UNIT 5: Letter Ee Lesson 1 I Aims.

1/Knowledge.

-By the end of the lesson, students can be able to:

-Recognize and pronounce the letter Ee and its sound correctly -Understand, recognize and say the three Ee words

-Write the letter Ee Vocabulary

Egg, elf, elephant Sight words Hello

2 Skill: Listening, writing , speaking and reading. 3 Attitude.

- Educate Ss to be friendly with friends - Students love animals with the letter e II.Teaching aids:

T: teachers’ book, , CD, phonics cards ,paper including the lyrics of the chant Ss: Student’s book, colour Activity book.

2.Warm up ( 5’)

-Review the previous lesson by playing the “Matching game” -Make two columns on the board, A and B

-Write letters a, b, c, and d in column A and all, pple, ragon, and arrot

-Ask students to match the letters in column A to those in the column B and make four words

-Have the students write the words in their notebooks

-Choose individual students to come to the board, draw lines and say the words -Give feedback

-Introduction of letter Ee, its sound and how to pronounce the words beginning with Ee -Use a card with letter Ee (or write on the board the letter Ee) to introduce to the students the new lesson

- Ss: listen and repeat

- Ss: work individually and pairs

-Instruct students how to pronounce the letter name and the letter sound by saying: “This is the letter Ee /i/ The letter b says /e/.”

-Play the CD

-Ask students to repeat several times and check their pronunciation (letter Ee /i/and its sound /e/)

- Ss: listen and repeat - Ss: work individually

-Use the phonics cards with egg, elf, and elephant, read the words out loud and ask students to repeat

-Use gestures (hand actions) to help students to understand the meanings of the three words

-Check students’ understanding: Teacher says the words, all students actions and vice versa

-Call some students to say the words out loud and correct their mistakes (if any)

* Activity 2: Pupils’ books open (5’) -Point to and elicit the sound of the letter and the words

-Play the CD

-Ask students to listen, repeat and then colour in the letter

- Ss: listen and repeat - Ss: work individually

-During this process, go around the

classroom and elicit the letter and the words

Lesson 1 I.Aims.

1/Knowledge.

2.Warm up ( 5’)

- Ask ss to review the letter Ee and the words: egg,elephant 3 New lesson ( 30’ )

Teacher's and Ss activities Contents

* Activity 2: (10mins)

-Read the commands with preceding “Hello”

-Have students look at the books and listen to the words: hello

-Use gestures (hand actions) to help Students to understand the meanings of commands

-Ask students repeat by using the phonics cards of egg, elf, and elephant combining with gestures

- Ss: look listen and match

- Ss: work individually and groups

-Then, ask students to look at the missing puzzle pieces and match them to the pictures -Go around the classroom and provide necessary help

Activity : Pass the phonics card Game (5mins)

-Using the phonics cards of Ee, egg, elf, elephant

-Line up the students into teams -Give the first students of each team a phonics card and say “Go”

- Ss: work in groups

-The students say the corresponding words and pass the phonics card over their head to the students behind them

-Next, those students repeat the word and pass the phonics card between their legs to the students behind them

-Continue to pass the phonics card over their heads and between their legs to the last students

-Which team hands their phonics card to Teacher and says the word correctly will get one point

-Which team has the most point will be the winner

-Continue the game as many times as necessary

* Activity 3.(5’)

-Put up the lyrics of the chant on the board -Without music, use the phonics cards and step students to sing the chant with egg Do the same with elf and elephant

- Ss: look at the chant listen and repeat - Ss: work individually and pairs -With music, the whole class sings the whole chant Do the chant again using gestures for each word

-Give feedback

Activity 4: Write down the words into Students’ notebook(8)

Ask students write down: Ee, egg, elf, elephant into their notebook.

- Ss: copy down 4.Consolidation: (2)

- T asks whole class to read the chant aloud
