2 nd Semester Week: Period: LESSON PLAN UNIT 11: MY FAMILY Lesson 2: (Part 1, 2) Age: 8-9 years old Time: 30 minutes Number of pupils: 35 I. Objectives: By the end of this lesson, Students will be able to ask who someone is. II. Language Focus: - Phonics: father, mother. - Vocabulary: father, mother, sister, brother, grandfather, grandmother, grandpa, grandma. - Sentence patterns: • This is my grandfather. • That’s my grandmother. III. Methods: PPP (Presentation - Practice - Production) IV. Skills: Listening, Speaking. V. Teaching aids: Recording, computer. VI. Resources: Student Book Tieng Anh 3, Unit 11, page 8. VII. Procedures: Contents Teacher’s activities Students’ activities I.Warm up: (3’) -Let’s dance “Chicken dance”. -Dance II.Presentatio n: (3’) *Set a context: Lan and Phong are close friends. It was a nice day, Phong visited Lan’s house. He saw a big picture of family, Phong asked: Who’s this? Lan answered: This is my grandfather. At home, I call him grandpa. Phong asked: Who’s that? Lan answered: That’s my grandmother. At home, I call her grandma. Grandpa and grandma Father and mother Brother and sister And me -Listen carefully We are a big family. III.Practice: a.Activity 1: Listen & repeat (10’) -Have ss look at the words father and mother on the screen and focus their attention on the letters coloured differently in both words. -Call on some ss to read aloud these two words. -Guide how to produce the sound of letters th in the word father and the letters er in the word mother. -Produce these sounds a few times. -Give the meaning of the vocabulary: grandfather, grandmother, grandpa, grandma by asking: “Who’s this?” -T plays the recording, ask ss to look and listen carefully. -T reads again then asks ss to repeat each line following T (a few times). Correct their pronunciation if necessary. -Divide the class into 2 groups to practice. -Call ss to work in pairs and reinforce their pronunciation. * Collecting cheese: + Divide class into 2 teams: Tom and Jerry. +Show the pictures of family member in 2 seconds, and then hide it. +Which team have right answers will eat a cheese. +Which team have more cheese than another one will be the winner. +Check ss’ comprehension. - Look at -Read aloud -Say as T say -Repeat -Look and answer -Look and listen -Listen and repeat. -Group work -Pair work -Play games b.Activity 2: Listen & tick (10’) -Have ss look at 4 pictures on slides, get them to identify the characters in the pictures and their relationships by asking: +Who’s this? It’s my ……… +Is this your ……….? Yes, ……. -Ask ss to listen carefully and match the information to the pictures and tick the box in the appropriate pictures. +1 st : Play the recording +2 nd :Play the recording again for ss to listen and tick the correct pictures. +Get ss to trade their answers in pair for correction. +3 rd : Replay the recording to check their answers. - Give answers: 1b; 2a. -Ask some questions to ensure ss’ comprehension of the listening text. -Have the whole class repeat all sentences on the recording to reinforce their pronunciation. -Look at these pictures and identify -Listen carefully -Trade their answers in pair -Answer -Repeat IV.Production: (3’) -Ask ss to draw one member in their family they like on their fingertips. -Monitor activities. -Call ss to work in pairs and practice by asking and answering. +Who’s this? -This’s my ………… -I call her ………… -Draw -Practice V.Homework: (1’) -Ask ss to learn by heart the sentence patterns and new words. -Individually . call him grandpa.
