Fur elise or Marrige D' Amour Thank you You have finished the first part of the test Now, let’s move to the second one Task 2: Individual long-run (2 minutes) Use your two minutes to talk about what you are required to Pay attention to the suggestions FOOD Describe a popular dish from your region that you enjoy making You should say : What this dish is Why you enjoy making it When you usually make it Why it is popular in your region I’m going to talk about Pho which is a traditional and famous dish in my country You know, this special dish can not only stimulate the appetite of any food lovers but also provide a collection of vitamins and nutrients It is a noodle soup consisting of broth, rice noodles, a large variety of healthy herbs and meat Pho is usually served with either beef or chicken, which helps boost our physical stamina and recharge our batteries after a hard day’s work I usually cook Pho for my family during long holidays when I have a lot of time like National Day or International Labor Day because actually cooking this takes a lot of time and effort I also have to make it clear that a bowl of home-cooked and nutritious Pho can easily strengthen the close-knit bond between family members It would be remiss not to mention finding a top quality bowl of in Vietnam Here, you can easily find a bowl of in the restaurant, in the shops, on the big street or in the alleys, even the street vendors 2 LEISURE ACTIVITY Describe a common leisure activity in Vietnam You should say: What activity is What type of people it Where and when it is possible to it Why it is popular Well, the leisure and recreational activities in my country greatly vary based on the age group, economic and employment status, gender and location of people However, watching TV, surfing the internet, walking in the park, reading daily newspapers and participating in sports like cricket and football are some very common past time activities of the people in my country To be more specific, teenagers and young people mostly like to watch TV programmes, use the internet and social networking sites like Facebook, play online games, sometimes collect stamps, and play outdoor games and sports while adults most of the time Watch TV, walk in the park and read newspapers The choice of hobbies and leisure activities are quite different between city-dwellers and villagers For instance, a teenage boy in a city would mostly play a video game or chat with friends online in his free time, a teenager in a rural area, on the contrary, would be busy fishing or playing outdoor games How these activities vary are quite prominent in our country Even I can feel that by just looking at the different members of my family.  While my younger brother loves to travel, my elder brother plays cricket Two of my cousins collect stamps and coins while I mostly read books and magazines My parents walk in the park and other family members mostly enjoy movies and other TV programmes   EMAIL Describe an important email you received You should say: Who the email was from What it was about Why it was important How you felt about it I have received many important emails in my life, and out of these emails, I would like to talk about an email that I got from a bank The email confirmed my appointment as a part-time employee with them When I was a third-year student at the university, I needed to get a part-time job to earn some money and to gain some experience I applied for several jobs but I desired to work as a consultant for a major bank in my country It was not easy to get the job since many candidates applied for the job and the bank preferred full-time employees One day I got an email from the bank where I was interviewed It was early November in 2004, and at that time, I was around 22 years old I opened the email and read the details very quickly My heart was pounding and I felt really good when I found that the email confirms my appointment as a part-time employee with this company I read the email again and took a print out as well The email was sent to me by the Head of the Human Resource department of the bank and his name was Mr Sơn It was a very important email for me as I was desperately expecting to work for this company and the email confirmed my joining there Secondly, this was the first job confirmation in my life, and I needed this job so badly at that time So this was very exciting news for me ADVERTISEMENT Describe an advertisement you have seen or read that you like You should say: What it is Where you first saw it Why you like it Whether advertisement is necessary or not, why? Advertising has become an integral part in our lives which may appear on TV, social media platforms and in real life Recently, there has been one advertisement which really catches my attention, and that is the one from TH true milk This TV commercial is about milk and dairy products manufactured by the TH company The word TH stands for True Happiness which delivers a message that our company would like to deliver happy products to all customers This advertisement is broadcast randomly on TV, especially during golden hours when my family are watching some films or game shows As regards the content, TH emphasizes on the main product which is milk produced from well raised cows This leads to a common belief that the product provides people with much higher nutritional values compared to the one from other competitors Alongside the ear-catching tunes, the visual effects are principally in blue and white colors that show peace and joy Plus, there are children doing all sorts of outdoor activities around a herd of cows, which arouses a sense of being so energetic Moreover, I reckon that the target audiences here are parents and children who are likely to purchase this product To be honest, this advertisement is a nice one for me, but it appears to be quite annoying during the ad-break sessions on TV since it is repeated quite frequently I perceive that this repetition may backfire and lead to countless complaints from TV watchers Truth be told, I have tried this product already and found it as tasty as advertised Thus, I will support the brand more ENVIRONMENT Describe a natural disaster you have experienced You should say: What the disaster was When you experienced it What you did How you felt about it When it comes to catastrophes, floods must be the topic for heated debates annually in Vietnam since it happens each year in the middle part of the country and devastates everything on its way As far as I’m concerned, Vietnam is positioned in the tropical region and right adjacent to the sea, so storms are the norm, and they usually come alongside typhoons and floods In rainy seasons, some provinces in the middle part of Vietnam have to suffer from those disasters which seriously destroy their home, kill animals or even humans There is nothing which can measure the loss we always have to endure during the floods And one more threatening thing adding to this phenomenon is the deforestation which results in the great amount of water rushing towards villages and sweeping everything out to the sea.  