Week14 Period 27 Date of preparing:3/12/2010 Lesson 13 – Z z (1) I/ Aims and Objectives: 1. Aims: Introduce the consonant Z z and four new words Zack, Zebra, Zero, Zipper. -Skill: Listening, speaking, reading, writing. -Method: MAT, TPR, FA, CA. 2. Objectives: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to know the consonant Z z and four new words Zack, Zebra, Zero, Zipper. II/ Contents: Vocabulary: Zack, Zebra, Zero, Zipper. III/ Teaching aids: 1. Teacher: T-made pictures cards for old and new vocabulary, puppets, cassette, radio. 2. Students: Textbook and workbook, notebook, pen, pencil, ruler, eraser, crayons. Presentation: Act. 1: Present Z and z: -Show Ss “Z” TC: Z: This letter’s name is I Z -Point to “Z” on the “ABC” Wall Chart. T: Z -Ask Ss to look at the book and say: Z -Continue to introduce the letter “z” similarly. Act. 2: Present the /z/ sound: -Model the MAT gesture for /z/. Ss: Z Ss: Z -Observe and listen. 5 10’ 5’ 2’ -Show Ss how to make /z/ sound. -Point to “’Z” and “z” on the Alphabet Wall Chart and ask Ss to repeat /z/ sound. Act. 3: Present the new words: -Use TC to introduce the new words. *Checking: Rub out and Remember. B. Open your book: Act. 1: Find the hidden letter: -Have Ss look at their book. T: Find Z. It’s hidden. Where is it? -Help Ss find the letter and have them point to it. -Play the tape and ask Ss to listen and repeat. Act. 2: Show me: Ask Ss to look at their book and point to each picture and answer: T: Show me .(a zebra). Act. 3: Introduce “The V chant”: Play “The Z chant” on the tape and ask Ss to listen and point to the pictures. C. Extension: Charades: Divide the class into 2 teams. Show S1 from team 1 a TC (A a, E e , I I, O o , U u , B b, C c, D d, G g, P p, T t) ask he to form the letter with his body. S1’s team guess which big or small letter, S1 is making. Correct guess gets 1 point. D. Consolidation: -Ask Ss to retell what they’ve learnt. -Summarize the main points: the consonant Z z and four new words Zack, Zebra, Zero, Zipper. -Repeat /z/ sound. -Observe and find the words. -Repeat in chorus, individuals. -Find the letter, point to it: Ss: Here it is. -Listen and repeat. -Look at their book and point to each picture and answer: Ss: It’s (a zebra). -Do as T told. -Retell. -Listen and note. Aims: Asking about colors (cont.). -Skill: Listening, speaking, reading, writing. -Method: MAT, TPR, FA, CA. 2. Objectives: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to ask about colors. II/ Contents: 1. Vocabulary: Pink, brown, purple, white, black. 2. Model sentences: What color is it? It’s (pink). III/ Teaching aids: 1. Teacher: T-made pictures cards for old and new vocabulary, puppets, cassette, radio. 2. Students: Textbook and workbook, notebook, pen, pencil, ruler, eraser, crayons. New lesson: A. Presentation: Act. 1: Introduce the words: Use TC to introduce the words: +pink -Point to colored objects in the room -Observe and find the words. 7 10’ 15’ 5’ +brown +purple +white +black *Checking: What and Where. Act. 2: Introduce the question and answer pattern: Show Ss the color cards. Use puppets to introduce the new pattern. Puppet A: What color is it? Puppet B: It is (blue). Ask a student to be puppet A and B Have Ss repeat the expressions several times B. Open your book: Act. 1: Find the hidden objects: Ask Ss to look at page 26 and review the /z/ sound. T: Show me (Zack) Ask Ss to look at page 27 and look for each object: T: Find the hidden object. Is there a zipper? T: Where is the zipper? Act. 2: Question and answer pattern: Have Ss listen to the tape and point to the picture. Play the tape again and pause after each line for Ss to repeat. Ask Ss to work in pairs to practice more. PRODUCTION: Slap: Use the color cards and place them face up on the table. Call out a word using it in the sentence: T: It’s yellow. The first Ss to touch the correct card and repeat the word keeps the card and becomes the caller for the next card. -Repeat in chorus, individuals. -Copy down. -Observe and listen. G A: What color is it? G B: It is (blue). -Repeat the expressions several times -Review the /z/ sound Ss: (repeat). Ss: Yes, there is./ No, there isn’t. -Listen to the tape and point to the picture -Pair work. -Play the game.
