Date: August 27th, 2007 Period: 1 st REVISION I. Aims : By the end of this lesson, students will be able to remind some main grammar points in Tieng Anh 6 in order to be ready for Tieng Anh 7. II. Language contents : 1. Grammar : Review: The present simple tense The present progressive tense Near Future tense Modal verbs: can, must, should, shouldn’t 2. Vocabulary : Review: greeting words (Hello, Hi, …) III.Techniques : Nought and Crosses, Memory Games, Revision of tenses, pair work, group work IV. Teaching aids : Flashcards, charts, cassette player V. Procedures : Teacher and students’ activities Contents - Have students sing the Hello Song. - Divide the class into two teams: noughts (O) and crosses (X). - Let students play games. - Students play the games in two teams. - Show students a picture of twenty objects. - Ask them to look at the picture attentively. - Have them name all the things in the picture. - Then ask them how many of these objects they can remember without looking at the picture again. - Read out sentences with a mixture of simple present, present progressive, Near future and modal verbs for students to practice listening for the 1. Warm up : (5 minutes) • Sing the song: Hello Song Hello, hello, hello What’s your name? Hello, hello, hello My name is John My name is John Hello John, hello John, hello. 2. Activity 1 : (7 minutes) • Nought and Crosses: name English how by old where which fell student (Ex: What’s your name? How old are you? I go to school by bike. Ect.) 3. Activity 2 : (7 minutes) • Memory Games: Some objects in the picture such as: a well, a lake, a factory, a hospital, a ruler, …. difference. - Students must listen to the teacher attentively. Procedures: Teacher and students’ activities Contents - Have students make Noughts and Crosses. - Students play in two team. - Students can get marks if they have many good sentences. - Present new words. - Students slap the board. - Shake hands with a few learners and greet them in English “Nice to meet you”. Get them to greet the teacher again “Nice to meet you too.” - Explain the uses of too / so. - Write a mixed-up dialogue on the board and ask the students to copy it. - Tell the class they are going to listen to a dialogue that contains these sentences, but in a different order. Date: August 31 st , 2007 Period: 3 rd Lesson 2: A (3 – 4) I. Aims: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to know how to greet people different ages. II. Language contents: 1. Grammar : So am I. (review) Expression for greetings (formal and informal) 2. Vocabulary : See you later, just fine, not bad, everything III.Techniques: Rub out and Remember, Role play, pair work, group work IV. Teaching aids: Tape, pictures, cards, charts V. Procedures: Teacher and students’ activities Contents - Ask students some questions about greetings. - Students can get good marks if they have good answers. - Present new words. - Students listen and repeat. - Review how to use “so / too”. - Students give examples. - Use the pictures to introduce the dialogue. - Remind students of the difference in greeting between ages. - Let students listen to the tape. - Let students practice in pairs, have them change the roles. - Ask some pairs to perform the dialogue before the class. - Ask some students to give different greetings to people of different ages before the class. - Check if students understand the responses to the greetings in the box. - Play the cassette.
