factors that form a person’s dignity as well as a social development motivation Moral education is necessary in order to advance a society where people are the target and motivation of the social progress and taken care of President Ho Chi Minh believed that revolutionary morality education for the young generation was an important duty of our Party and cared about it when he was alive Grasping his idea thoroughly, the Party has attached special importance to revolutionary morality education for the young generation and mentioned it in Documents of National Party Congress many times Revolutionary morality education for students is an issue that achieves significant interest of many universities in Hanoi and concretized in their educational missions Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam as well as the center of politic, economic, culture, education, science and technology This is where 93 Universities and Academies located The number of students living and studying in Hanoi is the highest in the country These students have the same characteristics such as: young, dynamic, creative and clear-headed so they can quickly approach and apprehend modern factors to develop and improve their personalities With the desire of building good careers, devoting their talents and skills to Hanoi’s development, many poor students overcome difficulties and study well On the contrary, a remarkable number of students are caring only about personal interests, lack of revotionary ideas and will, ignore political and social problems of the country Some students are unconsistant, lacking of skill and spirit, therefore they are easily induced and stimulated by hostile enemies… These negative expressions are increasing and causing urgent public opinion, bad impacts on the country’s young generation For these reasons, revolutionary morality education for students in general, for students in Hanoi in particular is an unbiassed request to prevent and push back students’ negative moral behaviors and to equip them with good revolutionary morality behaviors, faith and feelings In reality, revolutionary morality education for students is performing in many ways and diversified methods Among them, revolutionary morality education for students through social activities is the highly optimal and effective method because of its flexible matters and forms that are suitable for the students’ age, need, hobby and habit However, many universities don’t really esteem and pay more attention to this kind of educational method Therefore, research on revolutionary morality education for students through social activities not only originates from the demand of perfecting the theory of revolutionary morality education, but also from the real urgency of this work For these reasons, the author chooses: “Revolutionary moral education through social activities for university students in Hanoi nowadays” as the topic of the doctoral thesis in Politics, majoring in Ideological work Research purposes and tasks 2.1 Research purposes On the basis of clarifying the theoretical issues of revolutionary moral education through social activities for university students and the current situation of revolutionary moral education through social activities for university students in Hanoi, the thesis proposes views and solutions to strengthen revolutionary moral education through social activities for university students in Hanoi nowadays 2.2 Research tasks To accomplish the above purposes, the thesis performs the following tasks: - Proposing an overview of research works related to the topic; - Clarifying theoretical issues about revolutionary moral education through social activities for university students; - Assessing the current situation of revolutionary moral education through social activities for students of universities in Hanoi, analyzing the causes and problems; - Proposing, analyzing and interpreting the scientific basis of views and solutions to enhance revolutionary moral education through social activities for students in Hanoi in the future Research object and scopes 3.1 Research object The research object of the thesis is revolutionary moral education through social activities for university students in Hanoi nowadays 3.2 Research scopes - The thesis focuses on researching the current situation of revolutionary moral education through social activities for Vietnamese university students who are studying full-time undergraduate training programs at 05 universities in Hanoi, including University of Science and Technology, Thuongmai University, Academy of Journalism and Communication, People's Security Academy and Thang Long University These are universities representing public and non-public schools, with different disciplines, such as Science, Technology, Economics, Social Sciences and Humanities, Security - defense - Survey data has been stidied from 2016 to present, the proposed solutions are valid for reference until 2030 Theoretical basis and research methods 4.1 Theoretical basis The thesis is based on the viewpoints of Marxism - Leninism, Ho Chi Minh's ideology, the line and the point of view of the Communist Party of Vietnam on political leadership, revolutionary moral education for university students through social activities, inheriting the research results of domestic and foreign scientific works related to the content mentioned in the thesis 4.2 Research methods The thesis uses the following specific research methods: theoretical, inductive, theoretical analysis and synthesis, observation, activity research, sociological investigation, in-depth interview, data processing, history and logic With the sociological survey method, the author built a common survey form for both students and staff, including 21 questions, including questions using a 5-level Likert scale The author conducted a survey in 05 universities Academy of Journalism and Communication represents the group of universities training social sciences and humanities Hanoi University of Science and Technology represents the group of technical universities Thuongmai University represents the group of universities training economics People's Security Academy represents the group of armed forces schools Thang Long University represents the group of non-public universities At each university, the author conducted a survey of 05 leaders and managers, 10 officers from departments and divisions, 10 faculty members and 120 students Thus, the total number of officials and lecturers participating in the survey is 125 people, accounting for 17.2%, of which the number of leaders and managers is 25 people; the number of cadres of departments and divisions is 50 people The number of faculty members in the department is 50 people The total number of students participating in the survey is 600 students, accounting for 82.8% Collected data were analyzed by SPSS software version 22.0 and the author used descriptive analysis and reliability analysis for evaluation New scientific contributions of the thesis - Clarified concept of the type of social activity of students Clarifying concept of higher education through social activities for students and the constitutive elements of higher education for students such as subject, object, content, form, method and effectiveness - On for university students nowadays - The thesis has proposed and analyzed theoretical