I Objective:

1 Language focus:

- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to recognize and pronounce the letter Dd and its sound correctly

- Understand, recognize and say the three Dd words - Write the letter Dd

Vocabulary: dog, drum, dragon. Sight words: look

2 Skill:

- Listening, speaking, reading, writing 3 Attitude:

- Encourage Ss to use the structure more regulary II Teaching aids:

- Book, CD, phonics cards, computer, projector, soft ware III Method:

- Model – Talk - Practice, individual work, pair work, group work IV Procedures:

2 Warm up (5’)

Activity: Memory game

- T put the phonics cards (from Unit to 3) on the board - T ask Ss to memorize the order of these cards

- T ask Ss to close their eyes, remove one phonics card randomly and ask individual students to name it

- Continue changing the other cards 3 New lesson:

Teacher– Students’ activies Content Activitiy 1: Listen, point and repeat Colour (7’)

- T introduction of letter D, Its sound and how to pronounce the words beginning with Dd

- T use a card with letter Nn or write on the board the letter Dd to introduce to the students the new lesson

- Ask students how to pronouce the letter name and the letter sound by saying “ This is the letter Dd /di:/ The letter N makes the / d/ sound

- Ss listen and repeat

- T ask Ss to repeat several times and check student’s pronunciation(letter Dd /di:/ and its sound

- Ss work in group

1 Listen, point , repeat Colour.

- Ss work individually

- Ss look the cards and repeat

- T use gestures (hand actions ) to help students to understand the meanings of the three words

- Ss check the meaning and repeat

- T check student’s understanding T says the words,all ss actions and vice versa

- T call some Ss to say the words out loud and correct their mistakes

- Ss remember the cards

Activity: Where’s the Letter(4’)

- T ask Ss to work in pair

- T hand out photocopies of pages from some story books

- T ask Ss to find and circle the letter Dd on these pages in minutes

- The pair that has circled the most Dds will be winners

Activity Listen and point Colour (10’)

- T ask Ss to look at the books and listen to the drill: It is a

- T point to the picture of dog and say: It is a dog And ask Ss to repeat

- Follow the same procedure and present the rest of pictures

- T play the CD While the CD is playing, ask Ss to point to the corresponding picture and repeat

- T ask Ss repeat by using the phonics cards of dog, drum, dragon combining with gestures

- T ask Ss to colour the drum using any colour they like

Activity Chant and show(5’)

- T put up the lyrics of the chant on the board - Without music, use the phonics cards and step students to sing the chant with dog. Do the same with drum and dragon

Activity: Writing in the air(3’)

- T show the letter Dd again, have students write the Dd in air with their fingers