After each storm comes, floods leave local people in pain, loss and sufferings To be more exact, thousands of houses are ruined or even vanish, cattle and poultry perish, and numerous people are deceased To be honest, the consequences are immeasurable and mediocre for anyone to confront, so help is always needed.  And this is the time when the government and some patrons join hands to save people and provide them with new accommodation and food to survive This act shows patriotism and love for citizens Personally, I always transfer a small amount of money to some funds in order to help them overcome this disaster, and I will always it to help beloved Vietnamese people Thank you You have finished the first part of the test Now, let’s move to the third part Task 3: Topic Discussion (2 minutes) You have maximum TWO minutes to deliver a speech of the topic given You are expected to include three parts of a speech: - Introduction (one topic sentence) - Development (three main ideas presented in three sentences with three supporting - details in other three sentences) Conclusion (one concluding sentence) with the use of some linking words 1 FOOD a Do you think large fast-food companies should be allowed to target at children in their advertising campaigns? Why? b How important is food as a representative of a country’s culture? c Compare the importance of local and imported goods for the economy of a country? I think the big fast food companies should not be allowed to target children in their advertising campaigns but should be more tightly regulated Advertisements for unhealthy food products are everywhere and children and teens continue to be a main target audience Television is still where you will find the most fast food advertising; however there has been a rise in advertising through mobile devices and social media, which are popular with young people More fast food advertisements than ever before are appearing on Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and kids’ websites The latest report by Yale Rudd Center found that the fast food industry has increased its spending on advertisements, up 8% from 2009, to $4.6 billion a year to advertise mostly unhealthy products Every day on television, preschoolers view, on average, 2.8 ads, children view 3.2 ads, and teens view 4.8 ads for fast food The problem is that advertising is effective, with research showing that children exposed to fast food advertising are more likely to consume fast food and have increased weight Advertisements targeting children encourages consumption of nutritionally poor items and contribute to poor diet and obesity among young people b How important is food as a representative of a country’s culture? Food is the great unifier that connects us across cultures and generations, and our food culture is the way that food integrates into our traditions, community, heritage, and connects us with our food system No matter where you go, it’s clear that one of the aspects of culture that is most important is food Indeed, one of the best ways to truly experience local culture when you travel is to try the food Food is a huge deal when it comes to culture Nearly every culture has its own food, and its own customs associated with eating food c Compare the importance of local and imported goods for the economy of a country? Local goods are important in the sense that it creates a demand and thereby a scope for job opportunities for these who otherwise would be unemployment Hence local goods create a source of income and add up to the overall economy’s GDP On the other hand, the surplus of local goods can be exported to the other nations to earn more foreign currency Besides, for economic development, a country still needs to use imported goods because not all countries have the resources and skills required to produce certain goods and services Nevertheless, countries impose trade barriers, such as tariffs and import quotas, in order to protect their domestic industries FREE TIME ACTIVITY a Would you agree that it is important for older or retired people to keep themselves busy? Can you suggest some suitable activities? b In your opinion, young people have enough or too much leisure time? Why/why not? c What new kinds of leisure activities would you like to see introduced in area which don’t currently exist? Why? a/ Would you agree that it is important for older or retired people to keep themselves busy? Can you suggest some suitable activities? I agree that it is important for older or retired people to keep themselves busy Elderly and retired people age 55+ and above MUST keep themselves busy in order to maintain good mental and physical health (to an extent spiritual), if not, better Most common conditions/ diseases that affect old people are dementia/alzheimer and neurological disorders Elderly people should: PHYSICAL HEALTH - Keep moving This means that you need to move your body daily like walking, jogging, warm up exercises, sitting and standing up etc You need to make sure that each day your whole body moves actively. If you cannot move much due to certain conditions, consult a doctor and ask on how to make the body more active to maintain muscle strength, blood flow and reduce risks of diseases MENTAL HEALTH - Keep up to date with politics Yes, some countries have their politics turned upside down but that doesn’t mean you should give up on life In fact, your knowledge on politics and current affair puts you in a better mental health as it reduces the risks in having alzheimer No prominent studies have been done to prove this yet, but if you find yourself constantly thinking of who should win more seats, or which candidate made better manifestos, or arguments on the drainage problem, you will actually find yourself THINKING Furthermore, learn something new I suggest learn a new language and practice it, or find an active and healthy hobbies such as playing chess or gardening MENTAL HEALTH - Keep your friends and family beside you who you can trust and who you share good memories with Family and friends are a key to high stress or a place to destress, so keeping low stress when you’re old reduces cortisol amount in your body, which has