UNIT 13 : Letter M m Lesson

I.Aims.

1/Knowledge.

- By the end of the lesson, students can be able to: - Recognize and say the three Mm words correctly - Do the corresponding actions

- Read the story

2 Skill: Listening, writing , speaking and reading

3 Attitude.

- Educate Ss to be friendly with friends - Students love objects with the letter M

II.Teaching aids:

T: teachers’ book, , CD, phonics cards ,paper including the lyrics of the chant Ss: Student’s book, colour Activity book.

III Teaching method: MAT, TPA. IV/ Procedure

2.Warm up ( 5’) - T: Greet students

- Show the phonics cards, ask students to corresponding actions then say the sound of the letter and words

E.g Teacher: Show the ‘moon’ card

Class: “moon", imitate looking at the sky

- Have students sing the chant in lesson 1, keep the rhythm by clapping their hands and gesturing

Ss: sing the chant in lesson 1, keep the rhythm by clapping their hands and gesturing

- T:Put up the moon, mouse and milk

2.Warm up ( 5’) Which one is missing

- Put the moon, mouse, milk phonics cards on the desk - Give students some seconds to look at them

- Have students close their eyes and take away one phonics card

- Tell students to open their eyes and name the phonics card that is missing - Ss:close their eyes and take away one phonics card

3 New lesson ( 30’ )

- T:Ask students to look at the pictures in the book and name each object

Play the CD

- Ask students to listen and circle the Yes or No for each picture

- Have some individuals point to the items and say them again

- Ss:open their eyes and name the phonics card that is missing

- Look at the pictures in the book and name each object

- Listen and circle the Yes or No for each picture

- T: Call one student come to the front of the class

- Give him/her a phonics card

- Ask another student to read the card, if he/she reads correctly, the rest of students say “ yes” If he/she reads incorrectly, the rest of students say “ no”

- Mime: put one hand on top of the head, the other underneath the arm and scratching and say: /m / - monkey Encourage the students to the same

- Point to the pictures, the students corresponding actions and say the words - Play the CD, students listen and repeat - Ask students to work in pair: The first student point to the pictures and the other student say the word then change the roles - Ss: listen and repeat

Activity: Craftwork (10mins)

- T :Ask the students to take out their notebooks

- Ask them to choose one word the draw the letter and the picture in their notebooks - Tell them to colour the letter and the picture

- The three first students who finish will show their picture to the class

OR

Activity: Guessing game (10mins) - Ask students to work in pairs

One student points to the pictures in the cards in the book, the other reads out the words

- Go around and give help or comment - Ss: points to the pictures in the cards in the book, the other reads out the words
