MACHINED C CHASE MODULE OVERVIEW The machined C chase module is a fixed width system, providing a receptacle for 29 inch square screens The screen is loaded from the front of the machine and slid into the machine along the screen support plates The spring loaded right hand screen guide strip aligns the screen with the fixed left hand screen guide strip The screen is clamped in the chase using pneumatic cylinders that clamp the screen to the screen support plates The chase is a floating assembly mounted on a bearing set The chase is positioned to align the screen to the correct printing position During printing, the chase is pneumatically clamped to the left and right printhead assemblies to maintain the aligned position, Screen Alignment Module chapter refers A screen at centre sensor is used to detect the presence of a screen in the chase Screen Loading There isone of three methods used for achieving correct position of the screen within the chase: • Screen Depth Adjuster • Auto Screen Loader • Semi-Auto Screen Loader NOTE Only one of the above items would be fitted to the machine at any one time Auto Screen Loader and Semi-Auto Screen Loader options are not available Nov 11 Technical Reference Manual 17.3 MACHINED C CHASE MODULE OVERVIEW Both auto and semi-auto use the same mechanism, but have different loading procedures due to software control; the auto and semi-auto screen loader mechanism is secured beneath the print carriage, therefore the drive is provided by the print carriage drive system The screen loader accurately positions the screen in the chase The mechanism may also incorporate an optional squeegee drip tray NOTE If semi-auto screen loader is installed on the machine, the screen position sensor is not fitted to the screen loader mechanism For auto screen loading, the screen is manually loaded and the front printhead cover is closed When Load Screen is selected on the MMI, the screen loader is driven forward to locate the rear edge of the screen Once located, the screen loader is driven further forward allowing the screen stop to clear the inner face of the rear frame of the screen The screen stop is extended and the print carriage drive is reversed pulling the screen to the rear of the chase The screen stop is retracted and the screen change mechanism is driven rearwards allowing the screen stop to clear the rear face of the screen The screen stop is extended and the print carriage is driven forwards, pushing the screen to the correct position The screen stop is retracted and the screen is clamped in position For semi-auto screen loading, Load Screen is selected on the MMI, the screen loader is driven forward and the screen stop is extended The operator opens the printhead cover and loads the screen into the machine until it abuts the screen stop This is the correct position for the screen The printhead cover is closed, the operator is requested to confirm the screen is located correctly The screen stop is retracted The screen is clamped in position 17.4 Technical Reference Manual Chapter Issue Nov 11 Chapter Issue Nov 11 Technical Reference Manual USB NextMove ES (I/O Node 1) M36PL35 CAN Bus CAN_H figure below shows the measurement for both centre and front justified stencils, when the stencil is 29 inches square Board Width Centre Justified Rear of Stencil to Front of Image Front Justified NOTE Rear of stencil to front of image is measured from the rear face of the screen frame to the front edge of the image Chapter Issue Nov 11 Technical Reference Manual 17.7 MACHINED C CHASE MODULE ADJUSTMENTS AND SETTINGS The centre justified image scale, marked on the side of the screen depth adjuster, can only be used for screens that are 29 inches by 29 inches with a centre justified image For other screen sizes with a centre justified image, the Rear of Stencil to Front of Image scale must be used When using the centre justified image scale, the screen depth adjuster is set to the board width value The scale has both imperial and metric units as follows: • Metric - 0mm to 508mm • Imperial - inches to 20 inches To set the screen depth adjuster, use the following procedure: Level NOTE This procedure requires the use of a DEK Test Plate, DEK part number 113693 If a DEK Test Plate is required, contact DEK Customer Support before commencing The chase to table level is checked by measuring down to points on the rising table surface from the DEK Test Plate which simulates a screen fitted in the chase A datum reading is taken from the centre hole E, the range of readings must not exceed 0.15mm of the datum Machined C Chase Depth Micrometer Test Plate Rising Table View on Front of Machine Figure 17-1 Chase to Table Level Setting B A A .mm B .mm C .mm E D .mm C
