  • 1. Điều ước ở tương lai. (Future wish) Câu ước ở tương lai dùng để diễn tả những mong ước về một sự việc trong tương lai. S+ wish +S+ Would/Could +V(bare-infinitive) Eg: John wishes he would pass the final exam next week. (The fact is that he didn’t prepare anything and he might fail.) (John mong mình sẽ qua bài kiểm tra ći kỳ vào t̀n tới – Thực tế là anh ta đã khơng ch̉n bị gì và có thể sẽ bị trượt) She wishes she would work in a famous company. (The fact is that she is not qualified enough to work in a famous company) (Cơ ấy ước gì được làm việc trong mợt cơng ty nởi tiếng – Thực tế là cơ ta khơng đủ tiêu ch̉n để làm ở trong đó) 2. Điều ước ở hiện tại (Present wish) Câu ước ở hiện tại dùng để diễn tả những mong ước về một sự việc khơng có thật ở hiện tại, hay giả định một điều ngược lại so với thực tế. S + Wish + S + V( past simple/ Past subjunctive) Past subjunctive ( Q khứ giả định): Hình thức giống thì q khứ đơn (Past Simple) nhưng với động từ be phải đổi thành WERE cho tất cả các ngơi. Eg: I wish I had a villa (But it is difficult for me to have a villa at present) (Giá mà tơi có mợt căn biệt thự – Nhưng thật khó cho tơi để có mợt căn biệt thự tại thời điểm hiện tại) Nam wishes he were an actor.( But now he isn’t an actor) (Nam ḿn được làm diễn viên – Nhưng giờ anh ta khơng phải là diễn viên) 3. Điều ước ở q khứ (Past wish) Câu ước ở q khứ dùng để diễn tả những mong ước về một sự việc khơng có thật ở q khứ, hay giả định một điều ngược lại so với thực tại đã xảy ra ở q khứ. S + Wish +S + Past Perfect/ Past Perfect Subjunctive Past Perfect Subjunctive : Hình thức giống như Past Perfect. Eg: I wish I hadn’t met him yesterday ( The fact is that I met him yesterday) (Tơi chỉ mong rằng hơm qua khơng gặp anh ta – Sự thật là hơm qua tơi đã gặp anh ta) Marry wishes she had learnt English three years ago.( In fact, she didn’t learn English 3 years ago, now she is regretting about that.) (Marry ước gì cơ ấy đã học tiếng Anh từ 3 năm trước – Thực ra, 3 năm trước cơ ấy khơng đi học tiếng Anh và giờ cơ ấy hới tiếc vì điều đó) 4. Các cách sử dụng khác của WISH: -“I wish to” có cùng nghĩa với “I want to” Eg: I wish to go to Da Nang = I want to go to Da Nang (Tơi ḿn đi Đà Nẵng) – Sử dụng “Wish” với một cụm danh từ đứng sau để đưa ra một lời chúc mừng, mong ước. Eg: We wish you a merry Christmas. (Chúc bạn Giáng sinh vui vẻ)
