LESSON PLAN OF GRADE 10 Date: March 30 th , 2009 Period 95. Unit 15: CITIES Lesson 3: Listening I. Aims: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: _ listen for specific information. _ listen and fill in the table. II. TEACHING AIDS : Board, chalks, pictures, books, cassette player, . . . PROCEDURE : Ativities Contents _T. uses a picture of the statue of Library and asks some question. _Ss. close their books. _T. supplies more information (if necessary). _Lets Ss. open the books. _T. asks Ss. look at the picture and answer the questions. _Ss. work in pairs (one asks one answers). _Lets Ss. open the books. _Then work in groups predicting the answers. _T. walks around to help and explains new words if possible. _Let’s Ss. listen to the whole dialogue once. _Call one or two to answer.(if not exact _lets listen twice) _T. checks. _T. asks Ss. to listen again and fill in the missing information in the table. _T. asks Ss. work in groups. _Lets Ss. play s game(T. gives a words or a number Ss. use these given cues in the meaningful sentence) using the information in the text.  WARM-UP: (5’) _What’s it ? o It’s the statue of Library. _Where is it ? o It’s on an Island in New York Habour / In New York State / In the USA. _What do you know about it ? o It’s tall /big /beautiful /famous. • Before-listening. Written by Khưu Chí Thành Thoi Quan High School Tapescript_ Unit 14. The Statue of Liberty, one of American’s most familiar images, is on an island in New York Habour. It is a symbol of freedom. Its formal name is Liberty Enlightening the World. It was a gift to American people from the French to show the friendship between the two nations. This is the Statue of a woman who is wearing a loose robe and a crown on her head. Her right hand holds a burning torch, and her left hand holds a tablet with the date July 4 th , 1776 on it. The Statue weighs 205 tons and its 46m high. It stands on a stone and concrete base. The base and pedestal increase the height of the monument to 93m. the outside is made of copper. Inside, it has an iron frame. The Statue was completed in 1884 in France, and then transported to America 1886. Tourists can visit the statue from 9.30 a.m. to 5p.m. daily except Christmas Day.
