Lesson plan: English 7 NGUYEN TRUONG TO School THE SECOND SEMESTER WEEK: 19 Period : 55 Date of teaching: January 11th, 2010 Unit9: AT HOME AND AWAY A- A holiday in Nha Trang ( A1) I Objectives : _ At the end of this period, ss will be able to: Know and use the simple past tense. Know and describe after the trip. II. Language contents: _ Grammar: - Simple past tense. _ Vocabulary: return, wonderful, aquarium, gift. II. Techniques: _ Group work and pair work. _ Chatting IV. Teaching aids: _ Color chalk, pictures and sub-board. V. Procedures : Teacher & ss’ activities Contents A. Warming up: Chatting T & Ss ask and answer some questions. B. New lesson 1. Presentation T: Introduce new grammar ‘ simple past tense’ with “ To be” and “ verb” .Then take some examples. Ss: Look listen and copy down. T: First set situation , read the conversation and give out some new words, then practice them. Ss: Listen , copy down and practice. 1. Do you visit NhaTrang ? 2. What do you think about Nhatrang ? 3. Is it beautiful? 4. What places do you want to visit? 1. Listen. Teaching aids: _ Color chalk, pictures and sub-board. V. Procedures : Teacher & Ss’ activities Contents A. Warming up: Chatting _ Ask some ss to talk about Liz’s vacation. The Robinson family went to the aquarium. b. They saw sharks, dolphins, turtles, and many of colorful fish. c. There was a souvenir shop near the exit of the aquarium. d. Mr Robinson bought Liz cap with a picture of dolphin on it. Mrs Robinson bought a poster. e. After their visiting to the aquarium the Robinson went to a food stall. Mrs and Mr Robinson ate fish and crab. A holiday in Nha Trang ( A3- A4 + RE) I Objectives : _ At the end of this period, ss will be able to: listen for details and practice the simple past tense. Read Ba’s daily to understand and talk about past activities. II. Language contents: _ Grammar: - Simple past tense. _ Vocabulary: unfortunately, peaceful, peanut, rent, keep in touch, improve. II. Techniques: _ Ask & answer , pair work. _ Chatting, matching IV. Teaching aids: _ Color chalk, pictures and sub-board. V. Procedures : Teacher & Ss’ activities Contents A. Warming up: Match T: Ask ss to match an infinitive verb with past verb. Ss: Try to match B. New lesson 1.Pre-listening T: Have ss tell about trip to NT and set situation then give out some new words. Ss: Listen, tell story and copy down then practice them 2. While-listening T: Read passage 3 times and have to correct order. Ss: Listen and try to do The Robinsons had a great holiday in NT. Unfortunately, the holiday soon ended and it was the time to return home. They took a bus back to Hanoi . Liz was excited as the bus drove through the countryside. She saw rice paddy for the first time. Everything looked calm and peaceful. At four o’clock, the bus stopped at a small roadside restaurant for 10 minutes. Mr . Robinson was asleep, so Mrs. Robinson bought some peanuts and an ice cream for Liz. The bus arrived in Hanoi at about 7pm 3. Techniques: _ Ask & answer , pair work. _ Chatting, matching IV. Teaching aids: _ Color chalk, pictures and sub-board. V. Procedures : Teacher & Ss’ activities Contents Presentation : T: Ask Sts to look at the picture and say the situation of the dilogue. Language contents: _ Grammar: - Simple past tense. _ Vocabulary: sewing, hobby, useful, decide, how to sew, sewing machine, cushion, skirt, pretty,try on, fit, problem, finally II. Procedures : Teacher & ss’ activities Contents Teacher: NGUYEN THI KIEU VAN 6 Lesson plan: English 7 NGUYEN TRUONG TO School Revision : Having pars of Sts reproduce the dialogue and answer the questions Presentation : Ask Sts some questions to introduce the situation .Practice : - Let them read the passage silently. - Ask Sts what the passage is about . - T hightlight the past form of the regular verb and the structure, some newwords. - Ask Sts to the questions and find the answers in the passage. - Sts read then answer the questions by themselves. - Have them compare with a partner. - Sts cross-check their answers. - Sts gives the questions one by one. - Sts listen and answer T correct Consolidation : Having some good Sts retell the story Presentation : Ask Sts some past form of the verbs to introduce the situation .Practice : - Let them read through the sentences. - Students read. - Asking Sts to use the correct past form of the verb to complete the sentences. - Students do their task. - Let them check their answers with their partners Remember: Having them retell the formation of the simple past tense and notice some B3 Questions: Do you know how to sew/mend clothes ?
