Unit 5: Study habits Getting started, Listen and read I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson, sts will be able to understand the dialogue between Jim and his Mom about his study. Morale: Educate sts to to study hard to make their parents be happy. II. Language contents: 1. Vocabulary: a report card, pronunciation, improve, be proud of, try one’s best 2. Grammar: Averbs of manner 3. Structure: Try one’s best to do s.th IV. Techniques: Pairwork, brainstorming. V. Time: 45 ms VI. Produres: Teacher and Sts’ activities Contents 1. Warm-up: ( Brainstorming) T write the topic on the board. Ask Sts to write the names of the subjects T asks Sts some questions to elicit the topic Sts answer. * Brainstorming: Math History Music Physics Literature Chemistry * Quetiions: What subject are you good at ? What subject are you bad at ? 2. Presentation: a) Set the scene. T Set the scene of the dialogue. What subject do you like best?. Why?. How often do you have Math/ English?. * “Tim’s Mom has been to Tim’s subjects at school school. Mrs Jackson give her a report- card. Tim’s Mom talk to him about his report-card. b) Pre-teach vocabulary: T Elicits vocab using realia (mine) (situation) (translation) (example) * Vocabulary: a report- card (n) phiÕu ®iÓm pronunciation (n) c¸ch ph¸t ©m improve (v) trau dåi proun (of) sb/st (adj) tù hµo (vÒ) try one’s best to do s.th * Checking vocab: (Rubout and remember) T reads. Sts r epeat (chorus and individaul) T asks Sts to listen and the dialogue (twice) and read it at the same time. 3. Practice: Ex: He tries his best to help me. 1. Practice the dialogue with a a. Practice the dialogue. Get Sts to practice the dialogue in pairs. T calls some pairs to present it before the class. b. True/False statements: Get Sts to read the T/F statements and answer which sentences are true and which are false. Sts give answers T calls sts to go to the board and correct false statements. T gives feedback. partner: * True or False?
