Teaching aids: • Pictures and posters. • Books and notebooks. • Tape and cassette. V. Procedure: 1. Warm up (7 minutes) Teacher’s activities Students’ activities - Divide the class into 2 teams, each team has 5 students. - Show the 1 st student in each a sent. + The 1 st student whispers the whole sent. To the 2 nd student in her/ his line. + The 2 nd student whispers to the 3 rd and so on. + The last student shouts out the sentence + If it the same as the sentence teacher shows, that team wins the match. - Play the game in two teams of five students. 2. Pre – listening (8 minutes) - Explain :everything which is connected with the sun: + picture + translation + translation - Checking vocabulary - Ask Ss to look at the statements on p.60 (4a) and work in pairs and guess which sentences are true which ones are false. While – listening (12 minutes) - Set a scene to lead in the lesson: We are going to use solar energy in our daily life. What is solar energy? We are going to study in this lesson. - Have Ss listen to the tape then write down the answers. 1. Solar energy can be cheap and clean. 2. Most of our electricity now comes form nuclear power. 3. The solar energy that gets to the Earth cannot provide enough power for the world’s population. 4. Soy solar energy can be used on cloudy days. 5. All buildings in Sweden will be heated by solar energy in 2050. - Have Ss listen to the tape twice and check again T or F. - Call Ss to write on the board. - After the first time ask Ss go on the board and tick the sentence they hear T or F. - Have Ss listen to tape once more then check the answers. - Give feedback and give the key. - Ask Ss listen to the tape twice to find out the missing words in the sentences in exercise 2. 1.
