PREFACE
This Standard was prepared by the Standards Australia/Standards New Zealand Committee FP/7 on Fire Hose Reels to supersede AS 1851.2 — 1988
This Standard is the result of consensus among representatives on the Joint Committee to produce it as an Australian Standard
The objective of this Standard is to provide the personnel involved with servicing fire hose reels with a maintenance regime to ensure a fire hose reel is fit for its purpose
This edition specifies a maintenance requirement for fire hose reel pumps ensuring greater efficacy of the fire hose reel assembly It also requires that any defect found during periodic inspections be reported to the building owner or occupier, or both and where required the Regulatory Authority
A six-monthly inspection to ensure that any corrosion or damage does not adversely affect the operation of the reel is included in this Standard
