ĐỀ CƯƠNG BÀI GIẢNG MƠN PRESENTATION HỌC KÌ (VB II) TUẦN (Từ 11/10/2011 đến 17/10/2011) UNIT 9: NON-VERBAL LANGUAGE Lesson aims: On completion of this unit, students will be able to: learn how to use non-verbal language in a presentation learn the purposes of using non-verbal language in making a presentation CONTENTS: A Warm –ups: Activity 1: Do the quiz about body language Sometimes more than one answer is possible (See textbook page 15) Activity 2: In pairs say the reasons of learning how to use non-verbal language B Pre – speaking activities: Activity 3: In pairs, answer the following questions What is body communication? What will be mentioned in the body communication? Activity 4: Choose T(true) or F (False) for the following statements  The eyes have ability to replace verbal communication T/F  The eyes can be used to express emotion T/F  The eyes can be used to communicate power T/F  The eyes can be used to express feelings T?F Activity 5: In pairs, discuss the techniques of using eye contact when you make a presentation Which ones you agree or disagree with? State the reasons for your choice  You must make a solid, direct eye contact with the audience  You should not make sweeping eye contact with the audience  You should extend your eye contact to three to five seconds per person  You should use eye contact to maintain control C While – speaking activities Activity 6: In pairs, read the following guidelines about hand gestures and postures, then practice doing them      Place your feet apart from shoulder width, distributing your weight evenly Stand up straight and not look down at the floor as you walk Do not shift your weight from side to side Do not be so stiff that you look like a soldier Do not put your hands behind your back, in your pockets, or hold them in front of your chest  Do not lock your hands in place  Eliminate mannerism such as pulling at your tie, rubbing your nose, or playing with a pen  Keep your hand gestures directly in front of you  Start with your hands relaxed and at your sides Activity 7: Read the following guidelines about facial expressions Try to them by yourself During a speaking situation, there are a few simple rules you should follow to use facial expressions effectively  Be yourself Do not try to act like a speaker you have seen Some people are naturally more expressive than others, so not try to change your usual expression  Do not over it Speakers who are trying to be expressive look like they are trying to be expressive This will make your face seem animated rather than realistic  Think about what you are saying Do not be so concerned about your facial expressions that you are not paying attention to what you are talking about  Smile before you begin speaking A warm smile just before you begin speaking creates positive feelings and help your audience feel good about you D Post – speaking activities Activity 8: Observe a student making a short presentation about one of the following topics Then give comments on his or her non-verbal language Homework assignments Activity 9: Choose one of the topics and prepare a brief presentation Try to be persuasive  Women make better managers of people than men  Body language is at least as important as spoken language Activity 10: Make a preparation for an outline for the final test ĐỀ CƯƠNG BÀI GIẢNG MƠN PRESENTATION HỌC KÌ (VB II) TUẦN 10 (Từ 17/10/2011 đến 24/10/2011) UNIT 10: HOW TO MAKE AN OUTLINE? Lesson aims: On completion of this unit, students will be able to: learn how to give comments on strong and weak points of some sample outlines’ presentation learn how to prepare an outline for the final test CONTENTS: Activity 1: In groups, observing a presenter in the class to learn some experience in using visual aids, in using the language and even the non-verbal language for the next lesson Activity 2: A student from each group gives comments on the presenter Then teacher gives some good advice on how to use visual aids appropriately Activity 3: In groups, read some samples outlines and discuss with the others about the strong points or weak points of each outline The discuss will focus on the language they use, the format of an outline, the ideas and the topic title Then present it in front of the class Activity 4: In pairs, discuss with the partner about the topic and the main ideas of the topic for a final test Activity 5: Practice making an outline of the topic for the final test individually Then sit in groups to share ideas Activity 6: In groups, choose one student to make a short talk on the new outline The whole class will listen and make some questions on the outline format Homework assignment Activity 6: Make a good preparation for the final test ...
