Vocabulary: letter I, insect. Sight words: this, is, an. Structure: This is an insect. 2 Skill:

- Listening, speaking, reading, writing 3 Attitude:

- Encourage Ss to use the structure more regulary II Teaching aids:

+ Teacher’s aids: Ss’book and teacher’s book, class CDs, flashcards, projector /TV. + Students’ aids: Student book, notebooks, workbook.

*Activity: “Matching”

- Write the words/sentences on the board

- T asks to read the words/sentences on the board - T give Ss flashcards

- T asks Ss to match the flashcards with the words/sentences on the board and call out the words/sentences

3 New lesson (30’)

*Activity Listen and repeat Trace (7’)

- T play the CD and asks Ss to listen and repeat - T demonstrate tracing the letters with their finger

- T says a letter e.g “big I” or “small i” and Ss write the letter on the board

- T asks Ss to trace the letters with their fingers (individuals/ pairs)

- T calls some Ss demonstrate the activity in front of the class

*Activity Listen and repeat (8’)

- T asks Ss to look at the picture - T demonstrate the activity

- T point to the girl an d say: “This is an …” then say “i…i…insect”

- T plays the CD and asks Ss to point to the letter as they hear them

- T plays the CD again and asks Ss to listen and repeat

- T asks Ss to demonstrate the activity in front of the class

- Ss say and act

*Activity Sing (5’)

- T asks Ss to look at the lyrics - T read the lyrics as a whole class - T play the CD and asks Ss to listen

- T play the CD again and asks Ss to listen and sing along

- T asks Ss to clap their hands with “This is a” the the gesture for a girl with “girl” in the song - T plays The CD and asks Ss to clap and act

*Activity Listen and clap (5’)

- T demonstrate the activity - T asks Ss stand up

- T ask Ss to jump when they hear the letter Gg sound

*Activity: “Team competition” (5’)

- T divide the class into groups

- T invite 2-3 Ss from each group to come on the board

- T play the CD and asks Ss to listen and jump - The student who cannot jump correctly with “i” sound will come back to his/her seat

- After the CD, the team with the most Ss who are still on the board is the winner

2 Listen and repeat.

3 Sing

4 Listen and clap.

Play game.

V Summary:

- Learn by heart the word “insect”.

- T says “j…j…jump” and the action - T asks Ss to say and act

*Activity Sing (6’)

- T asks Ss to look at the lyrics - T read the lyrics as a whole class - T plays the CD and asks Ss to listen

- T plays the CD again and asks Ss to listen and sing along

*Activity Listen and jump(5’)

- T demonstrate the activity and asks Ss to clap when they hear the “j” sound

- T asks Ss to stand up

- T plays the CD and asks Ss to jump when they hear the letter sound

*Activity “Listen and tap” (5’)

- T write the letters and the words in different areas on the board

- T divide the class into groups

- T invite a student from each group to go to the board

- T call out a letter sound or a word

- Ss will run and slap the letter or the word on the board and say it loudly

- The faster student will be the winner
