WEEK 01 Period 01: INTRODUCTION I OBJECTIVES: After the lesson, students can: - understand the aim and the requirement of studying English - know the structure and the aim of each period in one unit of English II Procedure: * The aim and the structure of the text book English is a first of four- level English languague textbook for Vietnamese students of lower secondary schools It follows the systematic, cyclical and theme- based syllabus, which focuses on the use of languague ( pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar) to develop the four languague skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing GETTING STARTED This is WARM UP item or the STARTING item of the whole unit A CLOSER LOOK This item presents and practises the vocabulary and pronunciation of the unit A CLOSER LOOK This sections deals with the main grammar point(s) of the unit The new language point is presented in a short text or a talk/ interview COMMUNICATION This section is designed to help students use the functional language in everyday life It also gives students opportunities to learn and apply the cultural aspects of the language learnt to their lives, and provides culture information about Viet Nam and another countries in the world SKILLS There are Reading and Speaking in this item These activities in Reading aims to develop students‟ reading abilities These activities in Speaking aims to provides further practice which supports students in their production of speaking English freely SKILLS Listening and Writing in this item The listening activity follows the oral practice in Speaking to provide students an opportunity to listen to the language Writing focuses on developing students‟ skills LOOKING BACK & PROJECT Looking back recycles the language from the previous sections and links with the topics Project help students to improve thier ability to work by themselves in a team, and extend thier imagination in a field related to the unit subject III Homework: Prepare Unit 1: Getting started 1, 3: Find out new words WEEK 01 Period 02: UNIT 1: MY NEW SCHOOL GETTING STARTED - A special day I OBJECTIVES: After the lesson, students can: - know some activities for new school of Vy, phong and Duy - call some school things and use some vocabulary to talk about school activities II LANGUAGE CONTENT: Knowledge: * Vocabulary: Special, be excited about, heavy, uniform - wear uniform, put on, school year, early * Grammar: - Present simple tense - Present progressive tense Skills: Speaking / Listening / Writing / Reading Attitude: Students love school Shaping and developing student’s abilities: Observing, self-management, comprehension, presentation, communication, summarizing abilities, collaborative-learning III Teaching aids: Teacher: Text book, lesson plan, … Students: Text books, notebooks, … IV Teaching steps: Teacher and students’ activities Content Warm up: ask and answer about the Suggested answers: picture - There are people in the picture - How many people are there in a picture? - They are Vy, Duy, Phong, Phong‟s Mum - Who are they? - Duy and Vy are wearing their uniform and - What are Duy, Vy and Phong wearing?
