Stages Teacher’s and students’ activities Content Warm - up Presentation - Asks sts to complete some sentences such as: - Sts do. - Others look and check. - Introduces content of lesson with the present simple tense with ordinary verbs. - Explains and gives some examples. ex: - He (am / are / is ) a student. - My father and mother (is / are / am) farmers. - They ( is / are / am ) eleven years old. - She sometimes (goes / go / going) school late. * The present simple tense: + Affirmative: S + V - s / es. ex: I go to school in the morning. Linh goes to school in the morning. *Note: 1 Teacher: Pham Tien Luc – Tan Lap secondary school – English 8 Practice - Sts listen. - Teacher asks sts to do some exercises by choosing the correct word in the brackets on the board that teacher given. - Sts do. - Others look and check. - With verbs end: s, ch, sh, o, x we will add “es” when before verbs are singular subjects (the singular third subjects). ex: She goes to school every morning. - With verbs end: “y” that has a consonant before it, we’ll change “y”  “i” then add “es”. ex: study  studies but stay  stays + Negative: S + do / does + not + V(inf) ex: She does not go to school every morning doesn’t * Note: do not  don’t does not  doesn’t + Interrogative: Do / Does + S + V(inf)?
