Topic 1: Would you like to live in a big city? Why? (or Why not?) I think I’d like to live in a big city because • Firstly, in a big city, there are many opportunities for me to study, to work or to find out a good job. • Secondly, big cities have good living standard, facilities, services and many kinds of entertainments so I can enjoy myself. • Finally, living in a big city can help me improve myself and learn a lot of new things, new experiences that are good for me in the future. Topic 2: Do you like to study in a foreign country ? Why? (or Why not?) • Studying in a foreign country seems not very interesting to me. • Firstly, when I study in a foreign country, I have to live far away my family, my friends and my relatives. I feel homesick and alone so it’s hard to focus on my studying. • Secondly, I have to get used to new environment, climate, new place to live, new food to eat or new friends. Besides, I have to speak their language all the time. • Thirdly, I live in a foreign country alone so I have to solve all problems or get over difficulties by myself. • Lastly, I have to prepare everything to study abroad such as: money to use, tuition, place to live and so on. • In short, I don’t think I like to study in a foreign country. How do you improve it? • I think reading is the skill I’m good at because since I started learning English, I have learned a lot about reading skill such as: vocabulary, grammar, translation. I have practiced reading English in text books, documents, materials for long time. • But I think I’m not good at bad at speaking skill, there are some reasons for this: 1. Firstly, I don’t feel confident when I speak English, that why I seldom speak it. 2. Secondly, I’m afraid of making mistakes when I speak, I’m not sure what I say are correct.

(or Why not?) • • • In my opinion, living in a small town is very interesting with reasons: First, a small town has fresh and clean air that’s really good for my health and I really like that, I don’t have to worry so much about pollution Second, people in a small town have simple and peaceful lives, they don’t have to compete to each other to earn money for living like people in big cities • Last, the people they are very friendly and honestly, they treat everyone warmly with all their heart Especially, the relationship in neighborhood is very good They’re always ready to help me when I have difficulties or problems Topic 12: What Vietnamese people usually during Tet festival? • • • • • During Tet festival, there are many activities Vietnamese people usually On New Year Eve, people usually clean up their house, go shopping for everything they need for Tet and have dinner with all members in their family At midnight, they worship their ancestor or go out to watch firework On the first day of Tet, Vietnamese people usually go to pagodas or churches to wish for the best things in a new year Then, they go home to gather with other family members The younger people give their best wishes to the elders in the family and the elders give the younger some lucky money After that, they can play some games or talk to each other Next they have lunch or dinner together On the second day of Tet, Vietnamese people usually visit their relatives; they give some presents or best wishes to their relatives and talk about some happy things in a new year • On the third day of Tet, Vietnamese people usually go out with their friends to visit their old teachers or they go to some beautiful places to relax and enjoy a new year Topic 13: Talk about the advantages of learning a foreign language • • • • There are some advantages of learning a foreign language Firstly, when I learn a foreign language I can widen my knowledge and I know more about the people, life, culture of that country Secondly, I feel confident when communicating to foreigners who speak the language I learn Thirdly, I can have better opportunity to get a job in the field that needs the language I learn Topic 14: What are you doing to prepare yourself to find a good job that you really like? • • • • • To prepare myself to find a good job that I really like, I think I should things: The first thing is I have to focus on my study to get the highest scores as possible that will be very important to get a job in the future The second is when I’m studying at my university I try to learn a lot of experiences relating to my major Those experiences will be very helpful when I apply for a job The third is I will collect as much information as possible about the company and about the position I like and I also prepare myself for some interviewing questions That makes me more confident when I answer questions in the interview The last thing is I will prepare a very good CV to make impression to the employer • I think that’s all I can prepare to get a job I really like Topic 15: Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of using mobile phones • • • • • • • • • Using mobile phones has some advantages and disadvantages Let’s discuss about the advantages: Firstly, mobile phones are very convenient for us to contact to other people everywhere and every time Secondly, some smart phones are entertainment devices, we can enjoy a lot of things such as: music, video, Internet, office applications, video calls and so on Now, let’s discuss about the disadvantages Firstly, it seems that we depend so much on the phones and we feel uncomfortable without them We bring them with us every time Secondly, they are so small that they are easily lost or stolen Thirdly, using them can cost you a lot of money and have some bad affection to your health Finally, you may receive some calls or messages from strangers that you don’t like Topic 16: Talking about the benefits of taking sports or physical exercises • • • • Taking sports or physical exercises can have many benefits Firstly, it helps you have a healthy body and improve your health that also makes your life better Secondly, it helps you relax and reduce stress from your work or your life Thirdly, if you play team sports you can meet some interesting people and make friend with them That makes your life happier Topic 17: Do you think you can change a major characteristic of your personality if you try? Why (Why not)? • • • • I don’t think I can change a major characteristic of my personality There are reasons for that Firstly, my personality is made of what I’ve done in my life so if I try to change a major characteristic, I will have to change what I usually in my life, I have to change my behavior, my lifestyle That will have a big affection to my normal life Secondly, I think I can only change some minor characteristics not major ones In some special situations I can try to change them but just for a short time And after that I come back to my real personality Thirdly, in a normal situation and my usual life, I don’t think I am encourage and patient enough to change a major characteristic of my personality That’s very hard and takes a lot of time so I can give up easily Topic 18: What means of transport would you refer to travel?