and practical bases of views and solutions to enhance revolutionary moral education for students through social activities Theoretical and practical significance of the thesis 6.1 Theoretical significance The thesis contributes to clarifying the theoretical issues of revolutionary moral education through social activities, subjects, contents, methods and forms of revolutionary moral education through social activities for current students 6.2 Practical significance - The thesis can serve as a reference for the Party Committee, Board of Directors, Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Student Unions of universities, organizations, and individuals engaged in educational work and revolutionary moral education for students - The thesis can be used as a reference in research and teaching at universities and colleges on the issue of moral education and revolutionary moral education for students Structure of university students in order to determine the university students' standards of revolutionary morality in accordance with the characteristics of the current period At the same time, it is necessary to specify the contents of revolutionary moral education for students in the current revolutionary period of the country Secondly, it is necessary to clarify the content of the concept of social activities of university students, the types of social activities and the characteristics of each type Thirdly, it is necessary to study the subject, object, purpose, content, form, and method of education through social activities and the role of social activities in realizing the goal of revolutionary moral education for university students Fourthly, it is necessary to study the current situation of revolutionary moral education through social activities for university students in Hanoi, evaluate the successes and limitations, highlight the problems raised from the current situation and analyze and propose solutions to strengthen this work in the coming years Chapter SOME THEORETICAL ISSUES ABOUT REVOLUTIONARY MORAL EDUCATION THROUGH SOCIAL ACTIVITIES FOR UNIVERSITY STUDENTS 2.1 Morality, Revolutionary morality and revolutionary moral standards of university students 2.1.1 Morality Ethics are standards and principles that regulate human behavior and evaluation in relation to each other and to society in general, in accordance with the requirements of each political regime and socio-economic conditions certain societies, they are exercised by personal beliefs, by tradition, and by the power of public opinion 2.1.2 Revolutionary morality and revolutionary moral standards according to Ho Chi Minh's Ideology 2.1.2.1 The concept of revolutionary morality Revolutionary morality is the moral foundation enlightened by President Ho Chi Minh and inherited by our Party, creatively applied in accordance with each revolutionary period of the country Revolutionary morality is the product of the combination of the moral views of Marxism-Leninism with the noble moral tradition of the Vietnamese nation and the quintessence of human morality It is a value system and value orientation expressed in the form of rules, ethical standards, expression of thoughts, feelings, and ethical behavior of 11 a noble life, a spirit of mutual love, with dreams and aspirations Thirdly, educating the spirit of self-discipline, striving to rise and having a sense of responsibility in learning and working Fourthly, educating a healthy and humane lifestyle, revolutionary moral education for university students 2.3.1 Social activities contribute to raising awareness of moral standards as well as an understanding of revolutionary moral concepts and categories for students 2.3.2 Social activities contribute to raising moral feelings and developing students' sense of duty and social responsibility 2.3.3 Social activities contribute to the formation and development of self-conscious and voluntary moral behavior and the improvement of positive participation in the fight against violations of moral standards and negative phenomena in society 2.3.4 Social activities contribute to personality formation and comprehensive development for university students Summary of chapter Revolutionary moral education is a value system and orientation expressed in the form of moral rules and standards, reflecting the reality of the revolutionary struggle for national liberation, national defense and building socialism of the working class and the working people, creating the foundation of the personality of the revolutionary in particular and the Vietnamese people in general This is the moral foundation enlightened by President Ho Chi Minh and inherited by our Party, creatively applied in accordance with each revolutionary period of the country Regarding revolutionary moral education for the young generation in general, and for students in particular, it is necessary to combine many forms and methods and select educational content suitable to the psycho-physiological characteristics of the students' age, in which education through social activities is an educational method that attracts a large number of students to participate with a spirit of self-discipline and voluntariness, bringing 12 practical benefits to the community, and contributing to helping students perfect their personality and develop comprehensively The study clarifies the concepts of tools, the constituent factors of revolutionary moral education through social activities for students, and at the same time points out the role of social activities in realizing the goals of revolutionary moral education for university students, study creates a premise for assessing the current situation of universities and a solid scientific basis for the author to raise his point of view and propose solutions to strengthen the work of revolutionary moral education through social activities for university students in Hanoi in the coming time Chapter REVOLUTIONARY MORAL EDUCATION THROUGH SOCIAL ACTIVITIES FOR UNIVERSAL STUDENTS IN HANOI – THE CURRENT SITUATION AND PROBLEMS 3.1 Overview of characteristics of universities and social activities of students of surveyed universities 3.1.1 Academy of Journalism and Communication Academy of Journalism and Communication is the Party institution under the system of Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics At the same time, it is a university built into a key university in the country's higher education system, providing undergraduate and postgraduate training in political theory, propaganda, journalism and a number of other humanities and social sciences with 40 undergraduate programs, 20 master's programs, doctoral programs, with a size of about 8000 students per year Annual cultural and artistic activities, such as SpeakUp MC contest, Welcome to AJC, research and businesses 3.1.3 Thuongmai University Thuongmai University was established in 1960 with the name Central Business School After many name changes, in 1994, it officially changed its name to Thuongmai University - a public university, training at all levels of undergraduate, master and doctoral in the fields of economics, accounting, management, business and commerce The school is training 26 majors at the undergraduate level, majors at the master's level and majors at the doctoral level, with a total training scale of nearly 20,000 students at all levels Every year, the
