Questions - Where is your house ? - Is it big or small ? - How many rooms are there? What are they? - Who do you live with ? - Do you love your home ? *Pre - teach -Teacher sets the scene by asking Ss about the picture - What are Nick and Mi doing ? - What are they talking about ? - Elicits the new words using pictures and explaination * Vocabulary checking : R.O.R Feedback1 ( 2Ss give their prediction) B. NEW LESSON I. Getting Started. 1. Vocabulary: - A sofa : - Center - noisy (a) - To move - An apartment - A cousin - A bedroom - A kitchen - A bathroom 2. Prediction : 1b. Teaching points: - To review vocabularies, and to know some more about things in houses. - Pronounce correctly the sounds /z/, /s/ and /iz/ *Teaching aids: cassette, poster. III. Teaching steps. Teacher & Students Board & contents Have Ss work in 2 teams -Get them to match E with Vmese words -Give feed back. Explain Hall and Attic. A. (S by S) -Check the answer. Explain to them some new words. -Play the recording. -Ss listen and repeat. B. NEW LESSON. I. VOCABULARY. 1. Name the rooms of the house. KEY. a. living room b. bedroom c. attic d. bathroom e. kitchen f. hall 2. Name the things in each room. Key. *Living room: lamp, sofa, picture, table. *Bedroom: bed, lamp, picture, chest of drawer. * Kitchen: fridge, cupboard, cooker, table, dishwasher, chair. *Bathroom: bath, sink, toilet. *Hall: picture. 3. Listen and repeat. 4. Ask and answer. -Tell Ss to do the task in pairs. -Then call some pairs to ask and answer. -Correct pronunciation. Eg: A: What’s in the room? B: A sofa and a television. A: Is it the living room? B: Yes. - T asks some Ss to read out the words first , then plays the recording for them to listen and repeat the words - T asks Ss to put the word in the correct columns while they listen - Ss compare their answers in pairs before T checks their answers with the whole class - T has Ss comment on the way to pronounce -S /-ES at the end of the words - T explains the rules - T asks Ss to give more examples -T asks Ss to read the conversation and underline the final s/ es in the words and write /s/ /z/ /iz/ ( individually) -Play the recording. Ss listen and repeat sentence by sentence. Help them to recognize the sounds. -Ss practise the conversation with the partner. II. PRONUNCIATION: /s/ /z/ /iz/ 5. Listen and repeat lamps posters sinks fridge tables wardrobes toilets beds 6. Listen then put the words in the correct column. Key. /Z/ /S/ /IZ/ Posters,tables, wardrobes,beds Lamps, sinks, toilets Fridges RULES: How to pronounce the final s, es + /Z/ Final -S is pronounced /Z/ after voiced sounds (b,d,g,h.m.l. . ) and any vowel sounds . Eg : beds . dogs, cans, rooms + /S/ Final -S is pronounced /S/ after voiceless sounds (t,p,k, f, ) Eg: cats. lamps , books, months + /IZ/ Final -ES is pronounced /IZ/ after s, z, ∫ , t∫, d Eg: buses , houses , watches , pages 7. Listen and repeat. Underline the final s, es in the words & write /z /, /s/ and /iz/ KEY: + /Z/ things , pictures + /S/ lights , chopsticks + /IZ/ dishes , vases 8. Listen and repeat. Home work -Summarize the main points of the lesson. -Assign home work. C. HOMEWORK. -Learn by heart new words. -Practice the sounds /z/, /s/ and /iz/. -Practise reading Ex7. -Do Ex…in Ex book. Teaching points: -By the end of the lesson, Ss wil be able to use “there is, isn’t; there are, aren’t” correctly and appropriately. * Teaching aids: posters. II. Teaching steps: Teacher & Students Board & contents -Ask Ss to play in groups of five. -Go around and give help. I. WARM UP : Chain game ( Ss tell what rooms their house has ) S1: My house has a living room S2: My house has a living room and a dining room S3: My house has a living room , a dining room and a bathroom … 1. Presentation -T asks Ss to look at the two pictures of the two rooms and asks them what the first room has and what the 2 nd room does not have - T writes -Ss’s answers on the board , at the same time asks Ss to use the “there is , there isn’t , there are , there aren’t” structure to make sentences -T checks the meaning , use ,and form of the structure. -Explains if the noun is sinular or uncountable, we use “is” even if after this noun there are some other plural nouns. Eg: there is a dog and two cats un der the table. - Ss give more examples. 1. There is a school bag on the table. B. NEW LESSON. I. Grammar. 1. There is a picture on the wall. 2. There isn’t a picture on the wall. 3. There are two lamps in the room. 4. There aren’t two lamps in the room. 5. Is there a picture on the wall? -Yes, there is/ No, there isn’t. 6. Are there two lamps in the room? -Yes, there are/ No, there aren’t. *Form : - Affirmative & Negative : There is (not) + singular noun/ uncountable noun There are (not) + plural noun - Questions and short answers -Is there a . . . ? -Yes, there is / No there isn’t -Are there + . . ? -Yes, there are/ No , there aren’t *Meaning : Có ai, cái gì (ở nơi nào) * Use : Diễn tả sự tồn tại của một, nhiều người, vật (ở nơi nào). 2. There are 30 students in the room. - Ss work in pairs. -Go round and correct mistakes or give help when necessary. - T asks Ss to write positive and negative sentences , using the cues - Ss write the sentences individually then go to the board to write their sentences - Other Ss and T feedbacks ( all the sentences are accepted if they make sense ) - T asks Ss to look at the picture and complete the description in pairs. - Ss compare their answers , then give teacher their answers. -Correct. Vocabulary - villa : biệt thự - stilt house: nhà sàn. - Ss look at the picture of Mi’s grandparents’ house and complete the sentences. -Crrect. - T explains the way to do the activity 2. Practice : * Activity 1. After some minutes, the pair which has the most differences will be the winner -T asks some pairs to act out the conversation -Other pairs listen and add more differences if there are any - T asks Ss to draw a simple plan of their houses, then work in pairs to tell each other about their houses T: Nick lives in a country house . vWhere does Mi live ? Teaching points: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: - knowhow to study skills – reading - understand the letter - describe a room *Teaching aids: - Poster II. teaching steps Teacher & Ss Board & contents - T calls on Ss from different teams to go to the board and write the name of the things . Which ever team gives more things will be the winner. A. OLD LESSON. “Name the things they often see in a hotel room” A bath, a tub, a bed… Pre- -Present some new words. -Ss repeat and copy them. -Check ROR. B. NEW LESSON 1.
