I'm going to talk about an advertisement for Coca-Cola, which is one of the biggest brands in the world I've seen Coke advertised everywhere, on posters and TV commercials

The advert shows a picture of Santa Claus smiling and holding a bottle of Coke I think the aim 1s to target children and associate (link/connect) the brand with Christmas time

The advert is interesting because the company is deliberately trying to influence and attract children The marketers are trying to capture young customers They are presenting the drink as something special, a gift for Christmas However, Coca-Cola 1s not necessarily a healthy drink for children; 1t contains a lot of sugar Maybe this kind of advertise

Describe a tall building you like or dislike You should say

O Where it is

What is the appearance of it Explain why you like or dislike it

I'm going to describe a modern building in Binh Duong It's called the Becamex Tower, and it's the second tallest building in the city, with about 50 floors

In fact, the bottom half of the tower is used for malls and entertainment and the top half 1s office for lease The offices are expensive because the location and views make them very desirable

I'm not sure if I like the design of the building, it's just a huge glass tower, but it definitely stands out It has become a famous landmark in the city You can see it as you approach Binh Duong, and it's an easy place to meet people because it's so distinctive and easy to find The most interesting thing about the Becamex Tower is that there is a bar on the 4" floor which has spectacular views of the city; it's definitely the best vantage point in Binh Duong because there are no walls, only huge

windows, so you can look out over the city in any direction I'd recommend anyone who visits Binh Duong to go there and experience the view

3 Describe a positive change that you made to your life You should say:

e I’m going to describe the first time I visited England’s capital city, London, on a school trip when I was a teenager I had never been to London before, and it was great to share that experience with my school friends

e he positive experience wasn’t confined to one particular place in London As far as I remember, I enjoyed the whole trip, from the coach journey to the visits to various tourist attractions We got off the coach near the Houses of Parliament, and so one of my first memories was seeing the famous Big Ben clock tower We also visited the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace and Trafalgar Square

e As I said earlier, it was a school trip, and I think there were around thirty of us, including two teachers I was with a group of close friends, which made the experience more enjoyable

e What really struck me about London was that it was historic but modern and thriving at the same time It seemed to me to be a lively, fashionable and cosmopolitan place Coming from a relatively small town, the experience made me keen to visit more capital cities in the future

I’m going to tell you about a photograph of me and my sister It’s quite unusual in that I’m not very photogenic and it’s one of the few photos of me where I like the way I look

I can’t remember the exact date the photo was taken but it was quite some time ago now It was when we were on a big family holiday in the central park — perhaps 2 years ago We don’t often now go on holidays as a family together and that was almost the last time the whole family was there

I guess that Minh — my brother-in-law was the one behind the camera I say that because he’s brilliant at photography and any good photos we have are normally ones that he’s taken He’s got a great eye for it and of course he has all the right gear — special lenses and so on

It’s quite a simple photo It’s just my sister and myself in a boat on a lake — you can see the lake and shore in the background But the idea is that it’s just the two of us together — looking happy Part of the reason it looks great I suppose is that it’s in black and white and that gives it a timeless quality The other thing is that he caught us unawares and neither of us was looking directly at the camera — so it’s not exactly a portrait I remember because it brings back great memories of a memorable holiday and as I said before I look good in it!

5 Describe a special meal you have had You should say:

And explain how you would feel about the meal

Recently I ate buffet at Becamex Restaurant with my friends I had this meal about two weeks ago and we ate buffet in the evening time That was actually a get together short of party with my school friends whom I have not met for a long in person Over the phone we talked and planned to have a meal cum get together party together to discuss about us and to meet those friends in person We

picked the Becamex Restaurant because it is in a suitable location for all of us and we knew the food quality of this restaurant was good

We met at around 5 pm and we spent some good time together Lots of things have changes and some of our friends have done many challenging things and we all enjoyed the stories and updated we gave each other

From the very beginning we planned to have met in a restaurant and not at home Usually arranging get together type party at a restaurant is easier and more convenient than arranging it at home No one feels shy or uneasy being at other's home and the host does not have to go through a big preparation The friends who came at this gathering also liked the environment and foods of Becamex Restaurant and that was the main reason we planned to have it

Describe a team project for study or entertainment You should say:

