say: “This is the letter K /keɪ/ The letter /keɪ/

1 Listen, point and repeat Colour.

- Repeat several times and check Ps’ pronunciation (letter K /keɪ/ and its sound)

- Use the phonics cards with kite, kitten and koala, say the words aloud and have Ps repeat

- Use gestures to help Ps to understand the meanings of the three words

- Stick the cards on board and have Ps repeat the words chorally several times

- Call some Ps to say the words aloud Check the vocabulary: Jump up

- Call Ps to the front of the class and assign each student word (K, kite, kitten, koala)

- Call out any word in the group of words

- The student who is assigned for that word has to jump up

- Continue with the other words and increase the speed

Pupil’s book open:

- Have Ps look at the book and listen to the expression: “The kitten has a kite Fly the kite, The koala has a kite Fly the kite”, point to the object when they hear

- Have Ps listen and repeat the words for several times

- Have Ps look at the pictures and define the colour of each object

- Choose the pictures have the same colour with the object they have defined

- Have individuals repeat the words of the pictures - Give feedback

Activity (5’):

- Use the phonics cards on the board and have Ps sing the chant with kite Do the same with kitten and koala

- The whole class sings the whole chant Do the chant again using gestures for each word

- Give feedback

kitten: mèo con koala: gấu túi

4 Consolidation (4’): Guess

Week 24 - Period 48

UNIT 11: Kk Lesson

I OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to: - Recognize and say the three Kk words correctly

- Do the corresponding actions - Read the story

- Sing letter Kk song 1 Language focus:

- Vocabulary: kite, kitten, koala

2 Skill: Reading, listening, speaking, writing

3 Attitude: Teach Ps to have positive attitude in study. II TEACHING AIDS:

1 Teacher: pupils' book, CD, phonic cards 2 Student: Pupil’s book – p.53

III METHODS: P.P.P IV PROCEDURE: 1 Organization (1’): - Greet Ps

- Check Ps’ attendance

- Show the phonics cards, ask students to corresponding actions then say the sound of the letter and words

- E.g Teacher: Show the ‘kite’ card→ Class: “kite", imitate flying the kite

- Have students sing the chant in lesson 1, keep the rhythm by clapping their hands and gesturing

3 New lesson (25’):

Activity (14’): Lead-in:

- Hold up the phonics cards, one at a time, partly hidden by a sheet of paper

- Slowly reveal the phonics card

- The students try to guess what the phonics card is Encourage the Ps to point to the picture of the word that the teacher says

- Play the CD Have the Ps listen to the story once - Play the CD again The Ps listen and point to the

pictures of the key words

- Read the story The Ps follow in their books

- Teacher reads the printed words then let the Ps look at the pictures and say the words

- Ask Ps work in pairs One reads while the other checks, then they swap roles

- Go around the classroom to help

Saying the Sight Words:

- Point to and say the sight words look, at, the, has, a, fly.

- Have pupils repeat

- Have some pupils read them aloud Extension: Form a line (5 ’ )

- Put up the phonics cards on the board

- Write the respective words on separate pieces of paper

- Hand out the pieces of paper to the students and ask them to form a line at the front of the board in the same order as the phonics card o the board

- Repeat the procedure with another group of Ps Activity (11’):

- Put up the kite, kitten and koala phonics cards on the board

- Point to the koala and say: “the koala has a kitten” The students repeat

- Follow the same procedure and present the rest of the song

- Play the CD The students listen and sing along - Play the CD again The students sing and

corresponding actions

Sight words:

look, at, the, has, a, fly

5 Song.

4 Consolidation (5’): whisper

- Whisper the word kitten to a student

- The student whispers the word to the student sitting next to him/her and so on - The last student says the word out loud

- Show the phonics card to check the student’s word - Continue with the other words