strong correlation with poor memory if in high amounts SO TRUST AND LOVE SPIRITUAL HEALTH - If you are an atheist, that’s okay My context of ‘spiritual health’ is to find yourself within the past 50 or 60 years of receiving your first pay check, studying, working, getting married, having a puppy for the first time, seeing your newborn baby brother etc Get lost in the memories but not too deep You need to connect these memories with your own thinking: What have I achieved? What did I learn the most? What was I like? Why and how did I change? What did I love the most? Then, bring yourself back to the present and think about the near future What is my goal this year? What am I aiming for? These questions will not only guide you in finding yourself, but they act as pillars of your identity b/ In your opinion, young people have enough or too much leisure time? Why/why not? In my opinion, young people today not have too much leisure time Nowadays young people have to spend too much time working The work is increasingly stressful and demanding To meet the requirements for the job, young people continue to have to study more to improve their professional qualifications If young people are married, after finishing work, they will have to spend time with their children In general, young people not have too much free time to rest and relax after a stressful working day c/ What new kinds of leisure activities would you like to see introduced in area which don’t currently exist? Why? One thing that I find very fun is playing the slide at West Lake water park The slide is very high, so when you slide like that, it's a bit scary but very interesting However, some faint-hearted people may not dare to play this game However, after two years of the Covid pandemic, West Lake water park temporarily stopped operating And I hope the West Lake water park will be back up soon so I can play this exciting game TECHNOLOGY a Do you think technology has changed the way we communicate? b How job opportunities differ for those who have computer skills from those who not c Do you think the existence of computer in schools has improved the way students learn? a/ Do you think technology has changed the way we communicate? I think technology has changed the way we communicate Over the years, technology has changed the way people communicate Originally the telephone replaced the telegraph Today cell phones, email and the Internet top the list of preferred communication methods in society As more businesses and educational institutions use technology to communicate, society seems to have accepted, if not embraced, the increased role technology now plays in daily lives Age has an impact on an individual 's preferred method of communication Communication today is entirely different compared to thirty years ago Today we communicate via text, email, Instagram, twitter and etc There are numerous amounts of applications on our cell phones today that help us communicate with loved ones as well as acquaintances For example there is an application named Whatsapp/ Zalo/Facebook this application allows you to speak to people in other countries for free Although the way we communicate today is quick, easy and never seems to fail all great things have consequences Many believe that we have become dependent off of our cell phones as well as all the greatness that they offer us on a daily basis b How job opportunities differ for people with computer skills compared to those without computer skills With the penetration of information technology into every step of the business, computer skills are becoming increasingly valued in today's workplaces Computer skills can improve productivity, solve complex problems, create new businesses and earn higher wages It is clear that, in this day and age, a person with good computer skills will find it easier to find a job with a better income because they will create better work performance, bring more value for Business On the contrary, people without computer skills will find it very difficult to get a good, high-paying job, and they may even be unemployed or can only some manual work with low productivity and low income c/ Do you think the existence of computer in schools has improved the way students learn? An overwhelming majority of teachers polled reported that they believe computers in the classroom improve student learning In fact, the results showed more than 80% believe this to be true Computers are beneficial in so many aspects of learning that this result is not surprising Having access to computers in the classroom allows students to learn not only about relevant course and research material but to learn about computers themselves Some level of computer proficiency is required at almost every jobsite, so learning their capabilities and functions while still in school makes students more job ready once they graduate The use of research assignments, co-operative web quests, and report presentation all serve to educate the student on the subject matter and on computer usage It's like killing two birds with one stone As always, the job of teachers is to educate and prepare children for the future If the future is going to contain computers, which it almost certainly is, it makes perfect sense that the more exposure students receive to this technology the better off they will be Report presentation via Power Point is much more relevant to the workplace than poster boards full of various graphs and charts displayed on easels around the boardroom Technology is here to stay so we better get used to it 4 ENVIRONMENT a How will climate change affect where people live in the next ten years? b Do you think governments will pay more attention to climate change in the future? c What can we to help reduce global warming? a/ How will climate change affect where people live in the next ten years? In recent times, scientists have seen large changes in our planet’s climate Although climate change is a global issue, the effects of climate change are not the same around the world Each continent, country, and area will experience different effects These effects include different speeds of warming or, in some places, cooling, and changes to rain- and snowfall Since the climate is global, what happens in other places can also impact the place where you live During the last 40 years global air temperatures have increased by over 1°C, with important impacts being already observed, although they depend on the region where you live In the future, global warming is expected to continue, with some regions warming faster than others If we reduce CO2 emissions, global air temperature increase can be
