would be a harsh path if I did not get help from several people Entire my internship period at the Department of External Relations of An Giang Province, I have been learning more knowledge about many aspects of my life such as history, policy, life skills, soft skills, communication skills I find it thankful for the devotion, enthusiasm, commitment, admiration, attentiveness which I have received material so that I could have an overview look at the Department of External Relations of An Giang Province According to those material, we got some general information about our internship agency 1.1 Cultural diplomacy Cultural diplomacy in international relations is a kind of diplomacy with the international mass and soft power that includes the of ideas, information and other aspects of culture between nations and people of countries in order to foster mutual understanding The purpose of cultural to expand an understanding of the belief, they admire cows so much that is the reason why we must concern carefully if we have an occasion to feast Indian people a party The Indian people will be dissatisfied if we have beefsteak on the menu This is a simple example in which we can realize how important cultural diplomacy is 1.2 Diplomatic protocol Diplomatic protocol is a constituent part of diplomatic activities It is not a core element; however, it contributes to the success of any good impression for our guests Therefore, everything will be developed smoothly Mr.Phuc had a presentation about many aspects we need to put under concern The diplomatic protocol must be based on some principles such as mutual respect, equality, no discrimination, reciprocity, combining international laws with national regulation, and national tradition How to welcome a delegation of foreign guests Seat arrangement according to the rank, position, kind of meeting, or ceremony How to set up a party How to write an invitation following diplomatic protocol rules The way we can design a background Communication skills this explains the importance of communication skills Mr.Phuc taught us how to make friends by asking suitable questions Silence is positive in some situations How to offer and receive a card business He also presented to us some solutions to solve awkward circumstances, emotional control skills To sum up, I figured out communication skills are necessary for everybody who Carrying out a simulation of welcome ceremony for the Consul General of India From the fifth to sixth week, Mr Phuc instructed us to conduct a trial welcome ceremony for the Consul General of India visiting the Department of External Relations of An Giang Province Moreover, he asked us to outline an assignment dividing responsibility for each member During the period, we received instruction and explanation from Mr Phuc There were several stages of this task, therefore we usually mistakes, we started to play as attendant people in the welcome ceremony, I worked as the Consul General of India At the same time, Mr Phuc would interrupt right the moments we did wrong or made mistakes so that he could correct us immediately Picture The trial welcome ceremony for The Consul General of India HUYNH THI MY LAN-DH18TA 14 Instructor: M.A Nguyen Thi Xuan Binh Internship Report 1.5 Writing a CV and Trying to get success in an interview First of all, Mr Phuc gave out us write a CV at home and he would correct it when we went to the Department of External Relations for the meeting In this meeting, he showed every CV one by one In addition, he pointed out the strengths and weaknesses He gave us some advice about many irrelevant aspects that we should not mention in the CV In the next stage, he arranged a trial interview for us and he would be an employer He taught us how to take a seat, and react to others Moreover, he gave some advice about asking proper questions to the employer In general, this is the first time when I experienced such a challenging interview However, in my future, I may go through many difficult interviews This would be a memorable experience for me 1.6 Reading, comprehending many brilliant books, and getting more precious information Together with a number of books that were sent from the first two weeks, Mr Phuc has been sending several books for five weeks left Honestly, I could not read all books but I will try to read and comprehend as much as I could Moreover, I am going to read all of them in the future That is good for me and necessary for my life Some iconic books are valuable for everyone that we need to read at least once We can learn about the knowledge, wars, economic strategy In short, those are not only about improving English skills but also about changing lifestyle, becoming a more goal-oriented person HUYNH THI MY LAN-DH18TA 15 Instructor: M.A Nguyen Thi Xuan Binh Internship Report Picture Some typical books Translation In the third week, gradually we felt familiar with the working environment of the Department of External Relations Then, we started to translate some documents both Vietnamese to English and English to Vietnamese English to Vietnamese: it was the first time I translated a diplomatic note, in particular, it was from the Embassy of India, Ha Noi At first, we all did translation at home then, he would correct translations one by one Finally, he taught us if we find it difficult to translate, we should have an escaping meaning Furthermore, we translate attraction and career choice motivation in a socialist-market economyresearches Because research translation is really challenging for us, we were divided into some smaller groups to complete this task After all, he sent us the answer key for reviewing by ourselves It took a long time for correcting one by one HUYNH THI MY LAN-DH18TA 16 Instructor: M.A Nguyen Thi Xuan Binh Internship Report Vietnamese to English: I translated lots of document - the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Ministry of Economy, Labor and Health of Mecklenburg Vorpommern state- that instructed the fulfilling of tax obligations applicable to foreign organizations and individuals doing beyond our ability, however, we tried our best in order that we could complete those works To sum up, we have learned many new words, idioms, specific lexis about economic laws, and so on Gaining experience from the instructor During the internship, Mr Phuc shared many life experiences, needed skills, and effective learning methods He taught me how to remember new knowledge or information for a long time It is not only about English, but also about a number of aspects and fields of our lives He introduced many reliable learning sources, especially books and YouTube channels I could not realize how much information and knowledge that I perceived from him Interpretation practice In some last weeks, we got a chance to go through a trial chasing interpretation He showed us a video that is about The Final Debate Between Donald Trump and Joe Biden We would listen to this video and tried to translate it at once He shared his own experience with how to have a stenograph and writing skills in case we did not catch up with speakers In the real-life, if we are an interpreter, we will implement some prosper tricks easy job for everyone that needs many factors such as knowledge, solving -problem skills, language skills Therefore, we need to practice harshly to achieve the goal Presentation skills HUYNH THI MY LAN-DH18TA 17 Instructor: M.A Nguyen Thi Xuan Binh Internship Report In the two last weeks of my internship, we were offered eight topics to choose We chose one topic out of eight: External information Introduction about a region or a university The ocean and island sovereignty problem History of diplomacy Introduction about a policy (national strategy on green growth, poverty reduction, competing ability) Diplomatic Bluebook International treaties, international agreements English/Vietnamese translation and interpretation skills After choosing the most favorite topic, we were divided into three groups We wrote a 2000-word summary and complete a PowerPoint presentation We submitted the summary and presented our prepared PowerPoint In this presentation, we would show all skills of presenting, answering, and everything how to get success in this presentation In general, we all were doing good Because we went through many presentations in our studying period of 3.5 years at university, this task was quite easy for us However, we will try our best to master this skill HUYNH THI MY LAN-DH18TA