I'd like to talk about a team project that I was involved in during my final term at business school There were four of us on the team, and our task was to work with a local company to research a new market, in a European country, for one of their products or services Our objective was to produce a report and give a presentation

The first thing we did was split into two groups of two We had been assigned a company that produced a range of bicycle accessories, so two of us spent some time getting to know the company while the other two researched the market and the competitors in the target country, which was Germany In the end, I think it was a successful project because we managed to identify a possible gap in the market in Germany for one of the company’s products Our group presentation also went really well

Until that point, the course had been all about business theory, so it was quite a learning experience to work with a real company I felt a real sense of accomplishment when we handed in our report and delivered our presentation, and I think all of us were proud of what we had done

e Facebook allows you to keep up to date with what friends are doing You have a profile page with information and status updates so that you can tell everyone what you're doing You can post messages together people's pages You can upload photos and videos I find Facebook most useful for organizing my life, keeping in touch with friends and storing photos I think social networking websites have become part of everyday life

8 Describe an artist or entertainer you admire You should say

e I’m going to talk about a musician that I admire, called He’s a singer who also plays the guitar and writes his own songs I think he recorded his first album about 10 years ago, and he’s released

several other CDs since then

He became successful after many years of writing songs and performing live in small venues all over the country Gradually he built a following of people who liked his music I think the key to his success was one of his songs that was used on a TV advertisement This meant that

more people became aware of his music

I found out about because one of my friends got tickets to see him 1n concert I hadn’t heard any of his music before, but I went along to the gig and really enjoyed it After that I bought the first CD, and now I’ve got all of them

The reason I admire is that he has worked hard for his success: it takes years of practice to become a good singer and guitarist, and he spent several years playing to very small

audiences before he became successful I also like the fact that he writes his own music I admire people who have worked hard to get where they are

Describe your favorite movie You should say:

O Name of your favorite movie? Why do you like it so much? What message did the movie give?

I watch a lot of movies and this is the thing which I do in my leisure time I love to watch movies and there some movies which I watch again and again My favorite movie is The Terminal I have watched this movie a million times and I am not exaggerating it Tom Hanks plays a character of a person who comes to America to fulfill his father last wish and due to some reason he is unable to do what he has to do

In the movie Tom hanks lands at the airport at the airport and at the same time there is a mutiny in his country and America stops recognizing his country The movie shows how a person survives all these months and fulfills the wish of his dead father There is scene in the movie when the authorities ask him to say that he 1s afraid of his country, but he refuses to do it

The movie shows that no matter what happens a person should never compromise on his or her love for the country The move also gives a message that no matter how long the wait is, people with strong determination always achieve their goals

10 Describe a gift you recently gave to someone You should say

e Well I have given presents to many people for all kinds of reasons but I guess I'll talk about my best friend's last birthday present

e Last month was my best friend, Tina’s birthday and a few weeks before that she accidentally lost her iPhone 4S on the bus As a result she was quite upset - her parents were really angry as well and told her they wouldn’t buy her a new one Luckily for her I won the school singing

competition and the prize was a brand new black iPhone 5 I already had one so I gave it to her at her birthday party

e [still remember her face light up when she saw the iPhone box She actually thought I was playing a joke on her and that I just gave her an empty box However when she saw the phone inside she seriously cried and hugged me so hard I wasn't able to breathe This was probably the priciest gift I have given to anyone in my life but I believe it was worth it After all, you can't buy friendship

11 Talk about your favorite outdoor activity You should say:

o What activity is that? o Where do you do it? o How often do you do it?

And describe why you do like this activity

e My favorite outdoor activity is visiting parks, fields, playgrounds and open spaces with my close friends I do it in one of the nearby parks, large play grounds, botanical gardens, besides a lake or river and 1n any similar natural open spaces

e [often take my bicycle and use it as my transportation to reach those places I cannot do it daily but I gather with my friends usually once or twice in a week We go to the park or near a river, enjoy

I really like to spend time with my friends as they are very close to me and they are very good friends of mine I like their companionship as we have lots of common interests We learn things from each other and value our friendship Moreover, we stay inside rooms be it house, university, office or other places, and this activity lets us spend time close to nature and in healthy and open environment The open spaces give fresh air, eradicates our boredom and fatigue, and it is really refreshing to do some short of outdoor activities in the evening For all these reasons, I like this outdoor activity more than any other outdoor activity I have

