Rèn cho học sinh kỹ năng: Đọc và dựa vào ngữ cảnh, đoán nghĩa từ. Lựa chọn đúng sai. Chọn đáp án cho câu trả lời. 3. Thái độ. Học sinh yêu thích môn học, hứng thú học tập và hiểu được tên của các chương trình truyền hình. II. Chuẩn bị: 1. Giáo viên: sách giáo khoa, phấn, thước, giáo án, phiếu học tập… 2. Học sinh: sách giáo khoa, sách bài tập, bút, bút chì… III. Tiến trình bài giảng: 1. Kiểm tra bài cũ: (không) 2. Bài mới: (41’) Teacher’s activities Students’ activities Activity 1: A – WARM UP (4’) - Ask Ss to close the book then answer some questions: 1. When do you often watch TV? 2. How many channels are there in our national TV? 3. Which programme do you usually watch? 4. How many hours per week do you watch TV? - Give some background information about TV channels in Vietnam. - Give comments and present new lesson: The Mass Media - Work individually to answer questions: 1. I often watch TV in the evening. 2. There are 6 channels in our national TV. 3. I usually watch news, music… 4. I watch TV 14 hours per week. - Listen and take note. Activity 2: B – BEFORE YOU READ (8’) Introduce the new lesson: Mass media refer to public institutions that report news and other stories. Mass media also keep people updated. Today you are going to read about TV programmes schedules. - Provide new words and structures: Population and development: Dân số và phát triển TV series : Phim truyền hình dài tập Folk song : Dân ca nhạc cổ News headlines : Điểm tin chính Weather Forecast : Dự báo thời tiết Quiz Show : Trò chơi truyền hình Portrait of life : Chân dung cuộc sống Documentary : Phim tài liệu Wildlife World : thế giơi thiên nhiên hoang dã Around the world : Vòng quanh thế giới - Read the new words and words in the textbook once. - Ask Ss to read in chorus after T. - Call on some Ss to read out loud. - Correct Ss’ mistakes of pronunciation. - Take note and make sentences with words if have time. - Listen to T. - Read after T. - Read aloud in front of the class. Activity 3 C – WHILE YOU READ (23’) Task 1: (7’) Matching Giving instruction: You are required to match words with their definition. - Before Ss listen and do the task, instruct them to use some strategies: + Read the passage quickly. + Stop at the lines that contain these words to guess their meanings. + Match the words with their meaning - Go around providing help. - Ask Ss to compare their answers with another student. - Check Ss’ understanding by asking them to provide the Vietnamese equivalents to the words. - Call on some Ss to give the answers. - Listen to T and guess the meaning of the words based on the contexts in the sentences and the components the words. - Work in pairs. - Tell Vietnamese. - Give the answers: - Give feedbacks. Task 2: (8) True / false statements Giving instruction: You are going to read the programmes again and decide whether the statements are true or false. Put a tick (√) in the appropriate box. - Before Ss listen and do the task, instruct them to use some strategies: + Read through the statements to understand them. + Underline the key words. + Find the information in the textbook and compare them with ones in the task. If the statement is similar to the information in the text, select “True”. If the statement is opposite to the information in the text, select “False”. - Let Ss guess the answers. - Ask Ss to do the task individually. - Ask Ss to work in pairs to compare their answers. - Call on some Ss to give the answers. - Give comments and feedbacks. Task 3: (8’) Choosing the best answer for each question Giving instruction: You are going to read a passage again and answer the questions in the book by choosing the best answer. - Ask Ss how to do the task. If Ss forget, guide them to do the task. + First, skim the six questions to understand them. + Go back to the first question and locate the information for the question by finding the key words in the passage and mark the place. 1 – c 2 – a 3 – d 4 – b - Listen to T, read the sentences and find key words: 1. five news programmes, three channels 2. a comedy programme, between 10:15 and 11:00 3. I like Game show The price is right most because it is very interesting, easy to play. Besides the reward for the winner is valuable. Another reason I like this game show is the MC Luu Minh Vu is humorous and very intelligent. 3. Củng cố: (2’) - Summarize the main points of the lesson: + New words that related to the lesson. + Some channels in the TV and programmes on these channels. 4.
