The way to learn English well: T: Makes the questions: How to learn English well (in general) Ss: Discuss in groups then speak out their ideas T: Concludes some basic methods to learn English well Ss: Work hard + Vocab: on board, small paper, dandwriting book…. + Grammar: handwriting book, in other situations…. + Intonation: Eg: Would you like to go to the movies? # What would you like? + Writing/ reading/ speaking/ listening: Practise many times (topic0 II. Introduce English 8 book . T: Writes the questions on the board “ How to learn English 8 book?” T: How many E 8 book do you have? Ss: one text book and two work books T: Let’s talk about the text book T: How many units ? Ss: 16 units T: How many topics do you learn? Ss: Point out : My friend, At home, countrylife and citylife T: How many units have one language focus? Ss: One unit has one language focus T: How many parts does eachunit have? T: Now in groups, you think of the adjectives used to describe body build and hair. T limits the time and then ask Ss to give their answers. II. PRE - SPEAKING. * Pre teach. * Presentation dialogue. T shows Ss a picture of Mary and asks them to describe her hair, her body build. Example: - She has long black hair. - She is short and thin. Form: 1) S + have/ has + adjectives + hair. 2) S + be + adjectives. III. WAYS OF TEACHING: Groups, pairs, whole class. PROCEDURES:Date of teaching:24/08/ 2009. I.WARM UP: Chatting (Getting started) T: Now look at four pictures on page 10 and tell me about the activitives they want to do after school or in their free time. Ss look at the pictures / P10 and describe the groups of friends and their activities. T gives Ss some questions: - What are these Ss doing? - What time of the day do they think it is? - Do you like soccer/ reading books? PRE - READING * Pre teach: a character (translation) : tính tình an orphanage (explanation- a place where children without parents live) a sense of humor (translation) : tính hài hước sociable (adj) (translation) : thích giao du reserved (adj) (translation) : kín đáo (to) tell jokes (explanation - tell a story which makes people laugh) • Check vocabulary : What and where. * T/F statements prediction. T hangs the poster on and sets the scene: These statements are about Bad and his friends, you read and guess which are true and which are false. You close your books and work in pairs. Ss work in pairs and guess. a. Ba has only three friends: Bao, Song, Khai. b. Ba and his friends have the same characters. c. Bao, Song, Khai are quite reserved in public. d. They all enjoy school and study hard. T gets Ss’s guess. III. WHILE READING. T: Now, open your books and read the text on page 13 to check your predictions Ss read the text / P13 and check their prediction and then compare with their partners. Do you and your frieds have the same of different characters? → IV. POST READING. Ss work in groups to talk to one another about their friends using the adjectives they have just learn to describe. V. HOMEWORK. - Write a paragraph (about 50 words) about one close friend. - Exercises : 4/P8 (Work book) UNIT 1: MY FRIENDS LESSON 4: WRITE - P15 LANGUE FOCUS 3 - P17 Period 5 OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to + write a paragraph about their close friends. + practice with a patner TEACHING AIDS : Textbooks, pictures. WAYS OF TEACHING: Individual, pairs, groups. PROCEDURES:Date of teaching: 25/ 08/ 2009. I. WARM UP : Kim's game T asks Ss to look at the picture on page 17 quickly in 20 seconds and then keep their books closed, then T divides the class into four groups. T gives Ss two questions, the group which answers correctly the fastest wins the game. a. How many people are there in the picture ? (4) b. What is each person wearing? + The woman is wearing a red shirt and a green skirt. + The man who is standing beside the car is wearing brown trousers and a yellow shirt. + The man who is standing on the pavement is wearing a pink shirt and blue trousers. + The boy is wearing blue shorts and a white shirt. II. PRE - WRITING * Reading comprehension. T asks students to read the information about Tam then answer some questions to check understanding. Ss read about Tam and answer the questions. Ss work in pairs to answer the questions about themselves and take notes of the answer. III. WHILE – WRITING. T: Now you work individually and write a paragraph about Tam, using the information you have just got. Then compare with the paragraph in your books on page 15. Ss work individually and write. T gets Ss to show their paragraph and corrects them. T asks Ss to write a paragraph about their partner using the notes then write a paragraph about their close friends or about himself (herself). Ss write and then compare with their partners. IV. POST – WRITING. * Correction. Ss swap their writing and correct for each other. T: Now you write a similar paragraph about yourselves. Ss work individually and write. T goes round and helps Ss. Then asks Ss to speak in front of the class about themselves. T corrects. V. T divides class into two groups. Then T gives four letters at the same time. Ss have to find out four ajectives beginning with four letters given. Ss work in groups and find out adjs. PRESENTATION1. * Pre teach: Vocabulary a planet (Eg: the sun, the moon, the earth ) What are they ? T asks Ss to say about simple present tense: formation, usage. Ss focus on one of the usage of simple present tense. It is used to express an action which is always true. Ss make sentences *PRACTICE 1. T gives Ss five verbs: be – move – set – rise – go and asks Ss to complete the dialogue between Ba and Tuan, his young cousin. Ss work in pairs. Answers. (0) rises (3) moves (5) is (1) sets (4) is (6) is (2) goes T asks Ss to practice the dialogue in pairs and corrects their pronuciation.
