concen tration range for wh ich the heat exch ang er is su i table An appli ance whose heat exchan g ers m ay be damag ed as a resul t of freezing (i e water to water h eat pu mps, water to air heat pu mps or ch il lers) shall be tested as foll ows: a) The appl iance shal l be al lowed to ru n un der stable conditions The vol u me flow throu g h th e evaporator shal l be m onitored b) The circu lation pu mp will be swi tched off c) The freezing protection device shall swi tch off the compressor d) After , the circu lation pu m p wil l be switched on again an d the com pressor will restart e) The procedu res of i tems b) an d d) shal l be repeated times f) After repeti tions, the volu me flow throu g h th e evaporator sh all not be lower th an the flow measu red in item a) Al lowance for the measu remen t tolerance has to be taken i n to accou nt g ) The appliance shal l be tested with th e imum water flow at th e rated vol tage and frequ ency u n der the fol lowin g temperatu re condi ti ons • • • • The water ou tlet is set ju st above th e lowest cu t ou t (taki ng in to accou n t tolerances) of the safety devices for protection ag nst freezin g of th e evaporator The denser side is set so as to g et th e lowest condensati on temperature with in th e normal operation rang e The test equ ipmen t shal l be set so that there is no au tomatic adju stmen t of th e water fl ow on the evaporator side The appli ance shall operate tin uou sly for a period of h Du ri ng h , non e of th e foll owing conditions, indicati ng the start of freezin g , shall appear: I EC 60335-2-40:201 3+AM D1 :201 CSV  I EC 201 – 67 – i) the water flow on the evaporator side wi ll not drop more th an % compared to the i nitial water flow; i i) th e evaporati ng tem peratu re wil l not drop more th an K; ii i) th e temperatu re di fference between i nlet an d ou tlet water temperatu re of the evaporator wil l not drop m ore than 30 % compared to the in iti al temperatu re difference GG.7 Additional testing The appl iance sh al l then be tested wi th a maxim u m water flow u n der the condi tions described in item g) of Clau se GG GG.8 Non fixed factory sealed single package units with a refrigerant charge of m < mc ≤ × m1 GG8.1 For non- fixed factory sealed single package units (i e one fu ncti onal u nit in one encl osu re) wi th a refrigerant charge of m1 < mc ≤ × m1 , the maximum refrigerant charge i n a room shall be in accordance with the followin g : mm ax = 0, 25 × A × LFL × 2, or the requ ired m in im u m floor area, A m i n , to instal l an appli ance wi th refri g eran t ch arg e sh al l be i n accordance wi th th e followi ng : mc Am i n = mc /(0, 25 × LFL × 2, 2) wh ere mm ax mc Am i n A LFL 2, 0, 25 is is is is is is is the al lowable maxim um charg e in a room i n kg ; the refrig eran t charg e in the appli ance i n kg ; the requ ired m inim um room area in m ; the room area in m ; the lower flammabil ity l i mi t in kg /m , as referred in Annex BB; the mi n imu m cei li ng heig h t employed i n meters (m) ; a safety factor The appliance can be placed at an y hei gh t above the floor Wh en th e appliance is switched on, a fan sh all operate tin uousl y su pplying a m i ni mu m airflow as un der normal steady state ditions, even wh en th e com pressor is switch ed off by th e thermostat Compliance is checked by inspection GG.8.2 The appli ance shal l wi thstan d th e effects of droppin g and vibration du ring transport and n orm al use wi thou t leaking refri g eran t The appliance is subjected to the tests of GG.8.2.1 to GG.8.2.4 There shall be no refrigerant leakage Compliance is checked by the following: – 68 – I EC 60335-2-40:201 3+AM D1 :201 CSV  I EC 201 The use of detection equipment having an equivalent sensitivity of g/year of refrigerant shall reveal no leaks The tests of GG , GG 2 and GG may be carri ed ou t on th e appliance ch arg ed wi th a non - fl ammabl e refrig eran t or a non-hazardous g as Damage of parts oth er th an th e refrig eratin g circu i t is all owed GG.8.2.1 Th e appliance is tested in i ts final packag ing for transport an d shall withstand a random vibration test for 80 according to ASTM D 4728-01 The power spectral densi ty profil es to be appl ied are those speci fied in Fi gu re X1 and Table X1 of ASTM D 4728-01 :2001 for truck transportation GG.8.2.2 Th e appl iance is tested in its fi nal packag ing for transport and shall withstand the following nu m ber of drops on a horizon tal h ardwood board 20 m m th ick placed on a concrete or simi lar hard surface: – – one wi th the appli ance held uprig ht; one for each of th e fou r edg es of the bottom side, wi th the bottom side form i ng an ang le of abou t 30° to th e horizon tal The
