UNIT 14: WHAT HAPPENED IN THE STORY? Lesson 1(1, 2, 3) Date of planning:10/02/2019 Date of teaching :5A-11/2,5B,5C12/2/2019 I Objectives After the lesson, Ss will be able to: - Use the words and phrases related to the topic: Talking about stories - Develop Ss listening and speaking skills II.Language focus Vocabulary: order, far away,watermelon, seed Sentence Patterns: + What happened in the story? - First, Then,Next, In the end III Teaching aids - Equipments in English room - Books, teachers’ book, notebooks, cards and cassette IV Procedures Teacher’s activities Students’ activities A Class organization Good morning/ afternoon! Who is absent today? B Warm up - Sing the song: What you in your Good morning/ afternoon! - Sing the song free time? at page 21 C New lesson Look, listen and repeat - Ask Ss to look at the picture a and answer the questions: - Look at the picture and give the answers + Who is he/she? + What are they doing? + What are they talking about? - Have them look at the book and listen to - Listen carefully the tape - Play the recording for Ss listen - Ask them to repeat a few times - Repeat the procedure with the rest pictures - Play the recording through - Listen and repeat - Practice with Ss - Divide the class into groups Ask Ss to - Work in groups practice in pairs - Check some pairs - Others give comments - Work in pairs - Practise in front of the class - T gives comments - Go round and check if Ss can repeat and understand the dialogue Point and say - Ask Ss to look at picture d in part again - Have them read the question in the picture - Look at the pictures and say aloud the question - Give new sentence pattern - Write down the sentence pattern - Write the question on the board - Teach Ss how to answer: What happened in the story? - First……… - Ask the question What happened in the story?and invite Ss to tell the story by joining the sentence under the pictures - Work in pairs with First,Then, Next, and In the end - Call some pairs to practise in front of the class - Some pairs practice in front of the - Give feedback and correct mistakes of class Others listen and check pronunciation - Make a few questions to check Ss’ comprehension of the language - Answer - Have the whole class repeat all the phrases and sentence pattern in chorus to - Repeat reinforce their pronunciation - Work in groups Let’s talk - Tell the class that they are going to practise further by asking and answering questions about The Story of Mai An Tiem - Get Ss to work in groups of four to ask and answer - Practise in front of the class - Set a time limit for the class to practise - Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary - Call some Ss to practise in front of the class - Listen and remember - Give feedback D Consolidation - Retell the main story =   = ... down the sentence pattern - Write the question on the board - Teach Ss how to answer: What happened in the story? - First……… - Ask the question What happened in the story? and invite Ss to tell the. .. look at the picture a and answer the questions: - Look at the picture and give the answers + Who is he/she? + What are they doing? + What are they talking about? - Have them look at the book and... if Ss can repeat and understand the dialogue Point and say - Ask Ss to look at picture d in part again - Have them read the question in the picture - Look at the pictures and say aloud the question
