Objectives: After the lesson, students are able to: - Greet someone formally. II. Language contents: - Vocabulary: morning, afternoon. evening. - Grammar : Good morning, Miss Hien. - Skills: Listening - Speaking III. Teaching aids: - Teaching aids: puppets , recording. - Resources: student’s book ( p.6), workbook ( p. 5) IV/ Procedure Teacher’s work Students’ activities I. Warm up - Have Ss play the game: passing ball to introduce themselves. II. Presentation 1. Look, listen and repeat. - Ask Ss to identify the characters. Who is this? Who are they? - Have Ss listen and repeat the short conversation between Miss Hien and her pupils. ( twice) - Have Ss play role to read the dialog in groups. - Call some pairs to read the conversation. - Check Ss’ understanding: T: Good morning, class. + Encourage Ss to say: Good morning, Miss Huong. 2. Look and say: - Play the game. Class: What’s your name? S1: My name’s Nam. / I’m Nam. - Identify the characters. Miss Hien Students / pupils - Listen and repeat. - Play roles to read. One group repeats Miss Hien’s part and the other the pupils’ part. - Read in pairs. - Greet in chorus: Good morning, Miss Huong. III. Practice: - Have Ss work in pairs to play roles - Do as an example with picture a. T: Good morning, Nga. S1: Good morning, Mr Loc. - Call some pairs to practice speaking IV. Production - Ask pupils to open their students’ books on page 7. - Ask them to look at pictures and say the names of the characters. - Ask then to identify parts of the day. - Have Ss listen to the recording and tick the correct answers. - Play the recording and ask Ss to listen and tick. - Play the recording again and ask Ss to listen and check their answers. - Have Ss give the answers and correct. V. Conclusion and homework - Ask Ss to do Ex A,B at home. - Identify the people in each picture: Picture a: Mr Loc and Nga. Picture b: Mr green and Mrs Brown. Picture c: Mr Brown and Mrs Green. Teaching aids: - Teaching aids: recording, Part’s flash cards of the day. - Resources: student’s book ( P.8), Workbook ( P.4) IV. Procedure: Teacher’s work Students’ activities I. Warm up - Say greetings. - Have Ss play the game: Slap the board. II. Activity 1: Listen and repeat. - Have Ss look at the picture in part 1 (p. 8) to identify the people and the parts of the day. - Let Ss pay attention to the letters coloured differently. - Have Ss learn to produce the sound of the letters “ ng” in the word morning and that of the letter “n” in the word afternoon. - Play the tape and ask Ss to listen. - Respond. - Work in groups to play the game. - Identify the people and the parts of the day: Miss Hien, Nga and Linda, morning, afternoon. - Listen. Warm up: Bingo - Tell Ss: there are six words in the grid: ( good morning, good afternoon. Good evening, goodbye and hello) - Ask Ss to copy the grid down to their notebooks and select six words at random to put them in the boxes. - Call out the words until there is a pupil getting three words on a straight line crossed out and calling Bingo! He or She is the winner. II. Activity 1: Listen and repeat. - Ask Ss to open their books on P.10 - Ask: Who is this? Is Tom happy or unhappy? - Teach the word “ bored”. It means unhappy using a simple drawing. - Play again and ask Ss to repeat each line of the text. - Divide the class into two groups to play roles. - Listen. - Play the game: x x x x x x - Look and find. - Answer: Tom and Mr Robot Tom is unhappy. - Read the word and guess the meaning. - Listen and repeat. - Read in groups.
