Lesson 2: speak (p.64- 65) I.aim:

- Help ss practice asking and answering questions about sending mail

- By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to talk how to send parcels or letters - Develop speaking and writing skills

1.Language contents:

*Grammar:- Present perfect with for or since

- comparision with like (no) as…as (not) the same as, different from *Vocabulary: airmail, surface mail, parcel, charge

2.Skills: Speaking, writing

3.Attitude and moral sense : It helps ss to have motivation , happiness to communicate with each other in English Besides, the lesson can helps ss work harder

II.Teaching aids:

Textbook, lesson plan, poster, chalk

1.Teacher’s preparation: English book, textbook, lesson plan, posters.

2.Ss’preparation: Textbook, notebook, and reference book,review the old lesson, preview vocabularies

III.Techniques:

Pair work, group work, individual IV.Procedures:

- Set the scene “ Mrs Kim wants to send a parcel to Qui Nhon , so she has to go to the post office ”

- Give Ss some questions and ask Ss to work in pairs to compare their answers

- Ask Ss to read the dialogue and find out the answers a What does Mrs.Kim want to do?

b How much is an airmail?

c Which is cheaper, airmail or surface mail? d Does Mrs.Kim send the parcel airmail? Why? - Call on Ss to ask and answer the questions

*While speaking:

- Call on a student to play role of Mrs Kim and practice the dialogue with teacher ( clerk )

- Call on some pairs to practice the dialogue Correct their pronunciation

- Set the scene and ask Ss to make the dialogue + Mrs Lan wants to post a letter air mail

- Ask Ss to make the dialogue between Lan and the clerk in the post office

Expected dialogue Clerk : Can I help you ?

Mrs Lan : I want to send a letter to Kontom

Clerk : Do you want to send it airmail or surface mail ? Mrs Lan : I send it airmail How much is it?

Clerk :Let me see Mmm, 15 grams , it is only 1,200 dongs Mrs Lan : Here you are

Clerk : Thank you

- Elicit and encourage Ss to make the dialogue themselves - Get Ss to practice the dialogue in pairs

- Give Ss some situations :

- Have ss compare airmail to surface mail, using the information in the table in (p.65)

Eg: Surface mail is not as expensive as airmail

The price of airmail is different from (not the same as) the price of surface mail

- By the end of the lesson , Ss will be able to know what Na is going to on the weekend by listening

- Develop listening and writing skills 1.Language contents:

- comparision with like (no) as…as (not) the same as, different from *Vocabulary: exhibition, photo exhibition, fan, kick off
