Unit 5- STUDY HABITS Lesson 3: Listen (p.48)

Language focus (P.52) I.Aims:

- Help Ss understand and remember the words and phrases given in the lesson; listen for specific information of Nga’s study; practice adverbs of manner

- By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to listen for specific information to fill in a report card and practice adverbs of manner

1.Language contents:

*Grammar: adverbs of manner,present simple tense

*Vocab: behavior- participation,days present ,days absent ,cooperation,comment , Signature,satisfactory

2.Skills: - Develop skills: L, S, R & W.

3.Attitude and moral sense : It helps ss to have motivation , happiness to communicate with each other in English Besides, the lesson can helps ss work harder

II.Teaching aids:

Lesson plan, textbook, handouts, posters, pictures, colorchalks 1 Teacher’s preparation: lesson plan, CD, cassette.

2 Ss’ preparation: books, notebooks, workbooks,review the old lesson, preview vocabularies III.Techniques:

Chatting, what and where, prediction, questions and answers IV.Procedures:

T asks SS to go to the board and write the new words, newstructures and exercises T corrects the mistakes

*Steps

Step1.Warm up: Chatting

- T asks some questions and asks Ss to answer them + How often you have English?

+ When you have English? + Are you good at English?

+ How much time you spend on English? + What you to improve English?

*Pre- listening: Vocabulary: -T elicits some new words :

+ behavior- participation(n): tinh thần tham gia + days present (n): số ngày có mặt (example) + days absent (n): số ngày vắng mặt (antonym) + cooperation (n): hợp tác (translation) + comment (n): lời nhận xét (explanation) + signature (n): chữ ký (explanation) + satisfactory><unsatisfactory: thỏa mái (antonym) - Check: What and where

Prediction:

- Set the scene: Today we’ll listen some information to complete the report card, now you have to predict the information.

- Ask ss to look at Sarah’s report card and predict the missing information and compare with their partner

- Get feedback *While listening: Listen and check:

- Asks to listen to the tape and check their predictions - Give feedback
