Tiếng Anh là một môn học quan trọng đang ngày càng chứng minh vị thế của mình, không chỉ trong thi cử mà còn giúp ích rất nhiều cho học sinh trong việc tìm kiếm học bổng hay cơ hội việc làm tốt cho các em học sinh trong tương lai. Từ năm học 20142015 với những đổi mới tích cực trong thi cử, môn tiếng Anh cũng chứng kiến nhiều thay đổi. Tuy nhiên, nếu nhìn vào format đề thi, chúng ta nhận thấy tầm quan trọng của Phrasal verbs cũng không ít đi chút nào, thậm chí ngày càng được quan tâm hơn khi mức độ sử dụng chúng, đặc biệt trong văn hóa giao tiếp là vô cùng lớn.

Hai chị em giống có chồng họ phân biệt họ I could hardly tell the two sisters apart (NOT …tell apart the two sisters.) Tôi phân biệt hai chị em ♦ Một vài phrasal verbs thường gặp thuộc loại này: bring (sb) to – dẫn đến tình trạng nào, drag (sb) down – giáng chức, hạ thấp vị trí, have (sb) over – có ghé thăm… 2.2 Non-separable: tân ngữ phải sau ‘particle(s)’ Loại bao gồm tất loại prepositional verbs (động từ + giới từ) loại phrasal prepositional verbs (động từ + trạng từ + giới từ): I ran into our old friend, Lan Tran, the other day at the supermarket Hơm đó, tơi gặp lại Trần Lan, bạn cũ tụi mình, siêu thị She was looking for the passport which she had lost Chị tìm kiếm hộ chiếu mà chị Với loại phrasal verbs này, trạng từ thường động từ giới từ: She was looking everywhere for the missing passport (NOT …looking for everywhere) Cơ ta tìm khắp nơi cho hộ chiếu It made me feel good to see so many of her friends stand up for her when she was blamed for the loss Tôi cảm thấy thật tốt đẹp thấy nhiều bạn chị bênh vực chị chị bị đổ lỗi cho mát ♦ Với loại prepositional phrasal verbs này, người ta không đặt tân ngữ sau động từ đứng trước ‘particles’: I can’t put up with this treatment any longer (NOT …put up this treatment/it with ) (NOT… put this treatment/it up with) Tôi chịu đựng cách đối xử ♦ Chúng ta thường thấy trạng từ thường đứng hai ‘particles’: He stands up strongly for her (NOT …stands up for strongly her.) (NOT …stands strongly up for her) Ông ta mạnh mẽ ủng hộ cô Cũng giống động từ đơn khác, có nhiều phrasal verbs transitive intransitive Ngữ cảnh cho biết chức với nghĩa chúng: Intransitive The plane took off at seven o’clock Transitive He took off his hat and bowed politely as Máy bay cất cánh lúc bẩy the teacher passed Nó cất mũ cúi chào lễ phép thầy I am taking this Friday off to get ngang In computing the income tax, one is something done around the house allowed to take off three-thousand dollars Tôi nghỉ thứ sáu để làm việc nhà for each dependent Khi tính thuế lợi tức, người ta khấu trừ ba ngàn đồng cho người phải cấp dưỡng PHẦN II MỘT SỐ BÍ QUYẾT HỌC PHRASAL VERBS HIỆU QUẢ Learning phrasal verbs by topic- Học theo chủ đề Khi học cụm động từ get up get dressed nên học chúng với động từ khác có ý nghĩa liên quan - to work, get home, have a shower Điều giúp ghi nhớ dễ dàng Vì ta gặp chủ đề lớp nên tìm hiểu số cụm động từ liên quan khác Ví dụ Morning activities: Các hoạt động buổi sáng Phrase go off Meaning phát tiếng kêu, báo thức Example It makes a sudden loud noise when the alarm goes off I am having an important meeting tomorrow Will wake up thức giấc, đánh thức you turn off tắt We turned off the light before anyone could see us get up thức dậy What time you often get up in the morning? put on mặc vào (quần áo) I put on a sweater and a jacket get on lên xe (xe buýt, tàu hỏa) get off xuống xe go into bắt đầu làm việc wake me up at am?