12 Describe a wild animal from your country You should say

I’m going to describe the “Sparrow” which is a wild bird that is common in the Vietnam The Sparrow is a small bird with brown and white feathers and an area of bright brown color on its face and on the front of its body The area of brown color and its size make Sparrow very easy to distinguish from other birds

Sparrow are common garden birds Many houses in the Vietnam have a garden, and you can often see this bird sitting in a tree They make their nests in trees and go looking for food You might also see a robin if you go for a walk in the countryside or in a park

Robins have a special place in Vietnamese culture They are considered to be spring birds, and are often used on spring festival’s cards Many people leave food in their gardens for Sparrow and other

small birds to eat

13 Describe someone who has had an important influence in your life You should say:

In my life there are several persons in my family members who made unmatched contributions to help me go ahead and among them my father’s contribution 1s unforgettable He is the person whom I love most in this world and I consider him to be a perfect human being with his uncompromised honestly, bravery and responsibility

He taught me about the world, people and values He helped me on my education and has devoted his life to properly raise me

My father is an exemplary person who has led an honest life He is now a retired person and leads his serene and peaceful like with contentment and happiness He was a brave person who never feared the rough power of the society

As a father, I would say he has done everything humanly possible to raise me and my 3 others siblings He spent his earning on our happiness and necessity while he went through hardship I learned the true meaning of life and started achieving some of the qualities he has The person who I am now is mostly because of my parents’ devotion and dedication To me he is an ideal person whom I often mimic and consider as my idle in my life

14, Describe a garden you remember visiting You should say:

This isn’t an easy question for me because I’m not really that into gardens and I’m not sure how to describe all the plants and flowers

The garden I'll tell you about is the central park at Thu Dau Mot new city I used to go there from time to time when I was a student It’s not quite in the city Centre but is a fairly short walk

away and easy enough to get to on foot from the High Street It’s quite close to the river and one of the more famous bridges

It’s a fairly large place and has different sections to it As I remember there are paths that lead to these different sections Then I also remember that there was special aromatic garden there where there were plants that had particular scents I think it was originally made for blind people who couldn’t enjoy the colors of the plants

It’s quite an active place and because it’s free lots of people just walk in and wander around You do get garden specialists who go there to look at certain plants, but there are just as many people who just go there to sit on one of the benches and eat their sandwiches or have a coffee during their

lunch break

15 Describe an exciting news that you heard (either through the phone or e-mail) You should say:

The exciting news that I heard over phone was the birth news of my nephew My mother called me on my cell phone when I was away from my home-town and that’s one of the most exciting news I have ever got in my life

I was in the second year in my university and because of that I was away from home One day my mother called and gave me this happy news I had exam ahead of me and after getting the news I was so happy and thrilled that I forgot everything and came to my hometown at that very night to see the newborn baby I heard that my sister was pregnant and would have a baby soon

Having a baby at our home was a much desired dream of ours and I often fantasized to have a beautiful baby at our home So we were counting days for the baby to come to this world and for enlighten our house At the last moment of my sister’s pregnancy, she became very ill and some complexities appeared as the doctors reported When I got the call from my mom that my sister has become the mother of a beautiful baby and both are fine, I was in one hand very animated and on the other hand relieved from the tension that I was going through for the last few days

16 Describe a place that can be good to relax (not home) You should say:

e I’m going to talk about my ideal place to relax and also a famous tourist attraction in Vietnam, Sapa Among various reasons, I love Sapa simply ‘cause of people there They are warm, kind hearted and trustworthy I remember that summer when my family decided to have a holiday in Sapa, we came into trouble “because it was a tourist season and we ran out of hotels

e Fortunately, we were put in by a local person for a night and she found a hotel nearby for us the following morning Besides people 1 found in Sapa many interesting places to play and learn about the ethnic minorities in Vietnam that I just had a chance to see in textbooks and on TV Therefore, I see Sapa as a beautiful and peaceful place for me to refresh myself and recharge my battery after an assiduous semester

e Anyway, 1 will come back to Sapa next summer for sure

17 Describe a piece of modern technology you own You should say:

e [have several pieces of modern technology and electronic gadgets that I often use and among them I would like to talk about the laptop I have This is a laptop computer which 1s manufactured by HP This laptop has a good configuration and it supports most of the latest software It came with the Windows 8 operating system and it was bit expensive for me to buy I bought it few months back when I replaced my old Dell laptop with this new one

e [use it for my official purposes as well as personal purposes I use internet, communicate with my friends using this laptop I sometimes prepare some documents, surf internet and play games in it as well This laptop serves my entertainment also I watch movies, listen to music and play games in it In fact, I use this laptop more frequently than any other electronic device I have except the cell phone

e I own laptop for more than 10 years but I bought this current one 3-4 months ago Since, the technology changes and to use latest software and to get faster performance, we need to upgrade our computers and laptops, I replaced my old laptop with this new one

e As Ihave already mentioned, I use this laptop to use internet, play games, create documents, contact my friends, maintain my blogs, watch movie, and listen to music and for many other important purposes This laptop has become an unavoidable technology for me that I use almost every day

18 Describe a person you admire You should say:

e I'm going to talk about my father because he has been a major influence in my life

e My father was always a good role model for me as I was growing up He's hard-working, patient and understanding; he's also got a good sense of humor and seems to get on well with everybody Hopefully I've inherited some of these traits

I remember last summer when my family decided to have a holiday in Sapa, we came into trouble because it was a tourist season and we ran out of train ticket Consequently, we had to catch the taxi the following morning

On the way, I saw beautiful terraced rice fields that I just had a chance to see in textbooks and on TV These cover the whole sides of mountains and during ripening of rice, everything are turning to yellow I feel as lucky as enjoying an amazing picture of nature and I really proud of my country35.Describe a person (you know) who travels a lot by plane

20 Describe what you want to do in the future You should say:

Everybody has a plan for future Though future is uncertain and many times unpredictable, I believe that to some extend our future depends on our actions on past and present In the future I want to run a Mega-shopping mall business where my involvement would not be mandatory to run the daily business and I would enjoy my time by visiting different places of the world

After I finished my graduation, I started working for a small company Now I am working for a large multinational company I have planned to work till I become 36 and then I will take early retirement The money I will inherit and the amount I am currently saving per month should allow

me to start a business I have planned to start a big shopping mall I will have my close relatives as the employees and authorities of the business and initially I will work in this shopping mall for 2-3 years to make it run smoothly When the business would go on with its own path, I will enjoy my

vacation and would visit different renowned and beautiful cities of the world I will visit Asia,

Europe, Russia and many more places

Hopefully I will enjoy the retirement and the trips Though I am not sure about the future but I have already planned for it Because I believe proper planning and initiation is the half of the total task and fulfilling dream I have already taken some steps towards achieving my future plan

21 Describe a national festival in your country You should say:

o When it takes place o Why it takes place

o What the people do during this festival And explain why this festival is important to you

I'd like to talk about a traditional festival in China It's called the Mid-Autumn Festival which has a long history and is known as one of the most time-honored traditions It's also called the Moon Festival, because on that day, the full moon looks pretty gorgeous and shiny This festival is held on the 15th day of the eighth month 1n the lunar calendar

Folks will gather to have a party, watch the moon, and do kinds of festivities One thing 1s associated with the moon festival is the mooncakes Its round, looks exactly like the full moon Folks love to eat it All sorts of pastries and fillings imaginable are available Red beans, flowers, eggs, you name it As I know, Starbucks and Haagen-Dazs sell mooncakes as well These mooncakes are made from ice-cream or coffee which are very funky, also very pricy Well, personally, I don't want to eat a whole mooncake now because of its high calories But I will take a bite at least, coz it's really tasty

The Moon Festival is significant in my country, I say that because it's a day for family getting together, sons and daughters come back to their parents' house Sometimes, people who have settled overseas will return to visit their parents and have the best wishes for each other For farmers, it's their harvest day to celebrate

22 Describe a leader you admire You should say:

o What skills he or she has for leadership;

And explain why you think he or she is a good leader

“T’m going to talk about a leader that I really look up to, who probably inspire me the most in my whole life His name is Binh, a very famous leader of the VOVINAM martial arts in my Uni back to Vietnam

To start off the speech, I would like to approach the context of how I got to know him Everything happened when I was a new sophomore As a first year student, everyone should choose at least a club to sign up for So initially, I did not have any intention of joining VOVINAM club cuz I don’t have any taste in it if | don’t want I don’t wanna say I hate 1t However, my mom, she always insisted me on taking part in that club with view to losing my weight So I had to obey her But later it turned out that my determination wasn’t bad And then on the meeting members date, I got to know him via the club manger’s introduction

Moving on to the next point of skills he possessed for the leadership, I would like to highlight his brilliant speaking and listening skills As a politician, more specifically, as a diplomatic spokesman of Vietnam, he had a sound speaking skill Presenting his perspective coherently and nicely as one of the essences of his job, Binh successfully gained everyone’s belief in him and the club Furthermore, it is of note that listening skill substantially helped him to be a leader in terms of feedback and other people’s stories Even though he is really busy at work, spending five minutes listening to you doesn’t matter him

Finally, if I still have time, I would like to talk about the reason why I assume that he is a good leader I always tell with my parents that he is an elastic line and other club members are the points Spot connecting is exactly what he trying to do to connect everyone as a team to remain the club’s sustainability Upon all the devotions he got for the club, I just have three words for him: influential, accomplished and dedicated

What do I do in spare time? Well there’s lots of different things I could tell you about — I’m a pretty active person and I like to keep myself busy so even when I’m not working I’m always doing something

I suppose my favorite activity is simply riding my bicycle I moved to Cambridge about a year now and it’s a city famous for being bike friendly — perhaps because it’s so flat So I decided to buy myself a bike At first 1t was just to go to work but I enjoyed it so much that I also started cycling for fun

At first I would just ride around the city by myself — going through some of the parks and down by the riverside Then I discovered that there was a really active Cycling Club It’s really just a group of people who like to get out and about on the weekend So I joined up and started going out with them most Saturdays We don’t tend to go very far — normally only around 20-25 miles and we don’t race The idea is just to enjoy the day and we normally end up in one of the local villages and share a meal or picnic before heading back into the city

I enjoy cycling because it’s of course good exercise and I like to keep fit But it’s a bit more than that It allows me to get out of the city and see some of the countryside

I like to visit my hometown more than visiting any other place After I finished my school, I came to the capital of your country and did my graduation here Later on, I have started my job and since then have been staying here Whenever I get vacations, I plan to visit my hometown

To go there, I need to purchase advance bus ticket 2-3 days prior to the departure I mostly go there by bus Alternatively, I can go to my hometown on train The bus journey takes around 4-5 hours and the train journey takes 1-2 hours more than the bus journey After reaching at our hometown station, I usually pick a shared taxi that drops me near my home

My home town is a small urban area with full of beauty and wonder Green trees, fresh air and serene environment make it an ideal place to live in My hometown is just beside a river and has less density of population than the capital city The houses and shopping Centres are not crammed and have their own urban charms My hometown is a special place for me as I have spent my childhood there There are three tourist attractions are there and the place is renowned for traditional foods and customs Roads are clean and people are educated there Anyone who would this place

I've played several games, both indoor and outdoor games, and still try to play whenever I get time Among those games, I enjoyed playing chess more than others Chess is an indoor game where two players participate This game does not involve any major physical movements like other outdoor games but a chess player has to use his/her brain and make game plans to defeat the opponent I mostly play this game with my friends and cousins Sometimes I play it with my father and senior relatives Since playing chess requires only placing the board on a surface and sitting position of the two participating players, it is convenient to play chess almost anywhere I mostly play it at our

veranda, garden or bed room I enjoy this game because I have a fascination about this game from my childhood and I really like the overall theme and barnstorming involved in this game It's a thought provoking game that gives the participating players to use their brains A player can apply his/her strategy, and then allure the opponent to fall in trap which 1s much like a real battle field It's not a game where someone would only use the physical movements rather the game requires perfect game plan, finding weakness of the opponent and a battle strategy This game gives you a feel of being the King of a regime where you decide your country men's fate For all those reasons this 1s a very interesting and enjoyable game to me
