227 SC6 leads to the second highest economic growth level of all scenarios, positive impacts employment, and ensures security of food, water, and energy, while controlling CO2 emission risks The analysis of results indicates that alternative development pathways for Vietnam result in significantly diverse socio-economic and security outcomes These outcomes represent the inter-linkages among the energy–food–water sectors, and how these linkages impact socio-economic progress and the environment This will be a critical input for policy-makers while they develop alternative policy choices with clear pros and cons This chapter investigated the impact of alternative energy–food–water pathways (scenarios) on the security of energy, food, and water resources, as well as its social, economic, and environmental outcomes for Vietnam for the period 2014–2030 While, these findings are meaningful for strategic planning in Vietnam, yet they are insufficient for designing effective long-term policies for food, water, and energy resources The design of such polices, it is contented, will require sharper insights into the trade-offs which policy makers would need to consider Such trade-offs will provide the policy makers to weight the implications of the policy choices and select policies which will provide best outcomes Table 6-8 below provides a snapshot of security, economic and environmental outcomes for various scenarios
