HAVE BEEN TO (nơi thú vị bạn đến) I have been to many places in the world and in Vietnam, but the most interesting place that I always remember is Nha Trang, the beautiful coastal city in Vietnam It’s wonderful to me because of these reasons First, the scenery in Nha trang is ideal for us to go sunbathing We can swim in the blue and clear sea water or sunbathing on the soft sand beach under the yellow and warm sunshine The air is so fresh and pure Second, the local sea food are fresh, delicious but not expensive For example, tourists can enjoy different kinds of seafood such as crab, prawn, lobster, seashell… Also, the people there are friendly, sociable and polite Third, there are many interesting activities to beside playing football, tennis on the beach, building sandcastles on the beach or watching the sunrise/sunset For example, we can sail on a boat trip to the Stone Beach called Hon Chong (Husband Rock) and watch the mountain scenery on the way Also, we may visit the Sea TOPIC 20: A MEMORABLE BIRTHDAY PARTY (Bữa tiệc sinh nhật đáng nhớ nhất) My last birthday is a memorable celebration in my life because it was the first time I had my boyfriend beside me on an important day The birthday party took plave (diễn ra) at a small café’ My close friends came early with presents, flowers and fruits They set up (chuẩn bị) everything for me because in our group, when someone’s birthday comes, the other will prepare (chuẩn bị) everything I put on my most beautiful dress and came to the party with my boyfriend He gave a big bunch of roses (bó hoa hồng) and birthday cake When we appeared (xuất hiện), my friends were all surprised (ngạc nhiên) They didn’t know I had a boyfriend I introduced (giới thiệu) my boyfriend to them and we all had a lot of fun wih a lot of memorable pictures TOPIC 21: DIFFICULTIES AT WORK I work as the dean’s assistant (trợ lý trưởng khoa) at Accounting Faculty at Hanoi College of Technology My work is quite interesting (thú vị) but difficult (khó nhọc) as well It is difficult because of the following reasons (lý sau đây) First, I have to a lot of work with both teachers and students They have different characteristics (tính cách) Some are good but some are not responsible (có trách nhiệm), so I have to try a lot to finish the work of the faculty Second, I have a lot of work to during a day It is hard for me to organize the tasks and remember all of them Besides, there are a lot detaied work (công việc chi tiết), so sometimes I cannot avoid making mistakes (không thể tránh khỏi mắc lỗi) Lastly, my work is not only office work, I also have to teach Sometimes, I feel very nervous because when I teach, I still think about other office work It makes my lesson less effective (kém hiệu quả) That’s all TOPIC 22: TRADITIONAL FESTIVAL There are many festivals in Vietnam, but the biggest (lớn nhất) and most important (quan trọng nhất) one is Lunar Year festival (tết âm lịch) On this occasion (dịp), Vietnamese don’t work or study, we have a long holidays of about or days We call it Tet’s holiday Before the festival, we prepare (chuẩn bị) everything (mọi thứ) from food, decoration (đồ trang trí) and new clothes Everybody is busy to go shopping and housework so that everything is perfect (hoàn hảo) to welcome the new year From the first day of new Year, we go to pagodas (chùa) to wish happy things for the coming year, and then come to visit our grandparents, relatives (họ hàng) or friends It is the chance (cơ hội) for us to gather after a year We share our success or failure, talk and have fun After four days enjoying the festival, we come back to our work with a lot of energy and hope TOPIC 23: YOUR FAVORITE RESTAURANT Well , I often go to a Chinese restaurant near my house I and my husband often eat there at weekends or special occasions (cac dip dac biet) The food there is very fresh (tươi) and delicious (ngon) For example, chicken or beef The servers (nguoi phuc vu) are very friendly and helpful Some of them can speak Vietnamese very well We like eatting there because the atmosphere (không khí) is warm (ấm áp) with some soft music Besides, the price (giá cả) is not expensive You just have to pay 150.000 dongs for a meal for two people (91 words) TOPIC 24: YOUR LAST HOLIDAY Last summer holiday, I went to Cat Ba island (đảo) with my coworkers It is in HaiPhong in Vietnam We had to move there by ship (thuyền) because it is an island It is not a big island but the beaches (bãi biển) there are wonderful (đẹp) The water is fresh and the waves (sóng) are fantastic (tuyệt) We took a lot of photographs at noon, and in the evening, we rode bicycles around the island, drank coffee and enjoyed (tận hưởng) the fresh air from the sea There are many foreign tourists (khách nước ngoài) visiting this island, too However, the food and other service (dịch vụ) is quite expensive there So, we just stayed in a small hotel But anyway (dù nữa), we had good time at CatBa (114 words) TOPIC 25: HOW TO IMPROVE MY ENGLISH English is more and more important (càng ngày quan trọng) Here are some ways to help you improve (cải thiện) it First, you should learn more and more new words Vocabulary (tu vung) helps you express (diễn đạt) yourself, say what you want effectively (hieu qua) You should know how to pronounce it (phat am) so that other people can understand you Second, you should spend time listening to native speakers (người ngữ) a lot because Listening skill is very difficult Lastly, you should read more Reading in English help you use English more fluently and correctly It not only improve your vocabulary, writing skill (kỹ viết) but also your knowledge (kiến thức) about English culture (văn hóa) (102 words) TOPIC 26: WAYS OF RELAXING I often cook when I have free time because cooking is really fun - First, cooking a good meal brings happiness to my family All the members in my family often sit around the table and enjoy the food I cook I like to cook new dishes (món mới) for them and I will feel happier if they like the food - Second, cooking helps me reduce (giảm) stress of a hard-working day and makes me relaxed When I cook, I can forget (quên) the problems (các vấn đề) because I just pay attention (chú ý) to the cooking Even, (tham chi), after cooking, I can find some ways to solve (giải quyết) my problem (104 words) TOPIC 27: GOING TO A FRIEND’S BIRTHDAY PẢTY Last weekend I was very glad (vui vẻ) to come to my close friend’s birthday party All her friends and relatives came to the birthday party, too Before the party, I helped her make up and put on her beautiful dress Then she went into the room where everyone was waiting (đợi) for her There were a lot of lovely presents (quà) on a table I bought her a big birthday cake Then, I put on it some candles (nến) We sang (hát) Happy birthday song to her and asked to blow (thổi) the candles and cut the cake We enjoyed the cake and talked with each other Then, everyone took photographs (chụp ảnh) with her I was the photographer We had a lot of beautiful and funny pictures It was a good memory of mine (127 words) TOPIC 28: MOVING TO HANOI – THE CAPITAL OF VIETNAM I came to Hanoi years ago when I went to university (học đại học) At first, I found it very noisy and polluted (ô nhiễm) But now, I decide to live here for the rest (phần lại) of my life because Hanoi is very exciting I don’t find it noisy any more There are many kinds of entertainment centres (trung tâm giải trí), many parks and sports acitivities Living here is convenient, too There are many schools and hospitals and the service (dịch vụ) is good Transportation (sự lại) is also excellent (tuyệt vời) with cheap buses Hanoi is developing a lot with high buildings and factories (nhà máy) so it is easy for a person to find a job I really like living in this active environment (môi trường động) (112 words) TOPIC 29: A HOLIDAY WITH SOME UNPLEASANT THINGS I am on holiday in Cat Ba island with my coworkers (đồng nghiệp) It is in HaiPhong in Vietnam We have to move there by ship (thuyền) because it is an island (đảo) It is not a big island but the beaches (bãi biển) there are wonderful terrible (khủng khiếp) TOPIC 30: MY NEW FLAT I have moved to a new flat It is on the fifth floor (tầng 5) It is small but quite clean and modern We have two rooms only One is for living and one is for cooking We just set up a bed, a working table, a wardrobe (tủ) and a fridge (tủ lạnh) in the living room The kitchen is rather small, but it has a window, so it is quite airy (thoáng khí) What I like most about the flat is that it is on the fifth floor; Therefore, it is quiet and cool We don’t have to worry (lo lắng) about the noise (tiếng ồn) and the heat of the sun (sức nóng mặt trời) (105 words) TOPIC 31: SHOPPING One of my hobbies is shopping It is one way to relax (thư giãn) and reduce (giảm) stress I often shop for clothes with my friends at weekends We often go to the outdoor
