UNIT 2: Bb Lesson

1 OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, students can be able to: - Recognize and pronounce the letter Bb and its sound correctly - Understand, recognize and say the three Bb words

- Write the letter Bb

* Handicapped Ss: will be able to recognize the letter Bb, listen and repeat vocab and colour with teacher’s help

1 Language focus:

- Vocabulary: ball, bed, bee Sight words: look, a 2 Skill: Reading, listening, speaking, writing

3 Attitude: Teach Ps to love the things around. II TEACHING AIDS:

1 Teacher: students’ book, CD, phonic cards, a ball 2 Student: pupil’s book

1 Organization (1’) - Greeting

- Check Ps’ attendance

- Get Ps to play the slap the board game to review the letter Aa and the words ant, apple, alligator, and acrobat.

3 New lesson (24’)

Teacher and Students’ activities Content

Activity (7 mins): Introduction of letter B, its sound and how to pronounce the words beginning with Bb.

- Use a card with letter Bb to introduce to the students the new lesson

- Say: “This is the letter B /bi:/ The letter B says / b/.”

1 Listen, point and repeat Colour.

- Repeat several times and check students’ pronunciation (letter B and its sound)

- Use the phonics cards with ball, bed, and bee say the words aloud and have Ps repeat

- Use gestures to help students to understand the meanings of the three words

- Stick the cards on board and have students repeat the words chorally several times

- Call some students to say the words aloud - Have students color the letter Bb in their book

* Handicapped Ss: recognize the letter Bb, read with teacher’s help

Follow up: Memory Game (3 mins)

-Put the phonics cards of ball, bed, bee, Bb on the board

-Ask students to memorize the order of these cards -Ask Ss to close their eyes, remove one phonics card

randomly and ask individual students to name it -Continue changing the other cards

Activity (5 mins): Read the commands with preceding “Look & a”

-Have students look at their books and listen to the words: Look! A ball!Look! A bed!Look! A bee!

-Ask students repeat with gestures

-Say: a ball Ask students to point to the corresponding items in the picture Repeat with the rest of the items in random order

-Ask students to look at the missing puzzle pieces and draw lines to match them to the pictures

* Handicapped Ss: listen and point with teacher’s help

Follow up: Pass the phonics card Game (4 mins)

-Using the phonics cards of Bb, ball, bed, bee -Line up the students into teams

-Get Ss to play the Pass the phonics card Game Activity (5 mins): Chant and show

-Use the phonics cards and step students to sing the chant with ball Do the same with bed and bee

-With music, the whole class sings the whole chant Do the chant again using gestures for each word -Give feedback

* Handicapped Ss: read with teacher’s help.

4 Consolidation (5 mins)

- Show the letter Bb again, have students write the Bb in air with their fingers - Ask students write down: Bb, ball, bed, bee into their notebook

5 Homework: Ask pupils to practice the letter Bb and the chant at home. VI Evaluation:

WEEK – Period UNIT 2: Bb

Lesson 2

1 OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, students can be able to: - Recognize and say the three Bb words correctly

- Do the corresponding actions - Read the story

- Sing letter Bb song

* Handicapped Ss: will be able to recognize the letter Bb, listen and repeat vocab with teacher’s help

1. Language focus:

- Vocabulary: ball, bed, bee Sight words: look, at, the, with, on 2 Skill: Reading, listening, speaking, writing

3 Attitude: Teach Ps to love the things around. II TEACHING AIDS:

1 Teacher: students’ book, CD, phonic cards, real object 2 Student: pupil’s book

Activity (14 mins):

- Get Ss to open their book on page

- Encourage the students to point to the picture of the word that the teacher says

- Play the CD Have the students listen to the story once

- Play the CD again The students listen and point to the pictures of the key words when they hear them in the story

- Read the story The students follow their books - Teacher reads the printed words then let the

students look at the pictures and say the words - Ask students work in pairs One reads while the

other checks, then they change roles Go around the classroom to provide any help

- Point to and say the sight words - Have students repeat

- Have some students read them aloud

* Handicapped Ss: read with teacher’s help. *

Follow up : Jump Up Game (5 mins) - Ask students to stand at their desks

- Hold up a phonics card from Aa or Bb (and say a word

- If the word is the same as the phonics card, students jump If it isn’t, they stay standing

Activity 2: Singing ( 6’)

- Tell students to turn to page 72

- Put the ball, bed and bee phonics cards up on the board

- Point to the bee and the bed and say: “The bee on the bed goes buzz, buzz, buzz” The students repeat - Do the same to present the rest of the song

- Play the CD The students listen and sing along - Play the CD again The pupils sing and

corresponding actions

4 Consolidation (5 mins)

- Play some lively music (use the unit song)

- The students pass the phonics cards to students next to them around the class while the music is playing

- Stop the music suddenly Ask the students who are holding phonics card to say the words

5 Homework: Ask pupils to practice reading the story and sing the song at home VI Evaluation:
