- T arrange some chairs, back to back, in the middle of the room - Choose phonics cards and place them on the chairs
- Play a song (use a song from the previous units)
- When the music stops Ss pick up a phonics card and, one at time, tell T the name of the item pictured on their phonics card
- T monitors 3 New lesson

- T tell Ss that it’s story time (book closed) - T ask Ss what their favourite character is - T prepare phonics cards of these words: ant, bed, dog, cat, clock, dragon, drum

- T invite Ss to guess what they think the story is about (do not dismiss any ideas)
- Tells Ss to open their books
- T ask Ss some questions about what they can see in the pictures

- T play the CD and ask Ss listen andpoint to the pictures of the key words
- T play the CD again pausing for Ss to repeat - T calls Ssto read the story aloud
- Then T ask them to look at the pictures for a few minutes and close their books
- Say a few sentences (some correct and some incorrect) and ask the students to say yes or no e.g Teacher: The dog is on the bed.
Student 1: Yes!
Teacher: The dragon is on the clock.
Student 2: No! etc
Activity 2: Which animals are in the story? Colour (10mins)
- T point to the animals and ask Ss to name them
- T ask Ss to say which animals appear in the story
- T ask Ss to colour those animals Activity: Act Out (10mins)
- T read the sentences in the story, pause at the key words
- T invite Ss to mime them (the dog, the bed, the ant, the cat, the clock, the dragon, the drum.
- Ask Ss come to the front of the classroom and act out the story
- Encourage them to have fun as they perform
